  1. Perfect for the generation of emotionally stifled male adults who still live in their parents basement and play video games until 3am. Yes, I’m that grumpy old boomer who came from a time when we gave up watching cartoons at about the same age that we figured out Santa wasn’t real.
  2. For a long time I've theorized this phenomenon may be a contributing factor for things like the infamous 'Sports Illustrated Cover Curse'. There are always going to be ebbs and flows. Naturally, when an athlete or team has a remarkably outstanding performance, they get cover stories, but they're also statistically bound for a lull. There are valleys between mountains. Sports books make a living off of gamblers playing 'follow the leader' with an unexpected fail by a highly touted competitor. I like the Bills chances this weekend.
  3. This was exactly the reason I didn't sign up for the NFL Sunday Ticket for the first time in 25 years. There will only be a small handful of games not shown locally (in Atlanta), and for the few that aren't shown, there's streaming, Bills Backers bar, or watching once the live game commences, immediately after it's rebroadcast with NFL+ subscription. Last week did I some other things at 1pm, avoided hearing the scores, and started watching the Bills/Commodes game at 4:10 with NFL+ app. First time doing that. Was pleased that it zipped right along skipping prolonged commercial breaks. The only real down side was missing the ongoing action at 1pm and then relaxing with another game at 4:30. But, I don't normally dedicate an entire day to watching anyway.
  4. I don't disagree that there's an element of excitement for violence. Watching auto racing we love big pile up or a good fight in a hockey game. But, unless you're a sociopath, you hope the participants don't suffer a debilitating injury. With the level of protection Nascar drivers have, there's probably less chance of injury in a major crash than a WR who gets blindsided by a human projectile.
  5. I'm guessing from your handle and your post your in the same vintage boomer age group as me. We can't start watching a movie after 8:30pm without falling asleep on the sofa halfway through it. Afternoon naps are a fairly regular part of the day, especially when Bills play at night.
  6. If rules that eliminates some of these violent shots saves one player from life in a wheelchair or on a ventilator, the league has made the right decision. It hasn't made the game any less entertaining, just safer for these young guys who are already exposing themselves to potential injury every down.
  7. I've wondered how in the world he was drafted at 19 years old. I looked him up on Wikipedia. He must have started at VT at barely 17 years old. Must have been a smart HS student, graduating just after turning 17. Did he skip a grade somewhere during his school years? The other surprising tidbit I read on that site, his given full name is Fe'Zahn Tremaine Edmund. Obviously, the Bills were sold on his smarts, physique, and junior year. Not a bad gamble at the time.
  8. It's constant excuses and denial. Some just can't bring themselves to admit they're wrong. I don't think Edmunds is a fit for NFL-level defenses. He has the right physique and athleticism for Tight End. Should have attempted a conversion. BUT...he got a payday as a LB. Hard to argue with that.
  9. No doubt they use actuarial data to forecast revenue from single event sign-ups who never cancel. I'm sure they know approximately how many will just continue indefinitely and what the numbers are for those that pay for an extra month or two before they remember to cancel. What happens is this: the subscriber goes past their one month, and instead of cancelling as soon as they realize they're in indefinite debit mode, they think 'well, I've paid for this month, I may as well get my money's worth and just keep it for this period'. The month flies by and of course they forget again. And so it goes. On top of that, most of the services don't exactly make it easy to cancel without navigating around their sites to find the 'opt out' source. I've now got Alexa giving me reminders for scheduled subscription cancels.
  10. As far as I know, most of the streaming services don’t require commitments beyond a single month. So, $4.99 is still a good deal. Less than the tip for your sports bar server. Or… we have a friend with monthly Peacock. When she was visiting here a few months back, she signed in on our TV to watch Peacock. We still have access to it. Doesn’t seem they have the same primary residence restrictions that Netflix has in place.
  11. Well, $4.99 is a bargain compared to what you could spend for 4 hours at the sports bar.
  12. My hope is that some of the missing elements in the offense you’ve cited are due to not needing them, at least in the last 2 lopsided wins. Could be they’re reserving some of their playbook for bigger threats like the one coming up next weekend. Maybe we’ll see a few wrinkles that haven’t yet made their was to the field.
  13. And assuming they remain healthy, the D will be even better if Miller gets back to form. I think Bernard pairing with Milano will have a similar effect as the chemistry that made our safety tandem one of the best.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills were saving Elam for this game. Not that he's better than those who've been there, but he'd be well rested and might be uber motivated to play his man exactly as he's been coached. I think it's highly likely he gets a jersey this week.
  15. This is basically an 'I told you so' thread to all the Edmunds apologists for the past 5 years of excusing his underachieving play. I don't think anyone has a personal axe to grind with Tremaine. A good teammate and great guy by all accounts. I don't believe the criticism has been directed specifically at him, but rather at those who continued to believe the hype from One Bills Drive and the media, that the former first round draft choice was a force on the defense. He wasn't! The stellar play by his young replacement should help convince them. Milano and Bernard may turn out to be a great LB duo. Regardless of the never ending 'athleticism and wingspan' hype, Edmunds was a liability more often than not. Defenders knew they could run right over him and get him out of position on passing plays. For all his natural ability, he lacks the tenacity and instincts to be a top tier defender in the NFL. Thank goodness the Bills were wise enough to spend their money on Oliver and Milano, rather than wasting it on Edmunds. Best wishes to Tremaine. Good for him that the inept Bears management bought into the media B.S. It's a shame they're not in our division. They'll be digging out of that cap hole for several years.
  16. I didn’t get that impression at all from her. My take on it was that the Bills media crew were looking to get a player at the mic, post-practice. It’s not as if they were targeting Alec Anderson or Reid Ferguson to pepper with questions for their columns. It sounded like they wanted Diggs, and Maddy was emphasizing the point to someone that the moody player may or may not be cooperative today. It was that simple. Anyone who’s ever had to perform at an elite level should understand that your head is in a different space before, during, and directly after the event. Everything else is just noise. Diggs is ultra focused. He might be the sweetest guy away from the field after he’s had time to decompress, but with the jersey still wet from sweat he’s still going to be lingering mentally in that space.
  17. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the allegation was pulled out of thin air. How can anyone think a guy who's had a long term marriage to a woman of East Asian descent and whose children are half Asian is a racist? He's in a business that greatly relies on the cooperative effort of people of different backgrounds working together to be successful. Is there any prior documentation or allegations even remotely alluding to Pegula as a racist? Sadly, the word 'racist' is hurled around casually simply because a person may disagree with someone's political stance or other view. According to some points of view, every one of you white males reading this is inherently racist. I hope you're ashamed.
  18. I haven't gone through the entire thread, so forgive me if these concerns have already been addressed. In the suit, Trotter makes a claim of Pegula's racial statement, but doesn't give details of when or to whom it was said. I'm pretty sure Pegula would never have said that to Trotter, if at all. So, assuming it wasn't directed at Trotter, where does Trotter get this tidbit? Are we now making allegations in lawsuits based on second or third hand accounts? In criminal court this is defined as hearsay and is inadmissible. Again, I don't know all the details, but I have a hard time understanding how anyone can claim the NFL and their network partners are racist when there's a hugely disproportional percentage (as compared to the US population) of minority hiring in the NFL as a whole. I don't know what the numbers are for management and coaching. The representation of the behind the scenes people aren't as readily apparent to the casual viewer. Every network commentator panel has more than fair representation of black commentators. Nearly every ad during the NBC broadcast Monday night featured minority actors and spokespeople. Was he caught up in a numbers/budget scenario? Was he not completing assignments as required? Is it a case of a discontent (Trotter) making a money grab and hoping for a settlement to make him go away? Or is there actual merit? I don't claim to know, but someone will have to explain to me where all this discrimination is occurring with the NFL and their partners. In my view, the NFL has been the model of equity and opportunity for minorities. My impression is that Trotter is an A$$$hole and it's entire possible the Pegula statement is a fabrication of him and/or his legal representation. If this is found to be without proof or merit, if I'm Pegula, I'm suing Trotter for defamation.
  19. Leading up to the season I went back and watched some of last year’s games. One of my thoughts with each watch was, “they’re going to miss Singletary”. There seems to be a common belief that our RB room has been improved this year. I’m not so sure. Cook arguably has better quickness and vision that Singletary, but he’s got no arse. He’s what they used to call a scat back. With today’s faster and stronger defenders, a back has to have some push, otherwise he’s absolutely useless between the tackles-as seen last night with Cook. In his defense, the o-line wasn’t doing much to provide him with holes to run through. Watching the line collapse, I’m starting to wonder if Morse, who should be that anchor in the middle, is starting to become a liability.
  20. Most likely there’d been a lot of chirping from Wilson and that was Milano’s FY to him.
  21. I was right to be skeptical with all Josh’s off-season talk about playing smarter and protecting the ball. Josh gonna be Josh. As great as he can be, I don’t know that he’ll ever overcome his instinct to play schoolyard football when he gets pressured.
  22. Enough with the blame game. Can we just move on and start talking draft 2024?
