  1. And if he doesn't reach the level he is capable of, we take a loss. If he gets hurt, we get nothing. What makes you think he's going to have a massive season? We're a run-first team with TT at QB. What's so different this year, Dennison? What kind of numbers would he have to put up to garner a bigger haul with a $17M tag on him?? Any trade in that scenario would be contingent on him signing a long-term deal, and that isn't exactly sweetening the pot.
  2. Couldn't have said it better myself. I agree, the compensation for Watkins was a bit more than I thought we could get. We are setting the table for a franchise-changing draft next year. The one caveat is that I think Wade Phillips is the perfect fit for the Rams D, and they wind up winning 8.
  3. We're a run-first team with Tyrod at QB. He was going to play ~13 games and put up ~900yds which is the same thing he did for the last 3 years. But wishful thinkers will tell you this would have been his breakout year of 1500yds and a franchise tag, hence all the whining.
  4. If they put T.J. Yates under center week 1 then you know it's a tank. But they won't, because it isn't.
  5. I assure you, I've seen the numbers before, for what would seem like a thousand times. Are you aware of the 8-game streak in 2015? I was referring more to the injury situation, as I believe someone sarcastically said if Eichel gets hurt again he should be traded.
  6. First comparing Sammy to Julio, now comparing him to Eichel. This thread has gone full retard.
  7. Building through the draft.
  8. We were a 7-win team yesterday. We are a 7-win team right now. The hysterics are entertaining though.
  9. Here's the likely difference in wins this season between Sammy/Darby and Matthews/Gaines. Zero. Frankly, I'm quite surprised at what we got back for him.
  10. You know TSW is in full meltdown mode when they start using Mike Rodak and WalterFootball for justification
  11. Start packing your bags Andre, Vlad, and Ryan. If Justin Hunter winds up qualifying this season (it's possible), we may even get an extra 4th! If Beane pulls this off, I may have to consider adjusting my "dead buffalo" avatar into something more positive. This is an exciting day.
  12. Love the moves. We may finally have a competent FO, and outside of finding a franchise QB, that's the next best thing IMO.
  13. Robert Woods signed with the Rams to be their #1 WR.
  14. Probably zero. Maybe one.
  15. This is called asset management, it's one of the hallmarks of a competent front office. After watching our last half-dozen GMs, it's certainly a foreign concept to our fan base.
  16. I can't believe that forum name went unregistered until 2016.
  17. Yeah, the passing game was really firing on all cylinders the past 2 seasons.
  18. A tank is a deliberate attempt to lose. They are not deliberately trying to lose. Clearly a lot of people are emotional right now and do not understand this.
  19. Not happy he's gone but excited that we got good value for him instead of watching him leave for nothing. This must be a very confusing day for the crowd that believed Whaley was a genius.
  20. After today I am starting to.
  21. Here's some hard truths, you may need to put on the big boy pants for this - Again, it's not a tank. They are not deliberately trying to lose. Sammy was on the way out the day the option was declined. If you were one of the posters claiming this was a "prove it" year for him, you were only kidding yourself. The love-affair with Sammy around here is wayyy over the top, and mostly a product of the ridiculous amount of capital we invested in him via draft picks. Maybe one day he'll reach his potential, but so far he hasn't come close. You don't hand out big contracts based on potential. And no, he wasn't going to put up a monster year with our QB situation. He was likely going to play ~13 games and put up an ~800 yard season and then unceremoniously leave. Getting a 2nd round pick for him with 1-yr left on his deal is about right. Also, no, TT and Shady aren't getting traded. Why? Because it isn't a tank. Don't expect either of those players to be on the roster next year though.
  22. It's a solid move. Getting a (likely high) 2nd for Sammy in the last year of his contract is great value.
  23. No. The writing was on the wall for Sammy when we didn't pick up his option. You can't give injury-prone players big contracts. We finally have a GM that understands the value of draft picks. He's like the anti-Whaley. Andre Holmes and Vlad Ducasse should start packing their bags.
