Bills draft positions that benefitted Chiefs: Worthy, Mahomes, Araiza. And then the inability or lack of interest to move up a couple spots to grab McDuffie (and then wasted their pick on Elam). Other than Allen, what do we have to show for all the wheeling and dealing? The Chiefs thanked us Sunday night, the best way they know how. I hate them.

I think the Coleman pick mirrored the Elam pick. In both cases, the Bills were at the back of the line when there was a run on CBs when Elam was the consolation prize, and same with WRs last year. In both instances the Bills ‘reached’-something Beane and most GMs avoid, preferring to take ‘best available player’. But the Bills, picking late missed the boat and were desparate. With Elam, Wallace was gone in FA and White was still rehabbing the knee. There wasn’t much choice but to take Elam. My guess is they were targeting McDuffie, but just missed out when the Chiefs took him (figures). Then last year Gabe and Stef being gone created a gaping hole at that position. Again, the Bills reached. Coleman, in my opinion, he’s not at all worthy of a top 35 pick. I have my doubts that he’ll ever amount to more than a journeyman role player. The Bills are paying a fortune for an elite QB. Please make the most of that investment and get him some talent to throw to.

Josh is great, though he has his moments when he reverts to sugar high Josh. He can't carry the whole team into and winning a super bowl. In my opinion, McDermott has done just about all he can with a fairly average roster, with the exceptions of QB1, RB1 and The nickel. The LBs and O-line are decent enough, though not always dominant. They have nobody on their D-line that opposing offenses need to have a special game plan for. Their WR group is serviceable, but there's nobody that puts fear in the secondary of their opponents. Say what you want about McDermott's record, but it's still better than almost every other coach besides Reid. In a 'transition year' in which the team wasn't expected to hit double digit wins by most prognosticators, it's to the coach's credit that they beat both defending conference champions along with the Lions, who were practically unbeatable at the time, on their way to a 13 win season. Would have been 14 if they played as if they cared against the Pats. As I've questioned too many times in this debate, who would you tag for McDermott's replacement that would be a fair bet to yield better results? The coaching landscape is littered with 'can't-miss' coordinators who crashed and burned and wasted several years on the fans' watch while they had their on the job training. I don't care to pin my hopes on a first time head coach. McDermott and Allen will get there eventually. They still need a few more playmakers and a couple of holes to fill on the roster.

Hamlin, the honeymoon’s over. Glad you’re healthy, but no more kid gloves. Way to knock our top CB out of the game. Hamlin looks like he’s wearing double guardian caps on his helmet. A fitting nickname: jiffy pop

1/26/25 GAMEDAY AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Bills @ Chiefs Gameday Thread

Probably. I was being semi-facetious by making the point he’s as good as gone after this year. -

I think the Bills are just being generous by letting him play in his last game on the active roster as a Buffalo Bill. 😉 -
AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
SoMAn replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
This will be the 4th time in their history that the Bills will be playing the Chiefs to determine which team goes to the Super Bowl. 1966 L 1993 W 2020 L 2024 TBD The Bills are 1-2 in those contests. Time to even it up! Go Bills! -
The NFL has one goal- make as much money as possible. KC can provide more revenue. Kansas City is the golden child. Rock star Mahomes is all over commercial ads, Taylor and Travis. 3-peat. Great storylines. The NFL wants the Chiefs again. I have little doubt it won’t happen. And now we’ve got the flag-happiest NFL officiating crew overseeing this contest. Unless the Bills pull out all the stops and play nearly error-free ball, I don’t see them advancing this year. Not because they’re not good enough, but because the NFL wants to control the narrative that will yield maximum $$$$$.

Would the Bills get a million people in the parade if they won?

No. Parades blow. No. Parades blow. No. Parades blow. -
All this talk about lack of separation in passing game

I'm skeptical that Coleman will ever amount to any more than James Hardy 2.0. He's got the size and is athletic, but maybe he is better suited to basketball. He's dropped several. Other than a few jump balls, I can't think of any instances in which he made a contested catch or one that was slightly behind where he had to use more concentration. The Bills still need an elite # 1 wideout to put this offense into the stratosphere. -
I feel the same way, considering the anticipated outcome for 2024 prior to the start of the season. The Bills have far exceeded expectations. Yes, we will be disappointed if they fail to win it all, but I can't honestly say it could be viewed as a failed season. When the schedule was released last May and we saw the gauntlet of top teams they'd face, how many fans actually thought there was much chance of having double-digit wins and securing the division title by early December? And in 2025, with a stockpile of draft picks they can bundle to either move up, or just target good prospects they can coach up. Hopefully, they'll be able to plug some of the holes. Would love to see Josh get an elite WR and find a wide-body athletic DT disrupter to man the middle of the D-line and reinforce the run D. Could use another corner. Expect Mr. Inactive, Elam to be gone. Additionally, they'll have greater ability to sign free agents with more available cap money. BTW - Buffalo has become an attractive destination for free agents looking to be part of a championship team. If they manage to win a Super Bowl, it will be a real Cinderella story. It would sure make for a great real life feel-good movie highlighting the path of Buffalo Joe, ending with a Bass 47-yard FG to win the Super Bowl. 🙂 Whatever happens, I'll look back on the 2024 season that gave us a lot of joy.

Those shorts remind me of some of the idiotic artsy films that came out in the late 60s made by drugged out film students. Images and ideas skipped all over the place, providing minimal entertainment value unless the viewer was on the same wavelength and chemicals. It's only my opinion, but the shorts don't seem to make much sense. Maybe I need a hit of orange sunshine to appreciate them. I'll pass.

If that ADD-inspired bizarro nonsensical content is appealing to the under-21 Gen Z audience, the mental acuity needed to appreciate it may explain the sub par service and products we frequently get at fast food restaurants these days.

I wanted to post this. Thanks for beating me to it

It’s great to hear local Bills’ talk. I listen to One Bills Live on my 20 min drives to and from work. But why is it half the faceless callers i imagine as bald whiskey-nosed retirees sitting in their dreary basement bar, drinking Utica Club, farting, and bellowing through their deviated septums about how they’ve been a fan since the days of Kemp and Sestak. The other half sound like they have some speech impediment? It’s usually the same 4 or 5 callers. To their credit, Brown and Tasker are exceptionally gracious with callers.

Well, the Bills interrupted LB Klein’s vacation to suit him up for the divisional game last season. At least Hyde has been participating in practice, so it’s not as if he’s unfamiliar with the schemes and his teammates.

Tim McVeigh. Maybe Mark David Chapman, now that he’s a local in Alden, NY.

Personally, this Ravens matchup is my "McDermott Game."

Well, there you go! Hire Belichick and start planning the parade. No chance of mutiny by the players- you know the same loyal ones who came to McDs defense by winning 7 straight games after a writer dragged the coach in one of his columns. Does Belichick bring in McDaniels and the rest of his old NE staff, or does Joe Brady, Kromer, Babich and the rest of the staff send McD off with a one-finger salute while pinning their career onto the aging (aged) ex-Patriots coach? The level of stupidity is remarkable. -

I don’t dispute that Belichick has a brilliant defensive mind, but the reality is that his head coaching record without Brady is very average 82-97, a winning percentage of .463, far below McDermott’s win percentage. And oh yeah, zero Super Bowl appearances without Brady. Brady is arguably the GOAT. Josh was a raw prospect who needed some refining, and is now starting to show the maturity needed to be one of the best. Could the Bills win the Super Bowl with Josh and Belichick? I don’t know. I don’t really need to find out if hiring a 72-year-old coach to start over is a great idea. SMH -

Ok genius. Put on your GM hat. Who’s your new hire as Bills coach? Do you have an actual solution or are you just a whiner who’s all butt-hurt because your Bills lose in the playoff. -

I think some of you don’t have a grasp on the difficulty of getting to, let alone winning a Super Bowl. There are several NFL coaches who have made Super Bowl appearances, some of whom have a Lombardi in the display case. McVay, Harbaugh, Payton, Tomlin among them. All great coaches, but multiple Super Bowl wins have been elusive. Did they suddenly suck at coaching? Every year there are several outstanding coaches, some whom make the playoffs and some who don’t. Winning the big game is having everything come together in ‘the perfect storm’. Coach, QB, GM, draft choices who contribute, and sometimes a little luck with the bounce of that weird ball. As a Bills’ fan, the last thing I’d want is an owner with a knee jerk reaction that would fire a coach like McDermott, only to start from scratch by gambling on another, probably with less experience. That’s a great recipe for a revolving door of coaches (and players) that get changed out every 2 or 3 years and brings back those nostalgic days of an extended playoff drought. Keep calling for a new coach. Be careful what you wish for.
