  1. I think this switched to Tahir Whitehead. Here is a great scouting report on him as a free agent, not rookie. I liked him originally but now I don't see him as an upgrade to Humber. http://www.detroitlionspodcast.com/bryce-rossler/2018/01/24/free-agent-linebacker-tahir-whitehead/
  2. It may be likely but why is it a given that this move is to get in better position to trade up again for a top QB? 12 is exactly where Georgia Middle Linebacker Roquan Smith is supposed to go and the Bengals were a common spot he was mocked to. We have a defensive coach and MLB is the biggest need behind QB. Smith is also a leader and fits the McDermott player profile. I know we all want a QB but just saying
  3. You probably don't want to admit it but Whitner's college career and capabilities at the time justified the pick. The math they didn't do was how would his attitude be playing in a dysfunctional organization
  4. Good point here, not to mention what if Dawkins gets hurt? Can people envision what would happen there? We have the cap room, have a good player under contract, why move him? For a 4th or 5th? Cap space? Cap space doesn't perform on the field.
  5. The top two here are givens. Edmunds is only 19 so I am not sure about him even though they said he came off mature in interviews. Unfortunately Roquan won't be around but I would not rule out a trade up for him if he lasts until 15 which he shouldn't. A couple others I think you could add. Marcus Davenport DE UTSA Size and pass rush skills for the DE spot, chip on the shoulder Leighton Vander Esch DE Boise State - not my favorite and only a one year starter however he has size, attitude and coverage abilities we are lacking plus character Baker Mayfield if they get past his immature mistakes, he has been described as a worker and a grinder which fits the model.
  6. I believe that was Buddy Nix's desperation parting move trying to leave the organization on the rise. I don't think you can pin that on Doug especially when he has been heard saying that his biggest mistake was not going out and getting a franchise QB.
  7. If yo don't think Kraft will swing by his place with a brief case of cash to keep him in the fold (off the cap, just like Brady) you are crazy. He will be on the field at least one more year
  8. I don't think Belichek knew that the Seahawks pass play was going to be called. Wilson wasn't even supposed to force it in. He was supposed to throw it away if it was not wide open. What Belichek and the Patriots players knew is that a pass interference call meant nothing so his guys were coached to be overly physical and it resulted in a turnover because Wilson forced it in. Let's not get carried away saying he knows what play the other team is going to run.
  9. I think it was drafting for scheme, not need, wasn't it?
  10. looks like the contract was done in late August so probably nothing there. If it were week 7 we might have an issue.
  11. Isn't that what we are talking about? The team not scratching their head wondering why the player wants a new contract 6 weeks into the season? I think it will evolve that Wood and his agent may have fleeced Beane and Co. If they indeed did not do a proper physical that stinks
  12. Maybe Wood knew. He just said he has stingers mid season and then he gets re upped. Seems pretty timely. Also look at the structure of the contract. 4.8 per year with a 4.33 mil bonus. Are we sure Wood and his agent didn't know something? Beane may have been taken to the cleaners.
  13. We used to be. Now we are looked at as table breaking idiots who have never won before and don't know how
  14. My vote is for Chris Brown. I want somebody who will put in the work. I didn't like Jones. He came off as a paycheck player with zero toughness - Murph used to mock him for it all the time. It was a terrible an uninspiring message.
  15. I thought there was information out there that McD's wife and Tolbert's are best friends and their families are very close. How is that lost by those who call it a head scratcher.
  16. I value draft picks as much as everyone else however the talent on our team is in our coach, not our rookie GM who has yet to prove anything. McD won in spite of Beane's roster moves IMO. I don't think you scale back McD's roster to get one extra pick for an unproven GM.
  17. Why open the hole and use a draft pick to fill it the exact same way?
  18. If you wait until June 1st you have to pay him the 6 mil bonus second day of the league year Because he is a terrible guard and good center. Did you see any of the preseason the last two years with him at guard?
  19. Beane said I have seen "all the ones that matter" then said all the first rounders. I thought that was the most defining comment and should tell you exactly what we are going to do in Round 1 of the draft.
  20. Everyone is ready to move on from their QB if you have something better. But we don't
  21. Yes passing yards and rushing yards are not mutually exclusive. Same with passing TDs and Rushing TDs.
  22. Before the game is the best way to get the full media coverage as well so the Pats can get credit for doing the right thing - which is garbage. White should tell him he can talk to him after the game, not before for media purposes.
  23. This regime is supposed to be process oriented. Changing variables (WRs) in your process disrupts the expected results. If they didn't know the instability on offense they would create then the should stop using the word process.
  24. This is the same as giving credit for McD having the guts to start Peterman but not making him responsible for the result. Only delusional Bills fans can take self inflicted problems and give credit for overcoming them. All they needed to do was play defense with the current roster and this team was capable of winning 10 games. Expectations deteriorated because of the moves they made. How do you give credit for that?
  25. Seriously what about controlling the clock? Belicheat's game plan doing the same to the '90 Bills is in the hall of fame. Why not snap the ball at the last possible second according to the play clock to give them less time to operate? If we try to trade rhythm up tempo possessions with them we are going to get murdered, we always do. Fewer possessions gives them less times to figure out our D and less time to score. Keeping the score low worked for the 90's Giants so why would we not take that chance?
