  1. Yup. Or after he signs a mega deal and gets hurt.
  2. He looked good for his 1st start, I was impressed. Very composed under pressure from some odd-man rushes. It looks like there is going to be a battle for #2. Of course, preseason QB play is the ultimate Kool-Aid. As a reminder I should dig up the archived thread from 2 years ago when a lot of people thought we had 3 possible starters on the team after the preseason (yes, people though Cassel and EJ were starting caliber).
  3. I wonder what fans expect him to say, "I'm just glad to be a part of an upcoming 8-8 season?" His quotes are standard FA lip service. Spending 14 years in the league doesn't just polish your route-running, it also makes you very savvy in front of the media. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a smart signing by our FO, but he was a FA in August - we weren't his #1 destination all along.
  4. This is my kind of contract - one that has no future cap hit. I don't expect much production from him, but I've always considered him to be one of the toughest players in the league, hopefully that rubs off on some guys.
  5. Pats front office = head of the class, Bills front office = "cue Benny Hill music" You're absolutely correct that it's still on the table, maybe the Benny Hill music finally stops.
  6. History shows that small, shifty running backs do not age gracefully, they tend to hit the wall abruptly. I wouldn't bet on him being here next year without a restructure, 30-yr old RB's that carry a $9M cap hit are not exactly a hot commodity.
  7. This franchise's track record for drafting QB's is really something to behold.
  8. Absolute nonsense. Your crusade against Murray is so over-the-top it's past the point of being comical.
  9. If OBJ made the same comment, I wonder how many posters would be defending him
  10. Just shup up, Sammy.
  11. http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/benoit-pouliot-wears-out-his-welcome-with-edmonton-oilers-headed-for-buy-out
  12. Pommenville and Ennis are basically a wash. We're taking on another $1M in cap hit the next 2 years, but I actually think the guy who will be 35 next year has a better chance at staying healthy than the 27 year old Ennis. So a trade of Foligno for a 2nd pair D that's under a reasonable contract for the next 3 years is a pretty good deal. I guess the one red flag is that Scandella is coming off hip surgery, but it still seems like a safe bet. It's a lot easier to replace a physical grinding winger than it is to acquire a top 4 D.
  13. Yup. The Sabres have a young superstar player to build upon and use as a foundation. The BIlls do not.
  14. He's definitely getting 7 years. I would be disappointed in our new GM if he did this, I don't think the guy is worth it.
  15. I don't know, I think combining a bad contract (Bogo) with a great contract (McCabe) to reach a reasonable average is faulty logic. I think Jeremy White must be running out of column idea in the offseason if he came up with that.
  16. The theory that Bogosian will thrive in a new system is some serious wishful thinking. The guy has played 10 years in the NHL and his ceiling is a 3rd pair D-man. We're just paying him as a 1st pair, that's the big problem.
  17. Hard to get excited about the NHL draft when we're probably not going to see this kid until 2019.
  18. It dropped to -550 for a moment. People are idiots. Mayweather vs. McGregor Betting Line Is Even More Absurd Than the Fight Itself This will be a great spectacle for the people who watch Dancing With the Stars, because that's all you are going to see for 12 rounds.
  19. No lines for food, beer, or bathrooms. Can drink the whole game. Warm and toasty in December. Servers get to know you by name and bring drinks to your seat at set intervals. The downside is the crowd around you isn't that much fun, and a lot of seats get sold to division rivals at a premium. Loads of Jets fans always around me, ugh.
  20. Hard to say with all the backroom deals going on, but it looks like Carrier is gone? Maybe it's part of a deal to unload Bogo to them as well.
  21. I don't think many are saying this (aside from the typical hope that a new GM/Coach brings). The front office made the same offseason missteps in asset management that it has been making for the past decade. Hopefully Beane can turn it around. Myth: A stud RB can lead you to the playoffs. No, a stud RB can lead your fantasy team to the playoffs. In today's NFL it's almost always preferable to use the running back by committee approach, it provides redundancy in case of injury.
  22. This argument comes up in every single new stadium thread. It comes down to this: Are you the type of person that A) Enjoys driving a brand new car and typically trades-up before things start falling apart on your current car or B) Will drive a car into the ground running up 300K+ miles on it over decades and keeps the rust held together with duct tape almost as a sense of pride? Have you figured out which personality you associate with? Don't bother, because it doesn't matter. Today's NFL is a country club and they don't want your rust bucket in their parking lot. Sorry, but ticket prices are going up and the title of "Drunkest Fans in the NFL" is going away. A new stadium in the old First Ward may be the worst kept secret in town. Real estate speculation in the area is escalating, the owners just purchased a building that could conveniently be used as an Ops center, and hey -- there's already established parking for ~20K people.
  23. Cal Petersen announces he’s turning pro Cal Petersen has announced he's leaving Notre Dame. I would expect him to sign with Sabres based on my chat with Eichel today. https://twitter.com/BuffNewsVogl/status/870019670769680384
