Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

I see you’ve taken up the @ScottLaw Jets love role this year… -
My opinions change all the time based upon updated perspective and simple learning. Those who think they know everything never do.

I was not a fan of trading for him, but now that he is a FA it changes the story. It’s all about what $$$ he wants. If he wants top-15 WR money or a long term deal it won’t happen. If he will accept a deal like OBJ just signed it could work. -
Absolutely. Many fans have divorced the Washington Football Team out of disgust for Snyder…it will be interesting to see how the fan base responds to new ownership. I’m sure some Cleveland fans have divorced the Browns over the Watson signing — and their owner is a crook also. It’s harder when you still live in the community, though…

Ross Tucker ranks NFL Coach’s, places McDermott at #22.

I really wish DC Tom were here…he’d call you what you are. You have to make the decision to go for it. -

This is a false narrative about McDermott that continues to persist. He has one of the best records of making the appropriate calls on 4th down based upon analytics — which is anything but a “conservative, defensive-minded” coach. -

Ross is looking for clicks. He got ‘em. Ranking McDermott outside of the top 10 is laughable. Argue all you want about him being “outcoached” in the playoffs. -
Talk about using a completely out-of-context stat to try and make a point. 🙄 In order to evaluate this statistic we need so much more information. Suffice it to say that every QB's job is to limit turnovers, and Josh is no different.

You're only "real" around here if you predict the worst, complain about everything, and deny you said it when the opposite happens. I can't wait until the Bills finally win the big one. A week later we'll have posts about how it wasn't good enough. Yes, I'm kidding around...sort of.

I think he was there for the first week last year but not afterwards.

Wow. That’s a high level of concern, but it sounds to me like you were down on Tre even before the injury.
-
I’m gonna need further explanation on this one…
-
Am I the only guy not worried about Tre? ACLs are not a novel injury and he’s now a year and a half out from surgery. My “concern” level is at about 1.2 on a scale of 1-10.

That’s how they negotiated to 53; a number that allows enough backups for depth without draining the talent pool. The issue was addressed in large part by the expanded practice squad. Teams can now “try” to hide players but don’t have exclusive rights. Sort of a win-win in that players have mobility but teams can also develop guys and build some team loyalty.

NFL owners OK flexing of Thursday night games
eball replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL owners are beholden to one thing only…the almighty dollar. Broadcast partners pay a lot of $$$$. -
Competitive balance. Teams used to “hide” players on the roster who might not be ready to play yet but would be scooped up by another team if given the chance. Same reason there are IR rules.

Have you been talking to my shrink?

I don’t think it’s “scummy” to provide a well-rounded view of someone. There are many, many people in history considered to be “great” who also struggled with their own demons. It’s human nature. We should all understand that humans are complex, multi-faceted beings. It’s ok to recognize all of Jim Brown’s legendary greatness while also acknowledging his struggles. Back on point — my dad always said Brown was the best player he’d ever seen. I greatly respect that he used his fame in an effort to better the lives of others.

Every time someone asks a question like this, there are only two shows that immediately and always jump to the front: Seinfeld and Cheers I could stop what I’m doing and watch any episode of either show. After those two there are a TON of excellent comedies that have come and gone through the years.

Hogwash. McKenzie, while a great character, is also an idiot.

@Rocky Landing I believe you’re overthinking it. 😉

It is an interesting deep-dive into the schedule but in my mind, the only rest discrepancies that "matter" are those of 2 or more days. I mean, MNF has been around forever and even in the playoffs there is often a 1 day difference in rest. In that respect the Jets have a net +3 advantage in "2+" rest games (3 for, 0 against), which is tied for most along with Chicago. Two teams are -3 -- Atlanta and KC. Everyone else is between +2 and -2, and the Bills are a net 0. I don't think it's as big of a deal as Sharp makes it, or some evidence of an NFL conspiracy. If anyone got screwed it is the teams who play two or more games against teams with a week or more of rest, because no team plays more than one of those games on the plus side. The losers there are SF (3), LAR (3), NYG (2), and DET (2).
