Looking at head-to-head, McDermott has done well against the coaches on that list. A couple of near misses (Eagles, Broncos) thanks to FGs. But beyond that, lists and rankings are subjective. They're typically nothing more than a means for lazy content providers to publish something to stir up debate and get clicks when they've got nothing to write about.

Without reading through the 4 pages of this thread, has anyone yet asked/answered the question: What is McDermott's head-to-head record against the more highly-rated coaches?

Excited to see the Bills play live, here in Atlanta, and eager to watch as Bills Mafia takes over the city and the stadium. Barring injury (to me or him), it will be my first opportunity to watch Josh in-person. side note: For many years I never missed at least one game each season. Even living in Atlanta I had Bills season tickets for a couple of seasons during the Super Bowl years. This it the longest period (since 2008) in my life I've gone without seeing them play. I may try to get up to Highmark one last time before it's over. Go Bills!

Cautiously optimistic about an improved and fortified defensive line. There are a lot of 'ifs' that go into the equation. 'If' the 2nd & 3rd year youngsters (Carter, Soloman), the new recruits (Sanders, Jackson, Walker), the 'suspendees', (Ogunjobi & Hoecht), and vets (Epenesa, Rousseau, Oliver) kick it up a notch to make an impact, I'm excited for what could be a defense that will be a compliment to the Josh Allen-led offense. IF the D-line can become something close to an elite NFL unit, the LBs and DBs will look that much better. late breaking edit: I didn’t even include Bosa-maybe the biggest ‘if’ of all. Realistically, I’m not counting on much from him. If he contributes anything, for me, it will just be a bonus.

I get that this was posted with tongue in cheek, but a reminder that before Norwood was targeted as the bad guy in Super Bowl XXV (he wasn't)*, he had been a dependable pro bowl kicker. Cousineau never amounted to much in the NFL after a stint in Canada, but the rights the Bills held to him were subsequently packaged to acquire the 1983 first round draft pick that became Jim Kelly. * Norwood's missed kick is too often given as the reason for the Bills' loss to the Giants. It's not the reason, just the most memorable moment. The reality is that Parcells and Belichick outsmarted the Bills, letting the Kelly offense get cold while the Giants slowing controlled the ball after halftime. The Bills defense missed about 7 tackles on Mark Ingram on a 3rd and 11, keeping the Giant's drive alive to score. That was a bigger factor in the outcome. On the other side, when Belichick deployed 7 DBs to counter the no-huddle, the Bills should have run Thurman down their throats all game long. Time of possession was a key.

It works in Minneapolis, right? They can get a decent amount of snow. I'm sure there are engineering advancements and new materials that can be used in construction to handle the snow for a translucent roof design.. There could be radiant heat incorporated to melt snow as it falls. The old 'can't handle the snow' is an antiquated argument, probably based memories of the old air-supported stadium roofs that were designed decades ago, and experienced a one-time collapse. There are flat roofs on commercial buildings all over WNY that get as much snow on top as what's on the ground. They don't collapse every winter. I've never like domes, but the new designs that allow much natural light has me re-thinking that position.

Looking for the silver lining....if Cook isn't playing for the Bills this year, at least we'll be spared the radio highlight excitement of Chris Brown's tired and somewhat contrived, "the cook is in the kitchen !!!!".

The key part to any negotiation is knowing the reasonable market value for whatever product or service you're offering, otherwise you're just pissing in the wind. We don't know how much of the posturing is coming directly from Cook, his agent in his ear, or big brother giving him bad advice. If James wants to take the same route as big bro, good luck with your journeyman, falling salary. James is already close to his peak and may be on the way down in a year or two. He'd be smart to take whatever the Bills offer (within reason) and shut TFU.

No. He's great asset to have in the offense, but he's not an every down player. If Josh went down, there would be a big drop-off with his replacement. If Cook was out for whatever reason, the drop-off would be noticeable, but hardly devastating if limited to the trio of Davis, Johnson, and Gore Jr. You could even make the argument that the passing game out of the backfield might even be improved. It doesn't take Jerry McGuire to see that Cook is not in the same tier as Henry, Barkley, McCaffrey, Taylor et al. As proof, would any of those backs be offered in trade as an even swap for Cook? Of course not. The teams with the rights to those backs would undoubtedly demand further compensation. Without the experience of a draft cap expert or NFL GM, any one of us can easily peg Cook as an 11-12 million/year RB, maybe with a few incentives. For a guy who probably couldn't physically be used as an every down back, he should be glad to get that much. Running Backs are not difficult to replace. If he wants to continue whine and demand more than he's worth, trade his ass to the Giants, Browns, or some other cellar dweller. If it comes to that, enjoy your career Jimbo, and enjoy having most of January free so you can watch the NFL playoffs from the comfort of your mansion.

The 'evil rich' and 'capitalism bad" mentality is a viewpoint I don't understand, particularly from people who've enjoyed the American way of life. Is it envy? The way a homely high school chick hates the head cheerleader because she's not as popular? You're a working stiff, so you hate those living the high life? Most billionaires in this country didn't inherit the wealth. Most are like Terry Pegula, who had a skill/education in a particular field, had business savvy, recognized a market need, exploited it, and got rich. Youtube and the NFL charge insane amounts of money for service, merch, and tickets, unthinkable 20 years ago. But it's only because there's a market for it. Participation is 100% voluntary. If you don't want to pay to see your team, you still have the option to watch at least 5 games each week that are broadcast for free. Using pirate streaming is stealing whether or not it agrees with your level or morality, Yes, the NFL is greedy. But, it's because they can be. It's the American way! But I guess, so is trying to get over on the man!😊

NFL+ for around $99/year... BUT the games are only shown after completion of the 'live' game. i.e.-A Bills 1pm game will start airing on the NFL app around 4pm after the final gun. The caveat is if you want to enjoy it as a live game without knowing the outcome, you need to stay off the grid and turn your phone off, otherwise all the people in your social circle who know you're a Bills fan will start texting you with "great game", or "the Bills got robbed". I've opted out of the NFL Sunday ticket this year. The price keeps going up but that's not the main reason. With the BIlls being shown nationally, probably at least 8-10 times, and the Bills playing the Falcons division (I'm in ATL), it's not a very good value to pay $479 for what may amount to 5 or 6 games. At that price point, I may as well go to a Bills Backers bar or watch a couple of games on NFL+ with the delay. I also have a friend (Bills fan)nearby who's getting the ticket this year, so I can watch a game or two with him. Sadly, the days are long gone of calling Directv, threatening cancellation, getting the ticket for free, and then additional credits and free premium channels as an extra. Suckers.

Same. Former WNYer, longtime Bills fan. I have about a 25 minute commute each way during the week. There's nothing on local radio I want to listen to*, and I've had the same CDs in my car for 3 years**. So, I pull up Audacy and listen to 20 minutes of Bills talk on the way in and on the way home. * broadcast radio is unbearable with at least 50% of any hour now filled with commercial advertising (the same ads over and over). ** Yes, I still have the same car with a 6-disc CD player that I bought new, 18 years ago. My wife's car we bought new 20 years ago. They both run great, so I'm having a hard time justifying getting another new car. 😄 But, I'm looking.

Agree. As stated previously, I believe it will be a great place to watch a game. For me, and obviously just my opinion, the exterior design with the floppy canopy is not that pleasing, and I suspect it will appear very dated in a few years as more modern football stadiums are built for NFL teams.

I'm repeating something I wrote recently on another fan site with the usual cries of 'fire/replace McDermott". Of course, when asked how they'd remedy the head coaching status, without a cogent argument they inevitably say "Bill Belichick". Duh. Great idea. Alienate the roster and the GM who love McDermott and start over with a 73 year old coach. Belichick has six rings as head coach out of 29 seasons as head guy, so to think it's automatic is ridiculous. He never won a Super Bowl without Brady, yet Brady has won one without Belichick. Do the math. He might be a good coach, but that ship has sailed. Has any other Super Bowl winning coach gone on to win one with another team? Jimmy Johnson? Parcells? Something to ponder - Tomlin, Harbaugh, McVay, Payton, and Carroll - all have success as the head man and have won a Super Bowl. They have nearly 80 combined seasons as an NFL head coach between them, and a grand total of 5 Super Bowl wins, 1 each. Andy Reid was a head coach for 19 years before winning a Super Bowl! When 'fans' cry "fire McDermott", they clearly have no conception of how difficult it is to make it to a Super Bowl and win one. So much of it is just the right combination of keeping key players, developing new players, a good personnel dept, team chemistry, maintaining health, and sometimes one or two calls by the zebras can be the difference. There's a fine line. Personally, I hope McDermott remains in Buffalo for many years to come.

I believe it’s going to be a nice venue with updated amenities and great site lines, but aesthetically, it’s just ugly. The dipsy-doodle canopy looks like a deflated bicycle tire. I do wonder if the shadows will play tricks with TV cameras. For me, the current stadium is more majestic, and just prettier- having a bit of the look of a traditional college football stadium. For $2.2B they could have built something with a bit more style on the facade.

Whoever can afford the best wedding gifts… Pegulas, Tom Brady, Mickelson, Mahomes, and a few Hollywood muckety-mucks. Maybe Trubisky can be there as ring-bearer, but he’s got to leave after the wedding and can’t stay for the reception.
