HS team executes brilliant underhand thrown fake punt
SoMAn replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Reading his body language on that play, I'm pretty sure there wasn't any intent to 'fake slide'. To my eyes it appeared he started to go that way for a split second, assessed the situation, and before committing himself to it, he quickly changed his mind, deciding he could gain more yards. -
I'll be rooting for the Jets - to beat the Dolphins and anyone else the Bills see as a possible playoff rival. Stat of the day.... since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, the Jets have won their division twice - in 1998 and 2002. Quite the accomplishment. 54 seasons, two division titles. Glad they've been in our division. Now pinning their hopes on a 41-year-old QB coming off an achilleas tear who wasn't even that spectacular in his last full season. Good luck.

Week 1, Cards v. Bills - Predict the Score
SoMAn replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cards 23 Bills 16 -
The irony....after this topic was discussed yesterday.....when I got home in the afternoon I discovered our AT&T internet service was down. It still is. We believe it's the ONT box that connects the fiber optic cable to the modem that's (as they say in Buffalo) 'on the fritz'. So, to that point, glad I still have Directv, otherwise we'd have been without TV altogether until an AT&T tech can show up, hopefully this afternoon. Sure, in a pinch we could go cell service from the phone and mirror to the TV, but it's cumbersome and my wife can barely work the remote controls for regular everyday function. 😉

I just received a notification from them offering a one time $20 credit for the inconvenience caused during this dispute. I’ll take it.

True. Good point. I was probably getting off topic venting about the NFL spreading themselves over multiple outlets, forcing some fans into subscriptions they'd only need for very limited use. I'm pretty sure the viewers of NFL and college ball will be the loudest consumer voices that force their hand. And maybe few kids who need to watch their Disney programming.

Agree. It's still feels like the NFL is sticking it to their most loyal fan base. But, to your point, I agree - capitalism and the free market does work. The reality is that we have the ability to receive all the games we want as long as we're willing to pay for them in some fashion - even if it means multiple subscriptions. As I've stated before, it's not that many years ago that streaming and home satellite wasn't an option. We were limited to whatever games were being broadcast on our local networks that weekend. For me,, and many others, it's worth it to pay to be able to watch every game of our team. It just seems that the NFL is pushing us to the limit. They are masters at understanding their market value and generating revenue.

No. I wonder if all of us are nothing more than an A.I. experiment or a board game for something or someone that's beyond our comprehension. Do the players just laugh every time a new war breaks out or a tornado wipes out an entire town?

I hope you're right

All the stations that fall under the Disney umbrella have now pulled the plug on Directv pending a resolution with a new contract. That includes ABC, Hulu, and ESPN. It seems we go through this every year around football season with one of the cable or satellite carriers. I've had Directv since the mid-90's, retaining it after they no longer carry the NFL Sunday Ticket. Unlike some of you, I truly like their functionality, service, pricing, and accessibility to real people in Customer Service. Because of access to actual human beings in Customer Service, I've been able to negotiate phenomenal monthly service pricing and credits. For the past year I've paid $61/month for 3 TVs, Genie, MAX, and damage coverage. For the 5 years (or more) prior to Youtube winning NFLST contract, I was able to get the package either free, or greatly reduced with credits. So, don't give me a speech about how much you hate DTV. It's worked for me. So now, for the first time in years, I've bit the bullet and paying full discounted price for the ticket with Youtube. Ready to sit and enjoy (hopefully) all the Bills games in the comfort of my living room. Hold on! Now Disney has pulled their channels. There are 2 Monday Night ESPN games in less than 6 weeks featuring the Bills. Thinking I was covered for viewing my Bills, I may have to find another way to see those games if the dispute isn't resolved soon. In all honesty, other than those 2 games, I can't think of another program on any of their channels I want to watch. We're being forced to buy Amazon Prime, Peacock, Netflix, the NFL Ticket, Paramount, etc. just to see the games we want to watch. It's getting out of hand.

I agree with every word. It reflects my thoughts going into this season exactly. My loyalty to the team makes me want to be optimistic and predict another division crown with at least 11 wins. My more logical self says that the team has exactly 1 superstar, are still developing young players to replace exiting veterans, a division and other conference opponents that are catching up, and a gauntlet of a schedule. This is the first year since Josh emerged as a top QB that I’m not optimistic about the Bills’ chances of getting to the dance. Will the Bills have a winning season and make another record towards the playoffs or will they be talking draft in late December? I have no idea either.

I own the 1960 guide - the first ever. We call it the ‘floating head’ guide. For whatever reason it was a common practice in the world of graphics at that time to show only people’s heads. Just heads. It can be found in any newspaper ad from that era. A friend of mine gave that guide to me. He worked at a printer that may have been where it was printed. He probably found it when they cleared the place out. I have several from the late 80s into the 90s. Probably have ‘86 and ‘90, both missing. I’m about ready to get rid of all the Bills stuff.

Yes. First time I’ve paid for it in years, so that sort justified the cost. As a long time Directv customer who annually threatened to cancel, they gave it to me free for several years. Last year, with so many games in prime time I didn’t subscribe. Watched delayed on NFL+ app a couple of times and did pirated live stream a couple times. Local Anchor Bar once. Didn’t much like waiting until the game was over and trying not to hear the outcome spoiled. Had to stay off the grid. No TSW, no post game, etc. The live stream wasn’t always the best. Resolution mirrored to TV was ok, but not what we’re used to. I think one time the dude providing the game had VPN issues and just had his phone set up to capture his TV picture, with the dog crossing in front occasionally. One of the big reasons for getting the ticket this year is, living in Atlanta metro, the games offered on local TV are often the lousy NFC South teams and whoever they’re playing. When the Bills aren’t playing Sunday afternoon, I might want to see teams that I have greater interest in, especially as the playoff races heat up. Instead of Miami, KC, or Cincy, we’d be getting Carolina and New Orleans. Next year when we play that division I may not need NFL Sunday Ticket

Ditto. I’ll be surprised if they win more than 8 or 9 games. The teams they were expected to beat a couple of years ago have gotten more competitive and the Bills appear to be at sone level of re-tooling. We play the AFC South, possibly the weakest division a couple of years ago, but now all 4 teams are respectable. The Bills could be .500 in the division. Tough schedule and mediocrity on the roster. If not for a superstar QB,it would look like a 5-win team.

Isn't ironic that the Bills' seem to suffer more injuries than ever over the past few years. This with all the advanced sports science people who are extremely involved in every player's physical condition, guiding rest days, strength & conditioning, keeping metrics and analyzing to obtain optimum health and performance, etc. Or, is the staff just overly cautious with returning players to action? I just think it's so strange that after a couple of seasons in which there were relatively few injuries, they've been hit hard the last couple of years. We're only 2 preseason games into the season and the infirmary is full.

New Renderings of New Stadium Clubs
SoMAn replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looks like they don't expect too many people over the age of 40 or minorities. Mostly what appear to be millennials and Gen Z attendees portrayed in the renderings. Just an observation. -
Probably not this year. Another good draft, dump a few more salaries like Miller, Milano, Diggs and they will be more competitive with some key signings.
-
History repeating? We had a decent starting back called Ronnie Harmon in the late 80s, but he too had some dropping issues and eventually lost his job with the emergence of Thurman Thomas, a more dynamic back that could run, catch, and block.

I got it last year. First year after about 25 that I did not have the NFL season ticket since it was no longer on DIRECTV Tv.. The bills were available on local Atlanta TV for about 10 games.. For those not on TV, I went to local Anchor Bar for one, streamed through Facebook pirate stream (unreliable) for a couple games, and watched on delay from NFL+ Premium site. (Bills) Games were shown in their entirety with NFL app (but with less commercials) immediately with the following their conclusion. So, there were a couple of 1pm Bills’ games I had to stay off the grid until 4pm to watch without having the outcome spoiled. I also enjoy the replay features. Every NFL game from 2009-present is available to stream. With the app you can view any game live on your mobile device or laptop that’s being shown in your local broadcast area. It was convenient to pull it up on my laptop and phone a few times. The app allows you to identify your favorite team and collectively provides all the promotional videos and press conferences that the team’s media department releases. I’ve enjoyed going back through the past season and replaying some of the better games when I have nothing better to do, it’s mid-May, and football fever starts up. For me, it’s been a good value.

Yes.

Good point. My opinion was based primarily on Josh’s sub-par performance in last year’s opener.
-
I hate that worry-wart mentality. It’s like these over-protective parents we have now who are afraid to let their kids walk to the school bus stop or climb a tree. Josh might get hurt. Or…maybe he’ll be ready for the opener this time. It’s football, not duck duck goose.
-
Why? Do you believe that Josh doesn't need to sharpen his skills and the work on timing and communication with his center and receivers? Or, are you just concerned about risking injury?
-
Josh saw limited action during preseason in 2023. He didn't look sharp against the Jets in the season opener, throwing multiple interceptions. The Bills lost a critical division game to start 2023. I'd like to see Josh get at least 5 or 6 full quarters to knock off the rust and get familiar with his new batch of receivers and linemen.
