  1. Team adviser: Bill Belichick
  2. Getting drubbed by the Patriots and then showing up 3 days later on TV at the World Series doesn't exactly paint a picture of commitment and dedication, does it? His well-oiled team surely didn't need an extra day of preparation -- it was only Seattle on Monday night coming up.
  3. He always throws around comments that are half-veiled excuses. Note his take on draft picks and the lament "I never had those."
  4. It's complete nonsense. Hyperbolic nonsense generated by a segment of the fanbase that is still throwing a tantrum over the Watkins trade. Williams is such a "talent" that 31 other teams are debating if he is worth a slot on their practice squad right now. We're going to pretend that when Shady goes down this guy's 3.5 YPC would save the season? The Detroit 3rd-string defense isn't on the schedule. This thread should be stickied for posterity, it might be the pinnacle of irrational behavior on TSW.
  5. Now you have an idea of what the monetary value of a 2nd round pick is -- it's around $16M. That's what this was about from day 1.
  6. Shhhhhh. It's fun to believe he built a top-5 defense.
  7. Because you are putting way too much stock into preseason depth charts. Shady is the #1 back and the rest is RBBC, and the difference between the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th guy in a RBBC is not that great.
  8. Former Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams passes through waivers unclaimed ✔@mikerodak 31 other teams passed on a player with a minimum-salary contract.

  10. I've been waiting a looooong time for this GM. In the free-agency era we've never had a GM like this, as evidenced by the confusion amongst the fans. I've been banging my fist on the table for more than a decade to see this team attempt to build through the draft and it's almost surreal that it's finally happening. It's a sad day for those that want the instant-gratification approach of the last regime, but eventually you'll realize that those teams were built to go nowhere. Eventually. Maybe. The team is still bound for 7 wins this season, same as they were back in May.
  11. With a looming contract decision, it becomes a prospective cost. There's no reason for the new regime to double down on a stupid decision the last regime made.
  12. There are many that believed Whaley "would get another GM job in a second" if he was fired. I'm not joking.
  13. Let's not act like the players they are getting in return are old. The fans going into hysterics over losing Seymour are way over the top.
  14. That about sums up our "talent."
  15. Nah, standard is the end of the football season in February. I don't feel like looking it up, but I'm pretty sure the Bills coaching and executive contracts end in February too. It doesn't really matter when you have an owner that doesn't care if he has to eat 4 years of a contract.
  16. The Steelers did this with his last contract they gave him in 2015, but we're setting the trend?
  17. Succinct, and a far better evaluation. I guess it would be a pretty boring article if they just came out and said "The following teams have no QB and are therefore not contenders."
  18. The track star WR always sounds great in the offseason, doesn't work so well from the trainer's room though. I'm guessing the team will bring in at least 2 WR's on Saturday without spending a pick.
  19. But this isn't what Doug Whaley would do...
  20. This isn't like shopping at a retail store. You can't return your broken product for a full refund. How hard is this to understand? Or is it just fashionable to be outraged? He's a 2nd round pick that blew out his knee. If that injury had happened in his senior year, he probably would have been a 6th or 7th round pick. In a best-case scenario he was going to play special teams for us this year, if he was even going to dress at all on Sundays.
  21. We haven't traded anyone for "significantly less than their value."
  22. When you make a bad draft pick, you don't get it back. Getting a 4th for a guy that was questionable to dress on Sundays isn't too bad, no? Or are we still pretending that "getting Ragland back is like having another 1st round pick this year!"?
  23. 1) The pick is in 2019 2) He was a 3rd string LB
