  1. I would scrap Douglas and start fresh. But fortunately I think you are correct and Douglas selects the coach.
  2. The Jets aren't in the worst position to rebuild if they get Lawrence. They have Seattle's first round pick this year and next year which should help any team rebuild, they have Darnold who they could flip for I would say at least a 2nd round pick which can help add a piece, and they have a lot of cap space. The issue with the Jets would be that they would need to fire their GM and coach and execute a singular vision for the team. They need to follow the blueprint that the Bills did with McBeane. Granted the Bills had Whaley in for a few months, but I think McD sold himself as needing the call on who the next GM would be. Overall I think the Jets like most teams that will be drafting number one overall simply in need to do a proper 3 year rebuild with a GM and coach brought in together. If they can get the QB and coach right that's 70% of the battle right there.
  3. No matter who the Bills play in the wildcard round they are likely to play a tough opponent, the Bills need to focus on sealing up the division against Denver.
  4. He was a very good QB, got them to the Super Bowl in 1997, but yes he was far from a hall of fame player.
  5. The defense being mediocre to terrible while he was here (despite inheriting a top 3 defense) is the reason he got fired after 2 seasons. Carpenter in 2015 was still a solid kicker, 85% on the season only missed 2 kicks inside 49 yards out of 22 kicks and was 3 of 5 from 50+ and Rex still won just 8 games.
  6. I wouldn't want to see the Ravens. Tough defense and Lamar can be very dynamic with his legs to the point where he can carry that rather bad supporting cast to a decent effort. Also Tucker can rain field goals which in a close playoff game could be the difference. Miami to me is the best matchup in my opinion. I think Miami's defense is good but not great. I also think that Miami would be the worst rushing offense the team could see in the playoffs and I still have concerns about the rushing defense against a better rushing attack. I wish there was still two bye weeks as it would be realistic to get a two seed and a bye. But this is the world we live in. Colts have a very good defense and a rushing attack that could be a problem. I would rather see Miami whose QB isn't that much more mobile and they don't quite that a potent rushing attack.
  7. John Brown is such a big component to what this team needs on offense, with him out there the offense becomes super dynamic. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back against the Pats if he needs more time give it to him.
  8. Looking at the AFC and I do say that the Bills (esp at home) can beat any team in the field. KC presents the big gorilla in the room as they would be favored and likely home. But I do think that the Bills do have some hard outs in the first two rounds. The Browns, Titans and Indy all present tough matchups as they can all run the ball, have competent QB's and play good defense. The Fins have a tough defense but given their offensive limitations I feel they could be the best first round matchup. I think given that KC will have the bye, the Steelers are likely to win their division and the Titans are in position to win their division. The likely matchups for the Bills at a possible 3/4 seed are Cleveland, Miami or Indy. Out of those three I would probably prefer Miami and least like to see the Browns.
  9. My main concern for the offense in 2021 and beyond is will Daboll leave and can they keep the O-line together. I think they can easily retain Mongo at a similar contract to what they paid Spain but maybe with more guaranteed. But D.Williams has been a complete revelation at RT and is going to command top money. An O-line franchise tag is 14 million, might it be worth it to keep Williams in the fold to work out a longer term deal? If they can keep Daboll for one more year and retain Mongo and D.Williams then I think they will be just fine. I think they can easily resign Ty for one more year, draft an O-line in round 5 or 6 to be a depth project, let Ike or Ford battle it out for the LG spot, have Bates back as the swiss army knife depth and find another vet guard like Winters to keep the O-line deep. I would be fine with mostly spending the cap dollars on offense resigning the O-line players and maybe adding a vet TE (I think you can resign Levi Wallace and Milano to reasonable deals) and then using the draft to fill any remaining defensive holes and depth needs.
  10. Miami has a solid pass rush (averaging 2.6 sacks per game which is 11th in the league, a quality secondary but they can get run on as they are giving up 120 yards a game on the ground (for reference the Bills give up 119.) They are third in the NFL in points allowed (the Bills are 15th) which does indicate they have a strong defense. However I do think that while they are a very good defense I don't consider them to be this top 3-4 defense in the league. I think their defense is in the top 10 but I think they have feasted on a lot of bad offenses. The only quality offense they shut down was the Rams, who are really good so not taking that away from them but that's about all they have to show for it. The teams in a winning effort that they gave up less than 21 points to are the Jets twice, The Jaguars, a banged up 49ers team, The Chargers, The Bengals without Burrow, and the Rams. Not exactly a murders row outside of the Rams. Denver's D is underrated and while I agree with your assessment of Drew Lock he still is capable of putting up a big game and playing well. This is also an away game and playing in Denver is never easy. I favor the Bills in this game but this one is a trickier game than some expect.
  11. The Broncos have been playing better as of late in their past four games, they are not an easy out. In the past four games they beat the Dolphins who were red hot at the time, lost in a blowout to the Saints but they were literally without a QB, took the Chiefs to a one possession game and beat the Panthers. The Bills desperately need to take care of the division this week because I don't want this to come down to beating New England. I think ideally the Bills seal up the division and keep themselves in the running for the two seed.
  12. To be fair to the Browns and Baker they have played in some horrible weather conditions and they have an amazing pair of RB's and they lost their best WR. I think if they needed to throw more Baker's numbers would be better. But they are playing the football that best plays to the strengths of their team.
  13. I think he is enough of an athlete at a position that isn't very strong that he will hang around the league for a few years. But I do hold out hope that he will pan out. He has these great flashes but just can't put it together consistently.
  14. The defense really crushed it against a solid offense. Love to see it, now have to worry about locking up the division.
  15. It is awesome to see this game going this way. After a shaky first half mostly complete domination.
  16. The 4 minute offense was shaky to start this drive but now they have just completely grinded down this game down and it's shut the door on the Steelers and put the Bills in field goal range.
  17. I agree but I see the logic of not just giving up on scoring a TD that can put you up two TD's as opposed to a TD and a field goal.
  18. Given that the first running play lost 4 yards i don't blame them for trying to score via passing
  19. Just an ugly half here. The offense needs a complete reset of their play calling. Defense has been very good. Hopefully the defense can hold this.
  20. KC went from down 10 to up 18, insane how Miami just completely dropped here.
  21. KC settled down the game a lot, now that it is back to one posession they can go back to a more balanced attack. Miami has been impressive thus far but we will see if they can awnser.
  22. I would say the Pittsburgh game last year was bigger. To clinch a spot and put the Bills in position to win the division (the week after was a game against the Pats) was probably the bigger game.
  23. This game should be interesting. I think we will see just how good the Dolphins defense is. The Fins defense has mostly fed off of some bad offenses. The Fins gave up 31 to the Bills, Seahawks and Cardinals. The only good offense they put a clinic on was the Rams. The rest of their stellar defensive performances came against the Jets twice, Bengals without Burrow, Jags, a banged up 49ers, and the Chargers. They also held the Broncos and Pats to 21 in losing efforts. Not exactly a murders row of offenses. KC being the leagues best should easily be their biggest test.
  24. 4 games left in the regular season plenty will change but as of now the temperature check is that the Bills are the toughest matchup for KC. Right now the Bills just need to focus on winning the division. Get that round 1 playoff game and worry about the rest later.
