  1. Unless Foles goes on a deep run in this years playoffs and looks good doing it, then no. But if the Eagles get bounced by the Bears and Foles looks mediocre I would rather stick with Wentz who is still on a rookie deal and was an MVP candidate last year.
  2. I think Fornette is talented but I don't see him being a Zeke, Gurley, Bell or Barkley type difference maker. He is a dam fine power runner but not a capable receiver and not elite at pushing between the tackles either. I think he has top 10 RB talent but when you draft him at pick 4 you want a top 5 elite RB. I think Jacksonville dumps him for a early 3rd or late 2nd round pick this off-season. It cuts their losses while another team gets very good talent on the cheap. I don't think he would be worth trading for if you are the Bills. Too much of a headcase and malcontent for McBeane even if it cost the team a 3rd rounder I just don't see the fit.
  3. He will be 31, on a sizable contract, and has been banged up lately. I wouldn't be opposed to trading for him but not at the cost of 2 draft picks. If it was a swap of our 3rd for Cincy's 5th or 6th I would strongly consider it. Green I think still might have 1-3 very productive years left. But I am not trading a high 2nd rounder and a mid round pick (which I value more with a regime that seems to know how to draft) for a short term solution at WR that is far from a sure thing high impact player. If the draft compensation were lowered then I would listen as the market for free agent WR's isn't that great and the draft might not produce an impact player. But at the steep asking price of a early 2nd and a late 4th I would rather just draft 2 WR's with those picks.
  4. He was viewed as a generational guard prospect projected to be a Zack Martin type player right out of the gate and Nelson came in and looked the part his rookie year. Given how important each position along the O-line is now and how hard it is to find guards now (It used to be the best guards and centers drafted in the first two rounds were low risk picks not so much anymore) its no longer stupid to draft guards or centers high up. They are premium positions that aren't easily replaceable. Overall I like to see a much hyped rookie guard come in and look the part, the last time guards went high in round one (Cooper and Warmack) they busted.
  5. Its not necessarily a fallacy but it is something that gets overstated. Often times the highest player on the board will not be taken if the position doesn't fit need simply because the second best player on the board is in a position of need. The draft is about value and if you are drafting 9 and you have the 7th and 9th best player on your board still available but the player that is ranked 7th isn't at a position of need and the 9th best player is then teams will take the player ranked 9th. Its splitting hairs in terms of talent level and you want the player that will help your team more. Now if the choice is between the 7th best player on the board who isn't at a position of need and the 14th that is then you take the higher ranked player. So its value vs. need and you weigh value more but its not the be all end all.
  6. I am not sure a trade down will be available at pick 9. Unless multiple QB's get highly coveted in the pre-draft process I don't see the Bills having a talent at pick 9 that they wouldn't want but other teams would be willing to trade up for. So I think more than likely the team is stuck at pick 9 and will have to take the best player available. That being said if I have my choice of positions to pick it would be RT. Ideally I think WR is the teams biggest need but there isn't a player worth taking at 9 at the position. More realistically at RT would fit the teams second biggest need on offense and be a mighty fine way to add more talent around Allen via the draft. At pick 41 the team can take a WR to complement the existing talent (I also would want a vet WR, I am not going to be fooled by Zay and Foster just yet.)
  7. I am glad Kyle is looking to get out at age 35, he has had a significant amount of injury issues and playing deep into your 30's can take its toll. Kyle has also collected on a big contract so its not like he needs the money. I hope he enjoys retirement. It was so great to see him end the drought and come back to try and be the glue for a young defense. Even through his last season was a losing season he had a good year and certainly helped lay the foundation for the defense and the culture of the new regime. Really always loved Kyle, he was almost always a bright spot for a team with so few bright spots.
  8. O-line players are highly coveted so I can't see the trade market having high end lower risk impact starters. WR's on the other hand might be more available. So I can see a trade for a WR happening, but I think a massive trading spree is unlikely. The team has been drafting well and they have the dollars to spend in free agency. Why burn picks to take back players most likely on bigger contracts when you can just sign free agents? Ertz is the best or second best tight end in the game, there is almost zero chance he gets traded unless its for an ungodly sum of draft picks at which point it wouldn't be worth it.
  9. Yes but if you are suffering from CTE I don't think weed will help your brain is my main point. Chronic weed use has been associated with negative effects on the brain (That being said most if not all of the effects are reversible if you stop using over a long period of time.) So unless there is new research showing otherwise I think the better argument for weed is to treat pain for these retired players. CBD might be better for CTE but I think research needs to be done.
  10. If the team resigns Jordan Phillips they have 3 solid DT's in Henry, Star, and Phillips. I think the team would be better off drafting a DT in the mid rounds to help rotate in and develop behind those 3. I think the departure of Kyle means Phillips becomes a must resign. So I think edge is a bigger priority considering Hughes will be 31, the jury is still out on Shaq, and Murphy is both older and comes with injury concerns. IF you resign J.Phillips you can address DT in round 4 and be comfortable. I think they go OT in round 1 but if they went D-line I wouldn't be too upset. The pass rush is decent but not spectacular so adding a top 10 pick that can add a prime pass rusher isn't a bad way to go considering the importance of a big time pass rush to win games.
  11. A wall could easily be circumvented with a ladder, some carpet, and a rope. Also you could just destroy or dig under a wall. Over 50% of illegal immigrants are people who come in legally and overstay their visas. A wall does not address the majority of the problem. I am all for border security but a wall is not the answer. Using technology (Drones, Lasers, and motion detectors) and more manpower is a cheaper and more effective way to secure the border. Also if you want to crack down on illegal immigration you probably are better off cracking down on employers and chocking off the money illegals can make. But Trump himself has hired illegals and his big business buddies like to have an influx of cheap labor. So demonize the southern border with an ineffective solution because the visual of a wall makes people in Alabama feel safer.
  12. Marijuana could certainly help with killing pain and keeping retired players away from much more dangerous pain killers. As far as CTE I think maybe CBD oil and other treatments might be worth studying as alternative treatments but straight weed isn't going to help guys recover from a brain injury, weed isn't as harmful a drug as alchol or harder drugs but it isn't a magic plant either. Weed tends to have a negative effect on your cognition if you are a chronic user so I don't see how it would help with CTE.
  13. Possibly, but I would still like to see the Bills make a run at him or one of the other top WR's on the free agent market. At around pick 6-9 there isn't likely a high impact WR and a trade down might not be available. I am not too sure Mac, Foster, and Zay should be counted on to anchor the wide receiver core, I think Foster or Zay can be a WR3 maybe even a WR2 and Mac could be a good gadget player. But with Allen on a rookie deal I would rather overspend on an abundance of WR talent rather than go cheap because you bought into a few young guns towards the end of the season. Golden Tate and DeSean Jackson would make for two nice players to pair with Zay and Foster for example.
  14. I would love Jackson on a one year deal, Sign him and Tyrell Williams on the outside, let Foster and Zay battle for the slot position. I wouldn't want a longer than 1 year commitment on Jackson but as a one year stop gap while the young guys develop it would be a smart move.
  15. He is a backup with some potential. I wouldn't roll into a season with him as the starter but if he is your backup TE you have decent depth. Will he ever be starting caliber? I don't honestly know but I think he could be if he takes positive steps in development. I would more or less project his ceiling as a low end starter or a high end backup.
  16. I would like to see how Allen can improve with another off-season to work on his footwork and watch his own tape. I also want to see how much better he can play with better pass protection and better skill position players.
  17. There are a lot of teams with QB's on rookie deals who have a ton of cap space and a closing window to take advantage of a QB with a low cap number. I could see a team like the Colts or Jets easily overpaying Clowney, Lawrence (who I think will get tagged), and Bell. Free agents always get overpaid and in a market flushed with cash and urgency its hard to see some team not giving a top pass rusher at least 18-20 million and a top offensive weapon like Bell 14-16 million.
  18. Clowney could command 20 million per, Bell 15 million, and Lawrence 18-20 million. That's 53-55 million Daryl Williams and Pradise probably will combined be well over 10 million if not 8-10 million a piece. That being said even if that 90 million goes quick the team likely can open up an additional 10-25 million in cap space without losing much in value. Shady, Clay, Murphy, Vlad, Ivory, and a few other players can be cut to open up more space if needed.
  19. Some might get into the consumer level but most is just going to end up in wealthy people buying more assets which might inflate asset prices in the short term but it won't generate economic activity that will actually produce consumer demand. The investor class is getting a big wet kiss from these tax cuts but your are a fool to think that it will actually generate significant economic activity.
  20. I think the Bills were hoping for a great haul from the win now Rams who might have overpaid for a pass rusher like Hughes. It doesn't shock me that the Bills who struggled early in the year might have listened to an offer for Hughes. A second round pick and a late or mid round pick is likely the offer the Bills wanted. The Rams were probably willing to offer a third rounder and considering the value Hughes could have to the team in 2019 its likely they weren't trading him unless they got a good return. I wouldn't rule out pass rusher in round 1 but I don't think that's a given. I think they go BPA either an OT, Pass rusher, or Corner.
  21. The O-line didn't play that well last year going from an elite unit (particularly in run blocking) in 2015 and 2016 to a fairly average unit in 2017. So the regression coming solely from a lack of talent in 2018 isn't the only blemish on Castillo's resume with the Bills. I think Daboll should get to pick his O-line coach if he wants Castillo then keep him but the team should not be afraid to move on considering they will have at least 2-3 new starters on the unit. As for special teams I don't think you can blame a ST coach for every miscue on the unit. But the things that are in a ST coaches control have been very bad this year and were subpar last year. The punt and kick coverage hasn't been good in a lot of games. Yeah sometimes a dynamic returner will break one but this is happening too often to not be a reflection of bad coaching. Like most things with special teams the leash is very short. So if a unit underperforms for 2 years in a row you have to make dramatic changes.
  22. I was shocked White didn't make it, dude has been good, Milano deserved it not sure if his injury impacted it. Hyde, Proyer, Hughes, Kyle, and Lorax were on the bubble could have went either way, but White is a big snub.
  23. I would have to watch the games again, off the top of my head I would say that the defense floats between mid levels of aggression and low levels of aggression. The defense is at its best when it is fast and attacking but often times the defense will go into a more conservative method of play. I hope that as McD learns to utilize the depth of the D-line and the speed of the linebackers and secondary to be more aggressive in general. I do think the defense is well constructed both from a talent perspective and from a scheme perspective. Its built for the modern NFL (deep rotating D-line, fast linebackers to take away the short passing and screen game, and a good secondary overall) but like any tool its only as good as you wield it. I think the coaching staff needs to adjust the way it utilize the defense.
  24. The Special teams unit this years has been very bad this year and was below average last year. So the results just aren't there the past 2 years. The frustration with Juan Castillo stems from the O-lines sub par performance the past two years, but at least with the O-line you can cite lack of talent in 2018 to explain away bad results.
  25. 3k yards is not impressive at all, 13 QB's have 3500 or more yards with 2 weeks left in the season (4 QB's already have 4k yards.) 20 QB's have 3k or more yards. 10 or more QB's typically finish with 4k yards. Usually well over 20 QB's finish with 3k in yards passing.
