Bills interested in Deebo Samuel per Mike Giardi
skibum replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's interesting to think about a short-range air attack with the Samuels' Deebo and Curtis (Curbo Samuels?), Kincaid, Knox, and Cook creating endless easy options to move the chains, and all with the ability to break one open once in a while. But it also seems like overkill. They really need the downfield action a lot more. -
Possible scenarios: - Trade pick 33 today for a vet WR, probably to whichever team wants Cooper DeJean the most. - Draft BPA = Cooper DeJean, and roll the dice on WR at 60. You know Beane loves it when a blue-chip prospect is available later than expected, ie Dalton Kincaid. - Trade down a few more spots to likely still end up with one of the top 3 WR still available, and amass more mid-round ammo. Let's face it - None of these scenarios replaces the production of prime Diggs. All of them have big trade-offs. It's just not going to be a great draft for the Bills this year, sorry to say. And no way in hell Beane is drafting a guy named Kool Aid.

Kirk Cousins isn’t happy with Atlanta’s draft choice
skibum replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess they just looked into the next year or two of college QB prospects, and saw this as their best chance to draft the best guy for the future. And if you believe, as many do, that it's best to let a rookie QB sit and learn from a seasoned vet for a year or two before he takes the reins, then what the heck. Cousins is the reigning godfather of bridge QBs. If ATL made a mistake, it was in how much they paid him. Hey, it's not my money anyway. -
Nice work, Beane: (a) The Bills didn't have the ammo to move up high enough to draft one of the top 3 receivers. (b) Nobody of the blue-chip persuasion dropped to 28. (c) The remaining talent level is overall very good, and the odds of hitting look pretty equal from 28 through at least the mid 2nd round. (d) Beane now holds by far the most valuable pick remaining. Lots of talent still on the board, and he has a full day to field offers from everyone else. One could argue that, given the talent level still available this year, holding pick 33 is worth more than any of the last 5-10 picks of round 1. I think the key will be acquiring as many picks above 150 as possible, as I understand there is a big drop-off in talent this year after that.

What I love most about this trade-down is that Beane now holds the highest remaining pick, and he has a whole, long day to field offers for it. There are still a lot of great players left, and a lot of teams will be looking to trade with the Bills to make sure they get their guy. I think there is a ton of value in that alone, and combined with the added mid-round picks, I think Beane did well on value considering the depth of players available outside the top 15. The big story to watch down the road will be if Xavier Worthy becomes the next great Chief that the Bills basically handed them.

Rumor: Bills trying aggressively to move up for a WR in round one
skibum replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just think the Bills have the assets to trade up high enough to get one of the big 3 WR this year. They are already fielding a paper-thin roster. I say just take BPA, suffer through this 2024-5 rebuild, and get it all back on track next year. -
Will we be in Super Bowl contention this year?
skibum replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not likely. Josh always gives us a puncher's chance, but make no mistake - This is a rebuilding year. -
OJ never truly acted like an innocent man in any way, besides empty words. He absolutely did it, and I think he spent the rest of his life trying to convince the world, and himself, that he didn't.

One of the most entertaining personalities on the team in recent years, and he made a lot of big plays during his tenure in Buffalo. He will be missed! Best of luck with the Giants, Jordan, and Thank You for your contribution to the Bills!

It already was - this board is in denial!
-
It was already looking like a proper rebuild, but I think the fans were in denial. Now there’s no hiding it. Unless Beane has something up his sleeve - like flipping this pick for some other vet WR1, Josh Allen will be throwing to a bunch of rooks and jags this year.

Anyone else feeling pretty good with the Bills?
skibum replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've certainly seen worse, but I think it's going to be a very mediocre year, though it will be entertaining. There are just too many starters, leaders, and tenured depth players gone, replaced with a mixed bag of non-impact players so far. And too much hope for rookies to produce right away. Hopefully they will emerge as a better team on the other side of it, and have enough money to retool for 25-26. With Josh Allen, the Bills will always have a puncher's chance. But I'm ready for 8-9, and it won't hurt my feelings. -
Bills sign Taron Johnson to 3-year $31 million extension
skibum replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can we all agree to call it "Nickel CB" instead of "Nickelback"? -
That probably won't happen. I think it's an interesting draft because so many QB, OT, WR, and CB are predicted to go in the top 25. Possibly 10-12 between just QB and OT alone, and the Bills don't need either of those, or a CB in rd. 1. That could mean the Bills have premier player at some other position fall into their lap - DL or S in particular, but in general there could be some very nice players available that are not WR, QB, CB, or OT. Beane could either stand pat or trade up just a few picks to get a blue chip talent. If they don't trade up big to get one of the marquee receivers, I could see them doing this instead, and taking a second-tier WR in the second round.

We are set at WR. Maybe we’ll grab one in Round 6.
skibum replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you for your perspective, Mr. Beane. -
Beane may move up a few picks to make sure he gets his guy, but his guy is not going to be a top-10 pick because the talent is deep this year. Plus, why does everyone assume we're taking a WR in round 1?

The Bills will be better in 2024 and everyone overreacted
skibum replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just because guys like Poyer, Floyd, Hyde, White, Davis, and Morse had to walk due to the realities of age/injuries/cost, does not mean that their replacements will be as good at football as they were when they played here. And you can't count on young players improving, either. So far, this team is objectively worse, and it's pretty obvious. Doesn't mean our Bills can't have themselves a great season, but until it plays out I don't see how you can argue they have improved. -
Not a big splash, and maybe he doesn't even make the team, but you gotta have depth at LB.

Giants sign Devon Singletary to 3 year, $16.5M deal
skibum replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm happy for him landing a nice contract, but it's too bad he has to depart a team that's very much on the rise, and suit up for one that is very much not. I don't know the Texans' cap situation, but maybe they could have kept him around for that kind of money. Now they got nothing at RB. -
Beane is not one to fill immediate needs with draft picks. They are probably going to bring in a veteran, but I don't think they can't afford a really good one. We shall see.
