TSW 1.0 Draft Poll - Who should the Bills select at #59
JohnBonhamRocks replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can someone please explain to me the gap in talent between Benton and Ojulari? The latter seems a good choice at this pick to me and I’m unfamiliar with the former. -
Ideally I’d like a guy who can come in with versatility enough to compete at OG and/or RT his rookie year but who will end up being the starting C. (Like Avila…) Maybe they view Bates as the next C though, I dunno.
-
^ I think OT competition for Brown ain’t a bad choice, but maybe more importantly I want Morse’s heir apparent.

Jeff Okudah traded to Atlanta for a 5th

Gotta give a GM props if they know when to cut their losses and recoup something -
Looking less and less likely Avila slides, agreed. Hope he does! I think JSN, Addison, and Flowers are good picks at 27. True alpha WR1’s? No. But certainly WR1B-WR2 type guys. Flowers is small but still wins at all 3 levels and makes contested catches. Addison also wins at all 3 levels and is a route running technician. JSN I think will only be a bad pick if his medicals prevent it. Johnson, yeah, he’s good but maybe more of a Shenault-level WR. If we could make our pick this year another year, then I’d be all for it! But I think we have to use it on this draft. Maybe you’d prefer a trade down for picks next year, but this team needs contributors for this season. I wanted Reader badly that year. Great value for round 5. Been missing the days of Pat Williams and Sam Adams in the middle.

I mean, I was half joking, but I do think most of these posts are probably a result of doing a GM/FO a favor than actually polling every NFL GM/FO. IMHO, regardless of whether they are a "WR1", there are 3-4, maybe 5, WRs I'd be happy with at 27. Definitely JSN, Flowers, and Addison. Johnston probably too (haven't looked into him much b/c he's likely not making it to 27). Maybe Hyatt. The draft OL early and often bit? You're speaking my language. To me the best value seems to be Avila in round 2 if he lasts to our pick.

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
JohnBonhamRocks replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m trying to understand why ARI would cut him. Get something in return. Still holding out hope for a 3-team trade sending Hopkins to BUF, Oliver to CHI, and draft picks to ARI. -
Which is the exact reaction Beane hoped to create when he asked Nagy to post this “news”
-
Prioritizing in general yes. Positional value prioritizes WR and OT over LB though. Campbell would have to be decidedly better than Addison or whatever OT. I don’t think specifically the Campbell vs. Addison has a clear cut BPA winner, but imho Addison will be the better pro.

Poll Closed (Former thread of TSW Draft 1.0)

On your first point, likely gone but would not be shocked if he fell. A run on QB and CB could happen. Plus I think anywhere from 3-5 WRs could go before him. On your second point, I think one of those RTs who could either stay there or move inside would be a decent way to split the baby so to speak. Gouraige, Bergeron, Voorhees, Asim Richards, etc. -
I think his floor is solid WR2 and ceiling is low end WR1, kind of a WR1B. Knows how to run a full route tree and is a technician. Production. Quick, good accelerator and separator. YAC. Can play inside and outside. Can beat you short or deep. Smart football player. I'd be very happy with him at 27.

Addison all the way -

Torrence B. Jones Mayer Washington Addison Flowers Hyatt Downs Rice Campbell Sanders

I hope the real NFL draft has a secret message board thread with all the GMs posting in it just like this.
-
Looked at the OP and for a moment was pretty shocked Kirby Jackson went 1st overall
-
I would be ecstatic if this very unrealistic offense-heavy Fanspeak mock draft happened... 27: R1 P27 WR Zay Flowers - Boston College 59: R2 P28 LB Jack Campbell - Iowa 91: R3 P28 G Steve Avila - TCU 130: R4 P28 TE Sam LaPorta - Iowa 137: R5 P2 RB Israel Abanikanda - Pittsburgh 205: R6 P28 QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson - UCLA ...but it won't.
-
Not sure if I’d rather give Jones someone who is a good separator or someone who is a contested catch guy. To be fair I think Flowers can do a bit of both. Hope he does not go to NE* as I think he’s very talented.
-
My preferred scenario is one of JSN, Addison, or Flowers is there at 27. 🤞
-
Keeps happening on Fanspeak for some reason
-
27: R1 P27 OT Paris Johnson Jr. - Ohio State 59: R2 P28 C Steve Avila - TCU 91: R3 P28 S Ji'Ayir Brown - Penn State 130: R4 P28 RB Roschon Johnson - Texas 137: R5 P2 LB Ivan Pace Jr. - Cincinnati 205: R6 P28 WR Tre Tucker - Cincinnati

I disagree in that I think there are a few guys in round 1 who can be WR2/3 right away, which is all we really need - another top 3 WR who is ideally a great WR2. I agree with you in that I bet Beane sits to see if any of his guys make it to 27 before pulling the trigger on a Hopkins trade.
