Playoff offense is just as much an issue as defense
LABILLBACKER replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for you. This may come as a shock to you but even fans have both the intelligence and capacity to comment (or critique) a player, coach or even an organization. It doesn't mean we don't support them. Your last word "yet" speaks volumes. -

Dude you gotta step up your sarcasm game. But your support of Sean is both commendable and adorable. -

I wouldn't have botched that kickoff call. You probably would've 73. -

That is correct. Choose a player, probably Kelce to hold and double team Hill. That way you still force a one play mini hail mary. We did neither on top of guarding the sidelines when you know Andy has all his timeouts. But again both defensive plays are moot if you force them to fair catch the kickoff at the 10 or 15. Sean did none of that. -

The butchered non squib/pop kick will always 100% be on McDermott. He's the fricken HC. Take your ST out on the field and tell them what to do. Don't "hope" a lackey tells Farwell who in turn tells Bass something else. Pop that kick up inside the 10 and the games over. -

.....you'd think? Good, then why do we waste so much FA $ and draft picks on defense. -
So true. Anytime we need a big sack it's nowhere to be found. You'd think on paper Von, Floyd and Groot should get you 30+ between them. This will be a make or break season for McD. No excuses, you're calling the plays like Reid & Shanahan. The key to our offense is 2 fold. First the OL must step up over 5 years of mediocrity. Protect 17 and create holes for Cook/Harris. Secondly Kincaid has to shine his rookie year and be that 2nd outlet moving the chains. If these things happen we'll be a problem for most teams, regardless of the inconsistent coaching.

.....so does Joe....

I agree Dan & the Danettes are fun to listen to. The problem with most LA sports talk, it's so much less sports and more fluff. That's why I have to tolerate the Terd. He mostly sucks but at least he mentions Bills football weekly. I will not miss Max & Key in the morning drive.

Keyshawn was nails on the chalkboard. No loss there.

We're not asking the defense in the playoffs to shut anyone out or hold teams under 20 points. But you can't go down 14-0 against Cincy and a banged up OL by the time I get back from my refrigerator. That's inexcusable. How do our equipment guys get the cleats wrong. Dorsey to some extent struggled in his rookie season. Josh wills this team to a top5 offense status by just showing up. But we need an opportunistic D like KC has, in order to beat teams while still allowing 20+ points. -

The lack of a bona-fide #2 wr absolutely kills this team. I think it's also effects the recent Diggs behavior. Teams know after Stefon we're vulnerable. That's why Diggs is getting doubled more than ever. This year's team will have to depend more on Knox, Kincaid, Harty & Sherfield for support. I personally have closed the book on Gabe. Whatever he contributes will be supplemental. If Hyde, Von and Tre can return healthy this defense will compete. But once we enter the playoffs, we must absolutely have a strong secondary target besides Diggs. -
CB Separation analysis - Sauce is ridiculous

We've had "bend don't break" defenses since the beginning of time. They don't even remotely work in the playoffs against the elite teams. Coaches from Walt Corey to Sean McDermott just don't get it. -
It's one thing not being a good game tactician or strategist. It's another not having a clue what to do with 13 seconds left. A huge ST blunder and 2 horrendous defensive calls. I think that "yet" is coming sooner than people think.

Apparently 7 people have drowned in the last 10 days in that area? Very sad news.

The Allen-Diggs Relationship in Decline?
LABILLBACKER replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Diggs wants to be helpful, try riding the players who are underperforming. Josh is not the problem and no one wants to win it all more than him. I think the Cincy loss simply exploded bent up emotions from Stefon after dealing with 3 straight years of brutal playoff exits. This has nothing to do with girlfriends, salary or not enough touches. If it is about playing somewhere else, Diggs better convince Jerry Jones to give us a ton in a trade. Beane's not getting fleeced. -
I agree. When guys like Saffold, Quessenberry and Brown get beat immediately, your qb is going to instantly go into happy feet mode. I think this behavior over the last 5 years is a huge result of our poorly rated OL since 2018. It also effects how little we run the ball. Hopefully this is the season guys like McGovern and Torrence can turn things around? Maybe Shell beats out Spencer?
-
Sean McDermott has had over 5 years to build a great OL. But because he's more interested in defensive objectives, Josh's play has been turned into hero ball. With a better OL the fumbles come down. With a better OL the finding open wr faster improves. And finally with a better OL, you're not constantly running for your life which would afford you more time to have "poise" in the pocket. We / I saw the true Josh Allen in those 2 playoff games of 2021. Once Dabs left everything reset for the worse.

I think we all have a pretty good idea of who McDermott is as far as historical HC's. It will be up to Josh to determine what legacy Sean has.
