It would mean purging all the older vets 1st. like Tyrod, McCoy, Incognito, Wood and Hughes, none of which has happened and is probably not going to happen so until those players are gone this "tank" word people are saying must be coming from the playstation kids that don't really know football. How can you scream "tank" when a WR of pretty decent caliber was traded for in Watkins spot? Same for CB also, Gaines for Darby isn't a "tank", people need to understand the game better, Watkins hasn't been a big piece of this team since being drafted (injuries), Darby was being benched last season for his poor play, it's not like the management said these are Whaley's guys, F them, lets trade them. We got very good compensation for players who haven't really made huge impacts for us, just my opinion.

I'll be the negative nancy here, I really hope we have a bad season. I'll take 1 more in order to finally get that QB, then we just need to pick the right one of course.

I disagree, I just think we need to switch out current players for drafted players while keeping the nucleus in tact. At QB I see us drafting one next season, Shady is 29 years old so he can be phased out when he can no longer play at a high level. Eric Wood, John Miller could be replaced and Incognito is on the wrong side of 30. I like the duo of Matthews/Jones at WR but we need to draft a deep threat also. All of our LB need to be replaced although I like this Matt Milano kid, he's not athletic but he's very instinctive so we'll see what we have there. If we can get that QB we should fix the OL ASAP so the new QB doesn't get killed but were not far off.

It was Newton's best year as a passer which you failed to mention, he threw his most TD passes (35), I think his lowest INT ratio since his rookie season (10) and tied for 8th in passer rating (99.4).

Ask Terrell Davis and many others how important preseason games are/were, I don't think any starters should play in preseason, it should just showcase rookies and guys trying to make the team.

I know the BBMB was bad at times but you all are no different, just less of you. I was just in a thread that suggested trading Tyrod Taylor and a 1st for Watkins (not a BBMB member either).

If Watkins emerged as a franchise QB for the Texans why would they trade him since they need a franchise QB?

QB -same RB- same OL- same (bad at pass blocking, good at run blocking) TE- same DL- Improved (IMO the scheme change and Shaq Lawson healthy will improve our entire defense) LB- same (Gerald Hodges for Zach Brown to me is a wash) S - Improved (Micah Hyde/ Jordan Poyer are upgrades for sure) CB- Significant downgrade, I think in time White/Gaines will be a solid combo but as of now they are a significant downgrade to what we had recently imo)

Either way you comment it's either he was too old and didn't have it anymore or he will fill the role left by Watkins, the fact of the matter is we were a bottom passing team regardless if Watkins was in the lineup this season but they did have to respect us with Watkins burning you deep. We have both Matthews/Zay Jones both of which ran a 4.47 at the combine so it's not like they are Boldin slow, or someone needs to emerge, Dez Lewis? Why are these WR on our practice squads if they can't play? Next man up like every team in this league. There is an abundance of WR taalent somewhere out there, if he's on someone else's practice squad this is why we have scouts, find us the diamond in the rough.

Him being good 3 seasons ago? I played LB in HS, S in college up until I got injured, I know schemes just fine.

On offense I really think Jonathan Williams will be our future at RB, he has it all, I also thought Zay Jones looked right at home, almost like a veteran out there catches passes like he and Tyrod have been doing it for awhile now, it was very encouraging to see that. On defense I think Gerald Hodges is going to be an impact player from the get go.

I've never been a fan of Jerry Hughes, he had those 2 good years and then regressed back to his usual self the past 2, he takes untimely penalties and I don't believe he's a team first guy, anyone who thinks trading Jerry Hughes is tanking you have to go re-watch him play the past 2 seasons. This is a better scheme fit for him but if we could get a 2nd round pick and a depth player I'd be all for that.

Wasn't Watkins hurt almost all of last season? Weren't we last in passing? If the running game still looks good then we should be improved because Zay Jones/Jordan Matthews and Anquan Boldin to me are way better than Robert Woods.Justin Hunter and Marquise Goodwin. Why would the offense take a big drop? I'm curious to hear.

Watkins was never healthy and Darby was benched for his spotty play last season, imo we were very lucky to get what we did for those players. Our WR group looks to be upgraded, Goodwin/Woods/Salas or Matthews/Boldin/Jones.

Name 1 player who was traded then picked up in FA by that team, I can't recall 1 ever but I may be wrong. I just don't see him resigning here, if the Rams don't resign him it will be a colossal failure on their part so I'd imagine that gets done by mid season.

I don't feel bad for any millionaires because they haven't won a game but yeah it would be cool to see these guys win the SB.

You believe the GM is lying because Sammy Watkins was a target of 4 passes in a meaningless preseason game? I've heard of some weird conspiracy theories but man this tops the cake brother. Who cares man the trade is done and over with? Just saying.

You're speaking as a homer, with Bills colored glasses on, since he was your favorite player of yours don't you think you're a bit more biased on the trade? You state you're tired of the injury comments, as a fan I was tired of the injuries and apparently the Bills front office agreed also. He was never a top 10 talent or a top 5 talent, his best season to date was 2015 where he had 60 receptions (49th in league 2015), 1,047 yards (22nd in the league in 2015), 9 TD (tied for 14th in the league 2015), he has never been in the top 10, will he be? We can't say, he has the talent for sure but has never been able to stay on the field all year long and maybe they didn't think his foot would hold up from here on out, that's just me guessing but I'm sure the injury had to be some kind of factor. Also how have we waived the white flag? Wouldn't waiving the white flag have been trading Watkins and not adding guys to replace the guys traded? People are acting as if Matthews is some scrub, the guy has all around better numbers than Watkins has so far, he's a leader and up until now durable (although he did get injured in practice). I won't act like I know everything about E.J. Gaines , I never heard of him before the trade but after reading about him , he had an excellent rookie season where he made first team all rookie honors 2 easons ago, was injured for his entire sophmore year , came back last year and struggled, he was a throw in and if he's a better fit in this scheme then we just got a steal imo. I liked both players traded but lets be honest those same players have contributed to our losing seasons either by not being available due to injury or just regressing after being very reliable as a rookie.
