5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22
DefenseWins replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I've heard about that. Wrestlemania over the weekend took place without fans present. I'm not sure that can work over a 16 game season. But it's beginning to appear like we just might find out. -

I hate to be the "Devil's Advocate" in all this discussion but at this point none of us knows whether there will even be a 2020 NFL season. Poloncarz was asked about that and seemed to say that he wasn't so sure there would even be a season with the Covid-19 situation. There has already been some discussion on what the league "might" do under these conditions as to whether or not a player would even accrue credit for a season if the season had to be cancelled. Right now it is hard to count on much of anything... -
I agree with the general gist of what you say. I gotta disagree though with your comment about Darnold and Mayfield. They have each had their fair share of detractors this past season in particular. I also think you should include the likes of Kyler Murray, Gardner Minshew and Josh Rosen in your comparison. All these QBs are gonna develop at their own pace. Stable coaching which Allen has had so far, gives him a great chance for success. Rosen, Darnold and Mayfield haven't had that. But at this point none of us can know for sure what the careers for all these guys will turn out to be like. Allen has these next two seasons to impress before any decisions will need to be made. Let's hope their IS a season. Everyone stay safe!

RB is a really GLARING need, right?
DefenseWins replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills DO need another RB to back up Singletary. Whether they get him with their 2nd rd pick however is open to debate. As Singletary himself demonstrates a really good RB can be found in the mid rds. (3-4) On the other hand there should be some rather good young OT's available in rd 2. Or perhaps an edge guy. -

On the other hand, maybe Netflix subscriptions boom and everyone just stays home and watches reruns of TWD and FTWD and V Wars... -
I think the entire conversation is totally premature at this point. Allen has played two seasons and has at least 2 more before any kind of decision will be made on his progress and his future. If Allen fails I'd still give this crew another shot at picking a QB though. This is the best front office the Bills have ever had, at least since the Polian Super Bowl era.

LT is a position that you don't want to F--- With. He takes a lot fewer "false start" penalties than Tunsil. Both Players are 6'5" 320ish. If the Dolphins got the kind of haul from Houston they got, what would Dawkins be worth? And whom are you gonna get to replace him? Will the replacement be better? Unless you can identitfy a "better" LT out there who the Bills can sign as a FA I think you have to pay the man the going rate. Most contracts these days have "opt outs" after 2-3 yrs anyway. An added plus in his favor are his receiving skills around the goal line. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DawkDi00.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TunsLa00.htm Pay Da Man! They have the cap space and unless he makes unreasonable demands, which I doubt,

Who here has had to put their dog down
DefenseWins replied to Steptide's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I agree with all the sentiments touched upon in this thread. It is never easy to put down a family pet. You grow attached to them. They become a part of you. I never had kids but if I had I would have wanted them to have a family pet. I have always believed that it helps a child develop a sense of empathy. And I think it helps them learn that sometimes it is OK to cry. -

Whether Shady may or may not be active (I hope he will be...) I'll be rooting for him and the Chiefs in the Superbowl... They are after all "The AFC representative AND NOT the New England Patriots". And as far as Watkins is concerned, I never questioned his "attitude". I had a problem with paying him $16 million a season when he couldn't seem to stay healthy. I think that John Brown had a better season in terms of "productivity" and is significantly less expensive both this past year and the upcoming next two seasons as well! When you factor in the cost of the two contracts (Brown at 9 million/yr avg for both 2020 & 2021 vs Watkins at $16 million/yr which btw expires after 2020) it seems likes a "no brainer" that Brown is the better investment. Also I like Andy Reid. He is an excellent HC (also NOT NAMED Belichick). https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WatkSa00.htm https://overthecap.com/player/sammy-watkins/2943/ https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrowJo02.htm https://overthecap.com/player/john-brown/3030/ and besides Garopolo still has some of that "New England Stench" on him.... Go CHIEFS!

Browns hire Kevin Stefanski as HC; Andrew Berry as GM
DefenseWins replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if Cleveland was insisting on the same kind of "reporting requirements" for McDaniel as they apparently insisted on from Stefanski. If so I wouldn't blame him for not taking the job if it was offered under those terms. -

So, How many other teams in the NFL require this of their HC? Are there any? This seems like a plan almost guaranteed to end in disaster. Poor Brown's fans... They deserve better! -
