  1. Just had to watch a few minutes of it. If you don’t get the dark humor, you can’t appreciate it. the scene I just saw was Billy telling Layla (who he just kidnapped) he’s going to introduce her to his parents, and she better not make a fool of him or he will kill her right there. She barely reacts. She knows he’s all bluster. He then says ‘ If you make me look bad, I will never talk to you again. Ever’ But if she does a good job she can ‘be his best friend’. For me, that’s hilarious.
  2. I imagined that maybe her life was a fairly mundane Buffalo kind of existence and when this obvious loser came along, she figured he was harmless just went along with everything out of curiosity and to be adventurous.
  3. correct. Don't know why I was thinking Robert Forester. And yes, I knew about the singing. That was another bizarre scene. He acted very creepy towards Layla, but she either didn't notice or didn't care. She just went along with everything, even being kidnapped. Nothing bothered her.
  4. The whole movie is based on wide right! Gallo’s character Billy Brown did time in place of someone else as a means to settle a gambling debt. He’d lost a huge bet on Buffalo in the Super Bowl when ‘Scotty Wood’ blew what would’ve been a winning field goal. Billy never had his mother’s love or attention. She’s an obsessed Bills fan who blames him for missing the Bills’ last championship win, thanks to his birth during the game played in ‘66. She blames him being born for missing a historic Bills game! That’s how whacky this story is. Billy seeks revenge on Wood who cost him the chance to finally gain his mother’s affection. Billy’s mother is played by Angelica Huston, and his passive father was played by Ben Gazzara. the movie is bizarre in some scenes, but overall interesting and artsy. Don’t know if it’s more appealing for me because of the Bills story angle.
  5. It’s an indie film, so if big production and special effects are your thing, skip it. A lot of it is portraying Buffalo as very bleak and depressing. It’s kind of accurate for how some parts were, and may still be. Some top notch actors. I loved it. Very quirky. But I like quirky. Not for everyone, but definitely check it out.
  6. Actually, I believe those artists are the problem. Wings don’t need to be re-invented by the Wing Picassos of the world. The real deal is so simple and yet they find ways to screw it up. Use fresh good quality poultry. Deep fry in clean oil. Properly drain excess oil for a minute to get crisp Franks and butter Sauce liberally. They don’t need a bath. Don’t close the wings up in an unvented container so they get soggy. or if you want to be Michelangelo, dump the oil dripping wings into a half gallon of Tabasco sauce mixed with Blue Bonnet margarine and red pepper flakes for heat. While still steaming, seal in a Tupperware container until ready to eat , then serve the rubbery mess with ranch dressing. You could be a regular Jackson Polack!
  7. Zaxbys has blue cheese. When I’d get Zaxby’s, I’d get them ‘naked’ and put my own authentic Frank’s sauce on them. Buffalo’s Cafe has real Buffalo wing sauce and great blue cheese, but wings are small and overpriced. They used to be good 35 years ago.
  8. Must be the Town Center Mall Anchor Bar near Kennesaw State U. I’ve tried their wings twice, but there’s something not right about them. Probably previously frozen wings and their own bottled Anchor Bar sauce (not good). Never made it to Duff’s in (Noonan?). I have a hard time getting decent wings down here. They’re just bad quality poultry and half the time the fry chef must be foreigners since they don’t seem to know what ‘crispy’ means. Their solution is to overcook them so there’s no flavor left or else they’re rubbery. Had wings at a place in Canton the other day with ‘award winning wings’. Lousy sauce made worse with crushed red pepper flakes.
  9. There was a similar discussion in the same point made during WGR55’s Jeremy White morning show a couple days ago. I never called in to make this point, and don’t know if somebody else did since I didn’t listen to the entire show… But, cherry-picking the first years of a coaching tenure is arbitrary. How about pointing out that all time great coach, Don Shula coached 27 more seasons after his final Super Bowl win and 16 years after his final appearance in a Super Bowl? How many years has it been since Mike Tomlin appeared in the Super Bowl? How many years has it been since Sean Payton coached his team in a Super Bowl? How about Bill Parcells? for these and many more Super Bowl coaches, there were a lot of years that they never made it to the big game, but they were still the same coach (though even more experienced) who got there within the first few years. several of those examples occurred when they were less teams to compete with. for years, there were only 28 teams. So much of getting to the Super Bowl and winning it in the NFL is a serendipitous combination of several things coming together at the same time, including hitting on key players in the draft, good health, and some good luck along the way. There have been a few dynasties that we all remember, but more often than not Super Bowl champions don’t reach that summit with great frequency after the first appearance.
  10. I think I can explain. Most of the complainants are the post-millennials who aren’t content with anything less than instant gratification. Statistically, the Bills were a top offense, in spite of having a mediocre O-line, a very average TE room, and a single WR that posed much of a threat. side note: I think they may regret letting Singletary get away.
  11. No. Not by the Bills. He’s only under-appreciated by ignorant fans. Gabe will be fine if he’s healthy. Mark my words.
  12. After a 17 year playoff drought McDermott has led the Bills to 5 berths in 6 years, including one with journeyman QB Tyrod Taylor. If the Pegulas fired McDermott and hired one of your unproven prospects, it would be a huge gamble. There are numerous coordinators and college coaches who were touted as the next great thing, only to be on the street in 3 years. If that scenario played out in Buffalo, the mafia would be after Pegula with torches and pitchforks. I think the expectation that the Bills should have won a Super Bowl is unrealistic. Could they? Yes. But they probably haven’t been good enough yet. The Bills came closest to getting to the Super Bowl when they lost the 13-second game. In hindsight it might turn out to have been a blessing in disguise that they lost. Had they gone on to play Tampa Bay and been slaughtered (as the Chiefs were), that 5th Bills’ Super Bowl loss could have been an emotional burden the current squad might never been able to recover from, even though most of the team wasn’t even born yet during the 0-4 run. A change at the head coach position could be a disaster. Be careful what you wish for.
  13. As always, the wild card is how healthy a team can remain through a ridiculously long season. On paper, the team should be better. Another year of experience for Josh and Dorsey. Another year for last year’s promising rookies. I believe the LB play will be improved. Sorry, but Edmunds was not I instinctive and was easily pushed around. He made some progress over 2021, but more often than not he was Mr. Johnny Come Lately or second man in stopping ball carriers. For all the praise he received in passing situations, I saw him as a liability. But, as the Bills have improved, so has the other teams in the division. I believe New England is being unfairly overlooked. I don’t see them winning the division, but they will be spoilers. Jones led them to the playoffs as a rookie, and they still have a HOF head coach. Hopefully, the Bills will win most of their division games and let the other three beat up on each other. If they stay healthy and focused, they have what it takes to win it all.
  14. Speculation and rumor is all I’ve seen. If you have a link, help us out. Until there’s official word from the Bills or Diggs himself we don’t really know the what the issue was, so for you to state definitively that he ‘wanted more focus on himself’ is irresponsible.
  15. I wasn’t aware that you had inside knowledge regarding the exact cause of the latest disruption. Forgive me. 🙄 The 1989 bickering WAS NOT about players not playing their best, it was about Kelly calling them out (specifically House Ballard) publicly. That in turn led to Thurman and others putting Kelly in his place.
  16. The bickering Bills saga was based on a self-centered pro athlete, only in that episode it was Jim Kelly who was doing the finger-pointing and being a prima Donna. To his credit, Thurman, a young player only in his second year, put Jimbo in his place. But, as far as the most recent incident goes, none of us really know who was involved or what it’s about. It sounds like there was a family squabble and it’s already over or at least in the healing process. Can we put this behind us and move on with some actual talk about mini-camp and the upcoming season?
  17. I haven't read the entire thread, but it's clear there's ample whining and finger-pointing. WTF? They had a top offense and were 14-3 before stumbling against Cinci. They lost those 3 by a total of 8 points!!! How quickly so many have forgotten the drought through 17 years of (mostly) mediocrity. As far as Dorsey goes, it's hard to tell how much of his play-calling was negated by breakdowns in protection/blocking, or Josh just playing too much hero ball and looking downfield when he had open targets for shorter passes. If you read between the lines during both Allen's and McDermott's pressers from a couple of weeks ago, it should be obvious there will be more thrust on keeping Josh more focused on taking what's given to him and chewing up yardage when necessary rather than looking for the homerun ball every time. Seems to me there was a fair amount of 'fire Dabol' chatter every time they fell short of perfection during his time in that position. I'm sure Dorsey wasn't perfect, but in my opinion, he did a decent job as a rookie OC and should only get better going forward.
  18. He had a few drops. Every receiver does. I think we need to remember that a fair number of his 'drops" were sideline routes in which he had no room to maneuver, and a few of those were passes that Josh threw just short enough that they unnecessarily became contested. I'm not concerned about Gabe's performance. I think he'll be fine.
  19. If those details are more important to the viewer, their best value is watching on TV. Trying to replicate ‘the live experience’ is the goal of all that virtual crap with Wi games and goggles, etc. For all those digital efforts, there’s still nothing that compares to the real thing. Is a music concert shown on the best TV screen with a superior sound system anywhere near the experience of being in an arena or auditorium with a top act? Negative. Today, you can have the best of both worlds by being in the stands and having your mobile device in your hand for replays if it’s that important. I’d rather be taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells of real life. Given a choice I’ll delay any dependence on a video screen when I’m tethered to an oxygen tank, an afghan blanket on my lap, as I fart Ensure into the cushion of my Lazy-Boy recliner.
  20. I put no import on draft position or their accomplishments at age 20 after they’ve become vetrans. Should we minimize Milano’s status, being a mid-late draft pick?
  21. I meant I disagree with your assessment that you miss details. For me, details are missed when I can’t see the entire field (as I can in-person) and the TV field of vision often doesn’t allow us to see pass patterns develop or where the receivers are. Only on replays with different angle do we get that perspective. I want to see every player on the field to see where the play is going. TV focuses only on the ball when it’s live.
  22. I couldn't disagree more regarding the viewing at live events. At the stadium I can see the whole field and watch the play develop, especially with the WRs. My only complaint is the rudeness everyone will inevitably experience in a large crowd setting where there'll always be a percentage of people who have no regard for anyone but themselves. Talking about the ones who have seats in front of your 5 ft tall wife and are unable to sit throughout the entire game. The ones who can't have a nice day out without getting sloppy drunk, spilling their beer on you and shouting swear words within earshot of your minor children. But the actual live, 3D, high def viewing experience, for me, is superior to any TV. I don't really care what the TV commentators have to say.
  23. Thurman and Pattie are in the same situation as me and my wife and half the empty nest couples in our neighborhood- time to downsize, but we’ve accumulated so much stuff over the years, now we have to decide what we really need. Decisions decisions. Sadly the younger generations don’t have any desire for our fine wood furniture, China, collectibles, etc. The thrift stores and Goodwill have reached capacity. Some once-cherished items are going to end up in a landfill. Next stop, assisted living!
  24. OH!! That’s not at all the way it was presented. I’m really tired of all marketing efforts designed to deceive. The offer was $9.99/season, with the statement that it would automatically renew in 1 year. Sure made it sound like a full year subscription. So, now, instead of just getting the whole thing for a year, I’ll have to pay the $80 on top of the $10 I’ve already spent. Thanks for the clarification. If I didn’t love our Bills so much, I give a big middle finger to the NFL.
  25. Thanks. You answer my next question, which about commercials. Is it possible to fast-forward through the breaks? Guessing the answer in ‘no’. I went ahead and subscribed to NFL+ Premium for the ridiculously low price of $9.99 for an entire year. If YouTube had offered promo price of around $199 I’d have gone for it. The thing that’s changed dramatically since the onset of NFL Sunday Ticket 1995 (?) or so, is that with at least 3 primetime night games, thanksgiving, Black Friday, and games split between Saturday and Sunday later in the season, morning international games, and usually 3 games in afternoon in most markets, there aren’t nearly as many games that can’t be seen without the Sunday Ticket. Not to mention Redzone, which works fine for gamblers and others. The cost of NFLST should have been reduced with so much less product available.
