  1. Lost some good guys today. Guys that put it all out there and helped the team achieve a sustained playoff run. But it was Bill Walsh I believe who said it’s better to cut a guy a year too early than a year too late. That plus the cap means vets with big contracts who are on the wrong side of 30 get cut. It sucks but it’s how things have to be done in today’s NFL.
  2. Not sure if he’s a lock but I’ll bet he’s on the roster
  3. A real pro and credit to the profession. Throat cancer- a terrible condition but he handled it with courage and grace. Godspeed Mort and sympathies to your wife, son, and ESPN family.
  4. End of an era for me. Peter King was a knowledgeable and great writer and part of a stable of great journalists at Sports Illustrated. Growing up and into my 40’s SI was must read; family knew Thursday night (when SI would generally arrive in the mail) was sacred. No one bothered me till every page was read. King, Zimmerman, Kirkpatrick, Deford, Gary Smith, Leigh Montville, Steve Rushin, Jack McCollum (sp.), Rick Reilly and many more. Unbelievably gifted writers that made SI a must for any sports fan. Now private equity money hogs have made a great magazine into nothing. All to chase a buck. It’s so damned depressing.
  5. MVP voting should not take place till the Super Bowl is done. As for Jackson vs. Allen, Jackson is not a big game QB. Teams shut him down in the playoffs and showcase his flaws. Allen plays big in big games, just has to get the rest of the team dialed in to get past KC. Bottom line to me, Lamar keeps his team from getting a Lombardi, the team around him keeps Josh from the Lombardi.
  6. Many on the right just say it’s a mental health issue. If that’s the case then bring up and pass legislation to improve mental health. I’ve seen nothing.
  7. See what he’s got in camp. Then renegotiate and/or structure an injury settlement if he can’t perform
  8. Yet another sickening tragedy. For those claiming it is solely a mental health issue as some politicians do, then here’s what I want to see: a bill to increase mental health care. Let’s see a bill that dedicates billions to recruitment and training of more mental health care professionals, more trained school counselors, more intervention. If not then I don’t want to hear a damn word from any of those hypocrites.
  9. Good progress. Always look to add talent up front - that’s where games are won and lost - but I’m fine with him as the starte.
  10. He is now a murdering degenerate, but there was nothing like watching him on a football field. He was phenomenal
  11. Beane talked about getting more explosive guys. Should be interesting to see who he brings in.
  12. May God grant you and your family peace. What a wonderful gift your wife was to you, and now through her donation to others.
  13. I think the window is open as long as he’s our QB
  14. As I said, you must be new. If you look through all the various threads you see this brought up a lot. But you know that, don’t you?
  15. He will evolve as he continues to mature. Like Elway did. You must be new around here
  16. He will need to transition more, but there is no question he has the arm to do so.
  17. Folks keep talking about Josh running out of time to win a championship. Here’s a link to ages of all SB winning QBs: Lots of older guys, some younger guys. I think the average age is around 31. So he’s got plenty of time. He will likely not be as much the runner, but that’s OK.
  18. If Brady wanted to be coached hard it ‘s OK for Josh to have the same.
  19. My heartfelt sympathies for you and the family.
