New stadium official groundbreaking - Monday morning (6/5/2023)
eball replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
All in all a very well done “show.” Some definitely heartfelt words from Terry and I’m so glad to be a fan of this organization. -
Makes sense.

Really? You're asking that question? Ok, I'll pretend you're not a simpleton and answer. The goal is to build an organization that consistently wins games, makes the playoffs, and is regularly in the conversation of competing for a championship. Beane and McDermott have passed that test with flying colors. One out of 32 teams wins a Super Bowl each year.

LOLOLOLOL How people write crap like this is beyond me…

It feels more and more as though Basham and Epenesa will be camp casualties. It’s disappointing and no feather in Beane’s cap to whiff on two 2nd rounders, but at least he’s not doubling down on the mistake by standing pat. Hard to criticize this signing.

You can bet on it. The NHL loves Buffalo and showcasing a new stadium in that manner will be great for the crowd and TV as well. -
D-line coach Eric Washington’s comments on Ed Oliver — hoo boy

There’s no question this is Oliver’s year to prove he deserves a big 2nd contract. We’ll see what he does with it. -
Chuck Pollock retiring from Olean Times Herald after 50 years

Congrats on a long run, although I can't say I thought his stuff was particularly enlightening. -
I see numerous indicators...improved OL, Dorsey's 2nd year of play calling, and Cook having a full year of NFL experience/weight training under his belt. We may have found our modern day dual-threat RB. And if for some reason he doesn't take that jump, Beane stocked the cupboard with a couple of nice vet pieces.

@boater this is great, but don’t the Bills already do this on their site? I’ve been using it for years. They have a calendar you can subscribe to. Edit: yep, just checked my calendar and all of this year’s games are already on it.

When McD got the HC job he knew he had to learn the whole job. He did what any smart coach would do — he brought in a veteran, competent DC so he could focus on all of the other aspects of becoming a HC. That has been a six year process and I think even his detractors would acknowledge growth by McD in those areas. There is no doubt he “backed off” calling the defense in order to be more of an overall manager of the team. And let’s face it — the Bills’ regular season defenses have been excellent under Frazier. The issue has been the playoffs. I believe McD when he says he is “rejuvenated” by the thought of calling the defense. I absolutely expect him to put his stamp on it and do what he believes is necessary to stifle the high-powered offenses of the AFC. It’s a curious thing to me — those who want to always assume the worst. 🤷🏻♂️

Of course you can!

Looks like G2 is on ESPN2 Monday at 4. Waiting for @Einstein to stop by and tell us how he won’t be watching because he doesn’t care.
-
I’m not sure what it says about someone who “doesn’t care” enough to specifically and intentionally enter an OTW thread with a clear topic said person “doesn’t care” about so that said person can take a dump on said topic. Anybody have a good description of such a person?

Eichel pulling a nice disappearing act as the playoffs progress…no goals in 6 games now.

20-0, baby!!!

Nyheim Hines gets it, better than the coaches, better than the GM.
eball replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who said Beane was beyond criticism? The point is that they aren’t trying to tell Josh not to run, and Beane obviously acknowledged they need to put better pieces around him. It’s really not that hard to understand. -

Josh has sustained two “significant” injuries in his tenure as Bills’ QB. Both to his arm, and both in the pocket. Yes, he suffered a mild concussion against the Pats*** in 2019 when running, but in the three years since he has not been injured running the ball. When Josh says he needs to adjust his style of play, he’s talking about not taking unnecessary hits (i.e., not running out of bounds or sliding) and not being careless with the football. That’s exactly what McD is saying as well. It’s not about “not running the football.” Beane knows the OL didn’t do Josh any favors last year, and he went about improving the offense around him. If the OL improves, and if Josh has confidence in the added pieces, he won’t need to run as much as he has in the past, but his running will still be a weapon the Bills should not be afraid to utilize. The OP, in my opinion, completely misses the mark in yet another not-so-subtly veiled attempt at criticizing the organization.
