  1. How many trades actually happened today? Five or six? How many were blockbusters? Zero? The NFL is a league where teams build through the draft and free agency. Trades are used mostly as a way to move disgruntled players and dump big salaries. Why give up assets to get an overpaid player his former team didn't want, who probably doesn't know your system, when you have a rich menu of prime players available in the off season?
  2. It is stupid. If you're not tanking, then you should do what you can to build the best team possible. Especially if there's an opportunity to trade for a good player who can still be on the roster next year and beyond.
  3. OK, Mahomes at #10, great list.
  4. Honestly, when all this started, he had shown enough to warrant at least a training camp invitation from an NFL team. If Peterman and EJ Manuel can get a shot, he should have too. But he's been out of the game so long and the controversy around him has gotten so big now that I doubt he could ever come back.
  5. Is Kaepernick black-balled? Isn't that kind of a personal question?
  6. I was watching a random game about 10 years ago, during which the announcers' mics went dead for a solid 5-10 minutes. You could still hear the crowd noise and the players yelling, etc. - all the sounds of the game, just no knuckleheads talking about it incessantly. It was a great experience.
  7. Thank you, Captain Hindsight. It was a good pick on draft day, and it's not a bust situation yet by any means.
  8. I don't care. It's long gone, and bad calls are part of the game. Let the refs call it like they see it on the field, for better or worse. For the good of the game, I would much rather have questionable calls than instant replay, which ruins the experience in my opinion.
  9. I think Zay proved he can play in the NFL, just not as a #1, or even a starter on a lot of teams. He has the benefit of 2+ years experience as a pro to help him compete for a roster spot. He'll be fine if he keeps working hard.
  10. At the current exchange rate, he ran a 3.23 US.
  11. Bills D would have stuffed them on the 4th down attempt, so he had no good options.
  12. I think the roster is pretty solid at the moment. Today's game was a good example of that -There were multiple injuries, but it made no difference because they have good players up and down the depth chart, and good coaching. The Defense is pretty much as good as any fan could hope for, from top to bottom. WR still seems a little weak, but I think they can let it ride as long as Allen continues to improve his throwing game. That's pretty much what it comes down to now. They need to score more points, and that's more on Allen than anyone else on the current roster .
  13. Honestly, even alcohol is no excuse for doing something that stupid. If you don't know well enough not to do something like that, you will, in all brutal truth, find yourself on the wrong side of natural selection. I seriously think that person is pre-programmed to die young.
  14. ... with a 250 lb. running back who was lately getting 5+ yard chunks at will. That was indeed one of the worst coaching calls I have ever seen. That kick had zero chance of making it through the uprights. Even punting, or throwing a hail Mary for a pick were better options.
  15. Good timing on the bye week, turns out.
  16. My school did not have a football program when I was growing up. I was a swimmer, still am to some degree, and took up an obsession with big mountain skiing, well into my 30's. Thanks to the latter, I now have the knees of an NFL veteran. Otherwise, I can't relate. I can't imagine what it's like to get hit full speed by an angry 320 lb. man, and to have him land on top of me with his full weight. That said, I have been caught in an avalanche before, and perhaps it's a similar feeling. Also, while I have managed to maintain a high level of fitness most of my life, I can only imagine what my body would feel like if I was paid millions to max out its physical potential.
  17. Kinda hard to beat 225 yards. That's a career day for basically anyone who ever played RB in the NFL. 165 and 3TDs is arguably even better.
  18. I think there is almost never an intent by a defender to hit a guy in the head (with the possible exception of a guy like Burfict). The problem is the defender choosing to follow through with a hit that has a good chance of landing on the head. That's a reckless play, and it looked to me like that's what happened to Allen. Jones was going for an aggressive legal tackle, but he didn't really have the time and space to make it a clean hit. So it was a reckless decision, even if the intent was not to go for the head.
  19. I never established a lot of faith in him to begin with. The inaccuracy problem is real. He rarely throws with anticipation, he misses open guys on long and short throws, and he rarely gives receivers an opportunity to run after the catch. He has not shown that he can "make all the throws", not by a long shot. His performance yesterday made me wonder if he even has the capacity to learn from his mistakes. All week long he was talking about cleaning up those bad decisions, the up-for-grabs throws off the back foot under pressure. And he went and did it even more this week. At 16 games in, I don't question his will, his leadership, etc. But his throwing ability and decision making have not improved at all.
  20. WTF- Reminded me of the Peterman meltdown. So many bad decisions, so many off-target throws when he had plenty of time and an open man, so many throws off the back foot. Holding onto the ball forever, 3 terrible picks, then gets his bell rung for good measure.
  21. Wow, the level of delusion here is astonishing. Did anyone watch Allen play the first three quarters? One good drive, 3 picks plus a bunch of other back-foot throws, every throw was off target, then nearly got himself killed trying to be a hero. He had NOTHING yesterday.
  22. Barkley comes out ice cold against the World Champs, and on his first play floats a nice timing pass to Knox (who made an even better catch). He then reels off a few more short to mid range passes. He was in a rhythm immediately. He clearly looks more level-headed out there, gets the ball off faster, and is way more on target with his throws. I think he's the better QB at the moment. Either way, its interesting to look at the total offensive stat line for today. 280 passing yards, 140 on the ground, a 100-yard day from Gore, and 4 receivers put up decent numbers. Not a terrible day, until you see all the TOs.
  23. Fouts had many senior moments during the telecast as well.
  24. There is a crybaby thread specifically for this. I'm not arguing your point, just trying to keep things tidy.
