  1. Agree, and in the end it may be a plus. It didn't contribute to a loss in that game, and the learning experience may benefit them in the future.
  2. Jets superfan definition: World class A-hole. My impression of him is that he thinks is far more important than he really is. If I were a season ticket holder sitting near him, I'd have to exercise self-discipline to restrain my opinions and fists.
  3. Forgive me for repeating this, but it's a stat I was amazed (and happy) to learn recently; In 54 seasons since the NFL-AFL merger, the Jets have won the division title twice. TWICE! The fewest number of titles for all NFL teams since 1970. Along with that they've appeared in a grand total of 4 AFC Championships games, losing all 4, so no Super Bowl appearances since the merger. It's understandable how a Jet fan could label that as the best day in a decade. Pretty much one of the better days in 5 decades. It's not too late to join the mafia. 🙂 Edit: side note...I really despise that Fireman Ed douche bag at Jets games who thinks everyone in Met Life is there to see him. My next birthday wish will involve him.
  4. I doubt another 'name' receiver would fit into the 2024 budget. Bean and the Bills are building for long-term success, so it's unlikely they're going to be looking at more aging WRs or one year rentals in hopes of getting to the show. They've already lost head to head matchups with the Texans and Ravens - 2 teams that will probably be seeded higher come playoff time. If the Bills don't have a complete collapse, they should coast to a division title and playoff berth. But I don't see them as serious super bowl contenders. That said, hope they hold on to the rest of their 2025 draft picks (or parlay some into higher picks) and continue building for the future with their star QB anchoring the team.
  5. I believe it was prior to the broadcast (or was it somewhere else?) that the commentator mentioned that this officiating crew called the most penalties. I understand that it's their job to cite penalties, but sometimes they're just a bit over-zealous. There was a flag thrown on one of the TDs that was nowhere near the run, and I believe the runner was already crossing or into the endzone when the infraction occurred. The play was effectively over, yet here comes the laundry. Why? To slow the game down even more? Over officiating, particularly on a late prime time game is almost guaranteed to send half the audience to bed before the 4th quarter. If it hadn't been the Bills, I sure wouldn't have stayed up to watch. I hope the NFL reviews this and looks for ways to keep games from becoming boring snooze fests. It should be about the game, not the zebras.
  6. I know almost nothing about the cap as it doesn't much interest me, but I want to throw this in there....using the Von Miller example of saving 8.5 million, correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't account for whatever roster spot is used to fill that void, correct? So, in effect, if they replace him with a player making something close to 8.5, there's really no saving at all. The only benefit that I see is that the replacement would have to contribute more to wins than Miller, otherwise it's not a plus.
  7. Absolutely correct. Had he not broke stride the ball would probably have fallen right into his hands.
  8. If they can remain halfway healthy and get Shakir, Johnson, Oliver, Rapp, and Miller back in action, they should be ok, though I believe their pedestrian receiver corps will continue to haunt them throughout the year.
  9. Class act and one of the all time great Buffalo Bills. He was in Buffalo with other all-time Bills for what I believe must’ve been the 1999 home opener. Probably a 30th anniversary for the team. I was at that opening game as I always was until about 15 years ago. Anyway, on the flight back to Atlanta, Billy and his wife were seated directly across the aisle from me. Both were very outgoing and didn’t mind talking some Bills football. He handed me his recently acquired Hall of Fame ring to try on for size and then reached into his brief case to pull out a pair of specialty issued Billy Shaw #66 HOF trading cards that he’d signed and gave to me. That was a great way to cap off the Buffalo trip. Thanks #66 for all the great memories, on and off the field.
  10. That's been fairly typical for the Bills the past 2 or 3 years. Seems they're sometimes playing more reserves than they are the designated starters. Why? Bad luck? Coincidence? Ineffective strength and conditioning program? Overly cautious about returning players to action? Undersized players who get the worst of game action collisions? So, if I'm calculating correctly...just on Defense we're missing: 2 D-linemen, 2 LBs, 1 CB, 1 Safety. Is that right? Is there more?
  11. Go back a couple more years to the stellar 2020 13-3 season when they just barely missed the Super Bowl, it’s a totally different roster. And here we are in 2024, with probably less than 5 players that were starters in on that squad, and still appears to be one of the premier teams. But yeah, according to some of the geniuses who contribute here, McDermott needs to go since they haven’t won the big one yet. 🙄
  12. Couldn't agree more. I'm old school and was around for the super bowl era Bills when the Shout song became the scoring anthem. Before that it was that stupid 'Talking Proud" song in the 80s. But this is a whole different team that should have it's own themes that fans can identify exclusively with this version. For me, Shout! is played. Time to retire it as a post-score tradition. I don't care about red helmets, whammy weenies, Shout, Talking Proud, or any other Bills-affiliated relic from yesteryear. Other than an occasional glance for nostalgia's sake, I don't have much desire to cling to the past. Change is good. Leave the past where it belongs - in the Buffalo News archives or vintage news reels. Those teams, as much as we loved them, didn't win a super bowl. This one will.
  13. No doubt. Following the same philosophy he instills in his players, McDermott is always looking to improve himself and his staff to be the best version of himself. I think he's got the best 2 coordinators since 2017, and likely some very good position coaches also. Hoping they'll be able to raise the Lombardi before his coordinators start getting interviews.

  15. He thought this was the weekend to ‘fall back’ and he’d already re-set all his clocks.
  16. I usually don’t mind if it’s just my wife. Last game I was getting a little edgy and wasn’t real nice to be around. So, she decided to go into the bedroom and watch and leave me by myself-which was fine with me. I would frequently hear her cheering when there wasn’t much to get excited about. I just assumed the 2 TVs were out of sync because of pausing. At halftime she came back out to the living room, happy that the Bills won. ???? The 24-10 halftime score didn’t compute with her. Not being all that TV savvy, she didn’t know the game was on Amazon. She’d turned on the bedroom TV, found the game, but she’d been watching a Sunday night Bills-Dolphins game being replayed on the NFL network from last year I think.
  17. You can probably find instant grits in any supermarket grocery store, in the cereal section. Add some heat for killer shrimp and grits.
  18. On the plus side, I’ll be able to afford to take my family again from cheap resale tix after the Bills have a 3-15 record the previous year. High draft picks and cheap tickets…ahhh the good old days of yesteryear when Navy blue was the home uniform color.
  19. He's 8 for 8 on extra points and 3 for 4 on field goals in 2024. Something mechanically went wrong on the missed kick. Was it bad hold? Did his foot slip. Lost concentration? I don't know. What I do know is that he's nailed 11 out of the 12 place kicks he's been counted on to make and half the people in this forum have already pressed the panic button. Really? If misses on relatively 'easy' kicks becomes a trend over the course of several games, then it may be time to be concerned. Not yet.. The idea that they can just go out and find a kicker on the street or trade for a better one is idiotic. If there were a better one, he'd be wearing a jersey this weekend. Next topic.

  21. I fear that, if they haven’t already, teams/QBs will be perfecting the ‘instant slide’ in desperation situations in an attempt to get a gift 15 yards and first down. IMO, the rule needs to be revised to give officials some leeway if they believe the defender’s momentum was already going towards the QB before the QB committed to the slide, and the defender made an effort to avoid direct contact. Also, it should be a reviewable call.
  22. Looking for the best place to see the list of who’s active and inactive on game day and when is first released to the public? Link? thanks
  23. I would say the best way to gauge Bass on any particular Sunday would be to measure his performance against the opposing kicker who is playing in identical conditions. if the other team’s guy is splitting the uprights, but Bass is shanking them, on the field and in conditions he should be more familiar with….well, draw your own conclusions.
