  1. Donald might be the best defensive player in the league. The Rams have a lot of players to play in the future but I they could front load the deals for the first two years so that Geoff and Peters contracts won't be up for renewal until 2 years from now. I would also imagine that Talib and Whitworth would be significant contracts that come off the books once you have to pay Geoff and Peters. My overall impression is that the two most important players for the Rams are Geoff as the key piece on the offense and Donald as the centerpiece for the defense. Every other player on the team is more expendable than those two.
  2. Agreed, the Rams are in more of a win-now mode than the Raiders. The whole Rams defense hinges on Darnold generating massive pressure up the middle (They don't really have great edge rushers.) The Rams have too much invested into this season trading away a lot of picks for win-now talent, they aren't going to tank their defense by trading Darnold. The Raiders have a mentality that their defense was bad with Mack so they can be bad without Mack. Thus I could see a scenario where if a boatload of picks were offered the Raiders would be willing to part with Mack.
  3. I don't get why anyone would want Bridgewater as a starter. Bridgewater wasn't that good before the injury (Look up his stats they weren't that great) and his knee almost exploded and he hasn't played in 2 years. When people on this board were calling for Bridgewater to replace Tyrod I was genuinely perplexed as to what they saw from Teddy other than he just wasn't Tyrod.
  4. You also still have to play to earn that money. It's not guaranteed if you retire or simply don't want to play. But that being said I think most football players want to go out and play the game. Once the money is taken care of that's great but the competition and thrill of the chase motivates them.
  5. Yes and No, I think people don't take the antics seriously but to the outside, it just comes off as white trash but to fans of the NFL it is just stupid fun.
  6. I would be OK with it just being a 2019 1st plus a 2019 late rounder. But I think the Raiders are going to want more and there is a much higher risk of investing a lot of draft capital in a player and a massive contract. But a 2019 1st is a small price to pay for a player of Mack's caliber. Teams that have 3-4 year runs of success (Which in the NFL a run of 3-4 years where you have a window to win a Super Bowl is as good as you can ask for) always have a dominant pass rusher and Mack certainly would provide that esp at an age where he has a solid window of success left. But I think the Raiders would want something that looks like this. 2019 1st, 2019 3rd and a 2020 1st. Trading all that and devoting a lot of cap space to a player is hard to do. But if the Bills could do it with maybe only one 1st rounder and some other 3rd round and lower picks go for it.
  7. I think weed being illegal in the NFL is stupid. But in a world where you know weed could damage your career (Which suddenly is looking up due to the Coleman trade) why on Earth would you take that chance? Idiot, and if Calloway is missing time boy do the Browns need Josh Gordon to come in quick.
  8. 43% of Republicans are authoritarian cunts (If that poll is correct.) Anyone that wants to let any government agency shut down speech that falls in line with free speech (which can only be restricted by either Slander or Direct Incitement) is an authoritarian !@#$. Google, Facebook and Twitter are private companies they can do what they like. Free speech only protects you from the government censoring you. Now don't get me wrong, I am a free speech absolutist so I think that what Google, Facebook and Twitter SHOULD do (key word is should) is allow all speech that doesn't fall under the category of Incitement and Slander (Which Alex Jones skirts the line with and even crosses on rare occasion but most of his content is only on the border.) I think it is important to remember the debate is between what companies like Google and Facebook should be doing instead of arguing for free speech in a legal sense. It is just unfortunate that the canary in the coal mine for online free expression is a repugnant idiot like Alex Jones who is so close to the border on incitement and slander that it almost makes it hard to defend him. It might not even be the case that Jones is the canary in the coal mine, it might be that most far right and far left commentators get left alone and that Jones was just so close to the border in terms of incitement that there might not be another case of this type of mass censorship ever since you won't find another large media figure claiming mass shooting victims weren't real. But I would almost rather not take that chance if free expression is on the line.
  9. Can't blame them, playing high-end Division 1 ball is a full-time job that masquerades around as an amateur sport. If you are a legit enough prospect to make it to the NFL focus on the thing that is going to make you millions potentially.
  10. I wouldn't hold my breath for Mack, as much as I like him, he just isn't a likely possibility. I think Mack would likely command a 1st and 3rd in 2019 plus a conditional 3rd that could bump to a 2nd in 2020. I might consider doing that but you have to factor in just exactly how much cap it is going to cost to resign Mack. So not only are you giving up a massive amount of picks but also a massive amount of future cap space as well. That might be too much to mortgage for one defensive player.
  11. I think with running backs coming out of college and being better receivers who can also be workhorse backs you are going to see the return of the elite back. Guys like Gurley and LeVeon who are all around threats at their position are having tremendous value because they are threats to run and catch passes at extremely effective levels. Sure these types are rare and once in awhile, you find a Zeke who is a complete mauler with subpar receiving ability but I think the relevance of the NFL running back is on an upswing because of the dual-threat RB's emergence. If you consider Phillip Rivers a HOF QB then the Chargers could get Gates/LT/Rivers. Also Peyton/Edge James/Marvin Harrison are another possibility.
  12. Could the track practice and competition have played a factor? It could have, it’s all speculation but my point was that a lot of Goodwin’s injuries were heavy contact injuries like concussion and injuries that happened after hits violently tore muscle. Also the narrative the poster was saying was that Goodwin was simply playing for Buffalo to fund his true passion for track. Which by all accounts for how hard he worked while he was in Buffalo is not true. Also on the surface it makes little sense since Goodwin was on a 3rd round pick deal and there isn’t exactly a lot of money to be made in track. If Goodwin was truly that passionate about track he probably wouldn’t have played football at all since one tear to the ACL could damage your speed forever. You could argue that Goodwin’s track training contributed negatively to his injury history. However I would put that more so on the training staff for allowing him to train in such a way that would make him more likely to get hurt than on Goodwin for doing something that he got team approval to do. Also Goodwin always to me looked like a legit big play type WR when he was healthy. It was just right when he would have a big game he would get hurt. It's not necessarily something that just happens to the Bills, players leave a team they struggled with and go off (I am sure Colts fans lament Jerry Hughes.) It’s the unpredictable NFL. I was sad to see Goodwin go since in 2017 he signed with the Niners for so little and if the org was willing to let Woods go and trade Sammy why not kick the tires on Goodwin for one more year if it isn’t going to cost a lot? No need to try over sour grapes, I can’t hate Goodwin as long as a player works hard and is respected by his teammates you are good in my book even if the results on the field aren’t the best.
  13. That's a lot of speculation that you are implying that just has no evidence. Once again Goodwin was always reported to be a model citizen with the Bills. A lot of his injuries were contact injuries like concussions and violent ligament tears coming off of hits. It's not like Goodwin was getting non-contact injuries that could be attributed to training for a different sport. I think you are pushing a narrative as opposed to reading into the kind of player and worker he was when he was with the team.
  14. Calloway is likely the player they want to pave more playing time for. If Gordon isn't ready I think they could go vet WR but it wouldn't be a distraction like Dez or TO.
  15. I could be wrong but I never heard of Goodwin not putting in 100% or any other stories of him being a ****ty teammate while he was in Buffalo, I think you are projecting a lot that just isn't there because he played a lot better as soon as he left Buffalo. It honestly isn't a coincidence that his first healthy season was his first breakout season. Goodwin missed. 26 games of action in his first 4 years in Buffalo and was consistently battling a lot of different types of injuries. I could be wrong but I never heard any reports of Goodwin not being a model citizen. Sometimes timing and luck just doesn't work out.
  16. On paper, I would take Tyrod over AJ. That's not to say that "On Paper" means much. AJ to me is a game manager, kind of was in college and looked to be that type of player in limited action with the Bengals. Tyrod is a game manager but with a cannon arm and the ability to make plays with his legs that AJ simply can't make. I honestly expect all the same complaints that this board had with Tyrod (captain check down type stuff) when AJ takes the field. That's not to say that the Bills can't win with a conservative QB but I don't expect the huge uptick in QB production because the anti-Christ of QB's Tyrod isn't here.
  17. I am assuming the Browns got a 5th rounder although it could be lower, that's honestly a decent return for a player that is likely a bust. The Bills are taking a chance on a player that might benefit from a change in scenery. The Bills desperation at WR makes me like the move. Coleman is a better pro-prospect than almost any player they would have been able to get late in the draft. It's a low risk high reward move for the Bills and a nice salvaging of value for the Browns.
  18. That's rich, although I will say that Coleman is going to a worse offense on paper but the Bills organization is a better one than the Browns.
  19. Goodwin missed nearly all of 2015 and in 2014 was dealing with literally 4 different injuries. He was also banged up a big in 2016 playing through several injuries. Goodwin always put in the effort and was by all accounts a good teammate. He just was a smaller guy that got unlucky was some injuries early on in his career. He wasn't phoning it in on those lucrative 3rd round pick contracts. The dude wasn't cashing in on some fat deal and then turned it on when he left the team. I think you are crafting this narrative that just doesn't exist.
  20. The fanbase of the team he came from are the fans that watch the player the most. It's not the be all end all but just because the Browns organization sucks doesn't mean that the fans are clueless as to what they are watching.
  21. Goodwin's main issue was always health in my opinion. Goodwin always looked like a great explosive big play type player when he played, it just seemed like he was always getting hurt.
  22. They must really like what they have in Antonio Callaway their early 4th round pick out of Florida. Callaway was rated as a 1st round type talent but off the field issues made him fall hard. I think Callaway who is a very fast stretch the field type player is more than likely impressing the Browns enough where they can trade Coleman for something.
  23. That's what I am thinking, at worst it was a 4th and considering that Coleman doesn't exactly have high value. I think it was probably the Bills 5th. Not a bad trade for both sides. The Browns have some talent at WR and Coleman for all the potential he has just isn't panning out. Nabbing a mid-round pick for Coleman was probably the best return the Browns were going to get. The Bills get some much-needed help at receiver for a fairly low cost (having the extra pick from Ragland makes it even easier.)
  24. It also depends on the coaching staffs long-term view of Allen. It is completely irrelevant that Allen is with the third stringers. The coaching staff has a long term plan of action with Allen and are following it to the T.
  25. You are looking at things in retrospect and acting like decisions that panned out were obvious decisions that any boob could have made, the bottom line is that Reid always did good in identifying QB talent both at his backup position and his starting position. I think it Reid can get to the playoffs with Mahomes (who is starting his first full season) It will further prove how good Reid is at identifying QB talent.
