  1. A time traveler in 2019, watching the Bills missed the playoffs for 19 consecutive years. Kidding... I'm more optimistic than that.
  2. Agree wholeheartedly. Also, I don't think Pegs wants to pay anymore fired Coaches or GMs to sit at home... so that's a natural force in favor if stability.
  3. I think the people who imagine RB playing football ops don't understand what the President of a complex organization does. It's an enormous job. So many people underestimate RB's daily workload. People who underestimate team President workload, project themselves into the President's shoes and imagine "Not enough work.. I'm bored, what shall I do.... hmmm... meddle in the football side. Yeah. That's what I'll do!.." There are 150+ full time employees and 50 to 100 players. And countless game day employees and contractors... on the Bills side alone. The Sabres is probably similar. The President has 11 direct reports: Chief Administrative Officer EVP & General Counsel Sr. VP of Football Administration VP of Communications VP of Ticket Sales and Service VP of Information Technology VP of Community Relations VP Operations and Guest Experience VP of Government Relations and External Affairs Special Assistant Executive Assistant (President) the Sabres side would be similar Organizational theory says that any more than 7 direct reports may be suboptimal. RB has a busy day without playing football stratego. RB has done a good job. One of the major strategic success he accomplished: regionalizing the team--bringing in even more fans from Ontario and Central NY. That is why the team is here... Peg's would not have purchased a half filled game day stadium. Someone said "..he weaseled his way to the top of two teams.." LOL, I detect envy, not valid criticism An out of town fan said Bocce: I'm blessed to be a few minutes from (listed in preference order): Bocce, Leonardi's, Franco's, Bruno's and Gino's.
  4. Boneheads ... Russ is business operations, and he does a good job. Your woes as a Bills fan have zero to do with the business end. Sure, in the past he had a failed stint at football ops. But that is past, by several years.
  5. Too long; didn't read all nine pages of posts, so please forgive if this is a repeat thought. It's all connected to the cliche "training camp arms." Starting camp with more arms than less is better. Otherwise an and/or will happen. You'll overwork the arm of a starter and #1 backup, and/or there won't be enough training camp passing reps to develop the rest of the roster. Five coming into camp feels like a good number.
  6. Such negative people here. And the disrespect for Pegs is totally unwarranted. The man turned a $20,000 investment into 4+ billion... he's not a clueless idiot. After this bump in the road, the Bills will be fine. Prediction: Bills 9-7, Sabres above .500 We'll see how people feel this time next year. PS: people bemoaning Russ influence... put your tinfoil hats on, send your conspiracy theories to the Alien Encounters TV show. I never realized how much certain segments of the population needed a bogeyman. You Anti-Russites!
  7. 14:43 video post I tried it at 17:30 = blocked video The NFL is a fast league.
  8. I'm not naming names.. because I don't know the field in that fanatical detail. Day 2: Cornerback and Wide Receiver. (if day 1 was CB, go WR. if day 1 was WR, go CB)
  9. Thanks. I know locally, electric fences are prohibited by code in most towns. I guess Elma still has pasture land being grazed.
  10. Oh those DeMatha boys, they know how to party. The shocking part: what part of town was he in that has an electric fence?
  11. If the Bills pick any QB in this draft, combine that with the Yates signing----and you can reasonably deduce the Cardale is done as a Bill. Russ told me that Whaley couldn't figure out the Capri Sun. He punched the straw clear through the pouch and sprayed high fructose all over the table.
  12. Why did I skim 3 pages of this thread? I want a refund of those 70 seconds.
  13. I think the point that was being made was the act of seizing a team from a private owner is something that happens in commie land.
  14. Regarding the -ism's ... this could be Communism, or if you held to the light a certain way at noon, it could be socialism. The -ism's are as well defined as a jelly fish that way. Communism or Socialism with a few rare exceptions, end up sucking for their people. Ask Venezuela. ---------------------- Author asserts community ownership is righteous and will make everyone happier. I doubt it. Sure Green Bay is a success. But could you imagine Mayor Brown or Marc Poloncarz running the Bills better than the Pegulas? Bill DeBlasio running the Jets and Giants? Oh wait, that would be a pol from New Jersey. State of the ever falling bond rating. Because you know, government is so efficient with other peoples money. Government should do the bare minimum in people's lives. Including not running a football team.
  15. Om my gosh... corrected. I haven't had enough coffee yet.
  16. Well, that's an awfully dark sentiment. I see it differently. What is more important, pick one: very good coaching very good front office very good sync between front office and coaching (regardless of how good they are individually) I choose very good coaching as the most important factor in team success. The Bills sucked because Rex sucked. FO could have been rock stars, and it probably would have added only game to the W column. I'm cautiously optimistic because I think the Bills may have the right coach. FO is average, while that sucks, it isn't a death sentence if the coach is good or better.
  17. A constructive reply for a teachable moment. Source: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/a-versus-an Example: Correcting someone's grammar is considered a dick move, with the exception that the recipient just insulted you, called you an idiot. --------------- Mahome and Watson are not pick 10 material. pick 25+, yes. We have Taylor, so we're not in the desperate situation of drafting someone higher than they are worth.
  18. Not over paying ... that's a rarity for the Bills. Instead of hometown discount, they usually do the Stockhom-effect hometown overpay.
  19. I'm not normally a superstitious guy, but another 1st round Mike Williams?. We didn't do so well with the first Mike Williams. Maybe a pass (pun intended) is in order if this guy is still on the board when the Bills are on the clock.
  20. Did you see the movie Miracle on Ice? Rent it if you haven't. Yes. He is the Mario Williams of 2017. I snorted my Titos & Soda through my nose when I read that. I have a teen daughter who dips her pizza in ranch.. so gross. Can we at least get rid of the public sex, and the guys setting themselves afire? Yep. The players are millenials. Millenials are not fans of hard work. I hope they become Bruce Smith. He was the grand slack master his first years here. Then something snapped in him and he got in shape, and ...gasp... started studying film on his own without being told to. You know the rest of the story.
  21. It's SAT time. R. Brandon is to the Bills as G. Costanza is to the ______________
  22. Well done. Captain Sarcasm is your new Delta Tau nickname.
  23. By these threads, you mean a thread beating a dead horse... Yes. But unless there was some originality in it, it would quickly disappear off the first page of the forum. Example: A Ralph is Cheap thread, unless there was a big new example of cheapness, would quickly be lost in the froth. Sometimes a 26 page thread is 5 pages of good discussion followed by 21 pages of 2 or 3 people debating each other--usually civilly. If you visit regularly, you learn which threads not to open.
  24. I vote for closed thread. I'm not judging the OP, just saying this doesn't introduce any new information or new analyses that haven't been discussed ad nauseum in all the other threads here.
  25. George Costanza saw Watson at the combine and said: it moved.
