It's great to be able to set up the chess pieces. But at some point you gotta be able to play. Sean's strategic abilities in big games are lacking. Houston and 13 seconds are 2 classic examples of probably winning if we had a better tactician. That will always be my argument. As an administrator of process, character and culture he will always be the greatest coach in Bills history. But there's more to coaching than just " human resources".

McB definitely should get credit for selecting Josh. There's no denying that. But 100% of his development was because of Dabol. McDermott doesn't know jack squat about offense and he wasn't the guy in there telling Josh area's to work on. We're now at the point in Josh's career where 80% or more of our wins are because of Josh, not any amazing tactical strategy drawn out by McD. You remove Josh from the equation and immediately the Bills become a 6-7 win team.

My story exactly with the addition of driving by the crime scene that morning before the news even broke. What are the odds. Always awkward answering why an LA guy religiously follows the Bills.

McD is a very polarizing HC. There's a ton to like about him but also obvious coaching flaws that might continue to keep us "coming up short". I'll just throw out last season as a cluster F of drama, emotional stress and injuries the team couldn't recover from. The previous playoff exits had their own story. I think the team will miss Daboll more than they let on. Hopefully KD can create an offensive "identity" that we lacked last season. I was impressed that McB finally put more emphasis on the O. It's probably the only way we're winning a SB. I'm going to try and take a subatical on sparing with hard core McD supporters. They'll have to evaluate him as will Terry if divisional loses continue. I'm still rooting he proves me wrong.

And there lies the answer to this thread. Up until this FA season, McB have neglected upgrading the OL for 5 years. This causes Josh to become more hero ball (risk intrinsic) in his style. The DL on the other hand seems to handle things against regular season opponents, then fades once the high leverage games (qbs) begin. Obviously all the defensive injuries last season were absolutely brutal. We've had both top 10 offenses & defenses during this Allen era. But once the playoffs begin we drift into poor execution/motivation/coaching etc. I don't have the answer to why this happens? It's super frustrating to see us go 10-13 wins every year then struggle in the divisional round. I would hope McB continue to realize Josh and the offense is the key! Majority assets must be directed there in the upcoming years. I can live with an opportunistic D not ranked top 10. And many a SB winner has not had a dominant D.

Good for you. This may come as a shock to you but even fans have both the intelligence and capacity to comment (or critique) a player, coach or even an organization. It doesn't mean we don't support them. Your last word "yet" speaks volumes.

That is correct. Choose a player, probably Kelce to hold and double team Hill. That way you still force a one play mini hail mary. We did neither on top of guarding the sidelines when you know Andy has all his timeouts. But again both defensive plays are moot if you force them to fair catch the kickoff at the 10 or 15. Sean did none of that.

The butchered non squib/pop kick will always 100% be on McDermott. He's the fricken HC. Take your ST out on the field and tell them what to do. Don't "hope" a lackey tells Farwell who in turn tells Bass something else. Pop that kick up inside the 10 and the games over.

There's going to be a moment when you have to ask yourself a question? Does the qb factor more into all these win percentages or the coach? Without Josh, McDermott doesn't even sniff the 36%. And eventually Terry will get fed up watching this team hit a wall in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Cook, Harris & Kincaid should all have a very good year. Elam should see more man press opportunities as long as his snaps aren't reduced like last year.

So true. Anytime we need a big sack it's nowhere to be found. You'd think on paper Von, Floyd and Groot should get you 30+ between them. This will be a make or break season for McD. No excuses, you're calling the plays like Reid & Shanahan. The key to our offense is 2 fold. First the OL must step up over 5 years of mediocrity. Protect 17 and create holes for Cook/Harris. Secondly Kincaid has to shine his rookie year and be that 2nd outlet moving the chains. If these things happen we'll be a problem for most teams, regardless of the inconsistent coaching.

I agree Dan & the Danettes are fun to listen to. The problem with most LA sports talk, it's so much less sports and more fluff. That's why I have to tolerate the Terd. He mostly sucks but at least he mentions Bills football weekly. I will not miss Max & Key in the morning drive.

We're not asking the defense in the playoffs to shut anyone out or hold teams under 20 points. But you can't go down 14-0 against Cincy and a banged up OL by the time I get back from my refrigerator. That's inexcusable. How do our equipment guys get the cleats wrong. Dorsey to some extent struggled in his rookie season. Josh wills this team to a top5 offense status by just showing up. But we need an opportunistic D like KC has, in order to beat teams while still allowing 20+ points.
