  1. Thanks. I've been wrapping pills in canned dog food. It works but is messy as heck. I was aware of pill-pockets, but I was not aware of chewy.com... which outscores Amazon in price. Thanks!
  2. ...and when they are retired racers, like Lilly, there is something especially soulful about them I can't put my finger on. Professional athletes.. see what they do to us
  3. Does the construction index account for WNY politics incompetence** and graft? I don't think so. Todays dollars, a 750 million dollar project nationally equals 1+ billion here, I reckon. ** We couldn't even get a Chick-Fil-A in our airport for goodness sakes.
  4. She's resting here in her favorite sofa spot. Greyhounds are thin by nature, but your can see here she's a bit too thin even for a Greyhound. Fattening her up has been a real challenge. She's such a good girl.
  5. Thanks. Your thread should stand. This is Off The Wall.. different standards should apply. I wish you grace in whatever situation faces you.
  6. Yep. They pumped up her up with IV's. That seems to have been the turning point. Right now, liver numbers are elevated. We'll have to figure that out.
  7. *** UPDATE *** Thank you everyone one for kind words of understanding and support. Diagnosis: Leptospirosis, which is very hard to treat, often fatal. I couldn't afford the overnight vet hospital bills any longer, 3 nights was enough. I told the vet she was coming home--one way or another. So I brought Lilly home with a sack full of pills to administer. She is resting in her favorite spot and being a darn good patient. I love her. Wish me luck at being a dog nurse.
  8. Thank you for your words. Here I am days and many dollars later, trying to decide the best action. She was not doing well at the Vet today, and clearly wanted to come home. I'm tempted to bring her home tomorrow for a good nights sleep on the sofa with my daughter, then bring her back to be put down. I'm crying now, which is unusual for me. Yes. They do a daily CBC. Nothing stands out as a cause. Right now she is stable, but has a continuous twitch which the Vet attributes to elevated sodium and imbalanced electrolytes. It's no way to live, I don't know how much longer I'll let it go on.
  9. I must misunderstand contract extensions. I thought they lock you in. I didn't know you could sign an extension, then leave whenever you want. Heh.
  10. I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. Really.
  11. One of my dogs is seriously sick. It's a new experience for me as I have gotten bullet proof dogs my whole life. This is big bucks, I won't go into the total. I feel like all I'm paying for is a 24 hour IV. I told the vet one night only. If they can't get her comfortable by tomorrow I may have them put her down. One, I have little confidence in the vet, they really don't know what is going on--their words. Two, she is in pain. Three, I can't afford the Cleveland Clinic approach to pet health care. She's only 4 years old. I feel tremendous guilt in maybe putting her down.
  12. That about sums it up. Though 3 may be slightly exaggerated.
  13. Not embarrassed. When I lived in DC area, I was almost always greeted by another fan. It's amazing how many out of town Bills fans there are. Data showing the out -of-town followers and ranking teams would be interesting.
  14. 65 winter 72 summer I get away with low temps because the system is unbalanced: 65 at the thermostat gives me about 68 in the bedrooms.
  15. She'll get a light sentence, that seems to be the trend. Then it's conjugal visits!
  16. Bean.. the witch.. has filled roster holes in FA. That allows for drafting the cliche Best Player Available, regardless of position. That's a luxurious position the Bills haven't had in God knows how long.
  17. Interesting that a mobster chose to live in Staten Island. Every other resident there is a NYPD officer.
  18. I like New England Clam Chowder. My favorite soup joke: Elaine: Yeah. I met this lawyer, we went out to dinner, I had the lobster bisque, we went back to my place, yada yada yada, I never heard from him again. Jerry: But you yada yada'd over the best part. Elaine: No, I mentioned the bisque.
  19. PTSD alert for us ancients: I haven't forgiven John Y Brown since he moved the Braves out of town.
