I would rather spend the cap dollars on the Oline or retaining defensive talent. Jacobs is a beast but I think James Cook is a ready to roll player and the team can bring back Hines as a return and third down back. You then could bring in a pure back up to platoon with Cook (hopefully Motor if his number is reasonable) on the cheap.

Is the QB position a roadblock to expansion?
billsfan89 replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think there are more viable QB’s now than 20 years ago for sure. I think 20 years ago a player like Jared Goff would be a low end to 10 QB whereas now he is more like the 16th to 18th best QB in the NFL. I think the issue with expansion is that the NFL owners don’t want to split these big TV deals 34+ ways as the expansion fee while north of 6 billion is nice it would easily be eaten away at over time as you have to split your revenue more. I think what’s holding up expansion is the owners wanting expansion to occur internationally and not domestically. There really isn’t a domestic market that would really entice expansion now that LA and Vegas have teams. Expanding to Mexico City might be hard to do as I am not sure if the NFL feels like the city can sustain interest in a team full time (although at some point in the next 20 years I would bet they expand to Mexico City.) Then expanding to London and other areas of Europe would be fiscally viable but would the logistics would be insane. TLDR: Expansion is being held off likely because of the league wants to expand internationally and not because of QB play. -
Shockingly to my eye test he has been pretty good as a run defender which was not his strong suit in 2019 when he broke out with 10 sacks. I think his pass rush hasn’t been bad but it has not been as expected but I also think he has two bang up injuries which hasn’t helped him get more consistent.

AJ, Boogie and Groot have all had a nice step up esp in Von’s absence. Shaq is also putting together a nice season which is helping esp in run defense.

Not only are the Bills divisional champs but they also are at worst the three seed. Still a lot of work to do with a very tough game against Cincy and a not so easy game against the Patriots. It wasn’t pretty but the Bills took care of business fairly comfortably in a hostile weather environment away. That clinched the division, the three seed and the Bills keep their one seed hopes and destiny in their own hands for another week.
-
James Cook had a good game as did Singletary, good to see the running game from the RB’s bailing out Josh having a mediocre game. The Bills hang onto the number one seed for one more week. Two wins away from the number one seed and the 3 seed at worst.

Still too early to tell on Wilson but the early returns not great.

I think guard is a better target in round 1, likely have to try to get a back/future replacement for Mitch in round 4ish range too. Probably also have to bring in some better depth players and a vet RT to compete with Brown. I think Brown could develop into a solid RT but his health could be preventing him from developing. This team needs to bring in some competition for him. Ideally next year the line would look like Dawkins-Bates-Mitch-Rookie-Brown/Vet RT The team then kicks the loser of the RT battle to the bench has a draft pick backing up Mitch and brings in a vet or two to round out the bench.

Brown got off to a slow start but then just as he was gaining some form he hurt his ankle. I am hoping he is getting healthy again and his play improves

NFL Week #15 - Fish at Buffalo - Post Game Thread
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills have constantly showed the heart of a champion since losing to Minnesota in a heartbreaker. They got a game snowed out while dealing with a flu outbreak then won a close game against a red hot Lions team 4 days later. The Bills won their third game in 11 days against the Pats comfortably. Then the Bills play a pair of games in bad weather against tough divisional opponents and they win both games and keep the one seed for another week -
The 49ers are a great team minus the QB, and that is going to win a lot of games in the regular season when you can run an offense with several elite playmakers (Debo, Kittle and CMC) while also having a good Oline and a great defense and solid ST unit. But come the playoffs you will be forced into a situation where you have to have your QB make plays as you are going to face teams with good to great QB’s a good to great defenses consistently. Kudos to the 49ers they sealed their division and took care of business but can they do this style of play and win 3 playoff games to get to the SB? I think that’s not likely.

Is There So Little Love for Tremaine Edmunds?
billsfan89 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edumonds will be 25 next season he should easily be able to play at a high level barring serious injury for the next 4 seasons. Easily worth a long term deal. -

billsfan89 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edumonds has had such a great season and at 24 years old I am inclined to give him a big contract offer over Poyer. I love Poyer and all that he has done but give me the young LB over and older safety looking for a huge payday. -
Week 15: Dolphins at Bills on Saturday Night Football

Got to run the ball a lot, the Oline has been better in recent weeks at run blocking for the RB’s have to take advantage of that. Maybe kick the tires on Ike at LG rather than Von Rotten. -

If the Bills beat Miami and win another game they not only clinch the division but the 3 seed is the lowest they can finish. Squish the Fish and see where things fall after that. -
Rank your top 7 post week 14 WR pecking order.
billsfan89 replied to LABILLBACKER's topic in The Stadium Wall
1- Diggs 2- Davis 3- Knox 4- Mac 5- Shakir 6- Beasley 7- Brown If Crowder comes back I would rank him 4th and if Kumerow comes back I would rank him 6th. I know a lot of people are loving the Smoke and Beasley signings but I am not sure either has much left in the tank. Should the Bills desperate for WR's kick the tires? Yeah, no real problems with brining in guys slowly for a playoff push. But to have high expectations for either is dramatic. Brown got cut from two teams last year and was hurt in 2020 when he was here. Brown then couldn't catch on with a team all season. Beasley didn't sign all off-season then had a weird disappointing short stint in Tampa Bay. Not sure what he has left in the tank. I am more so hoping for a Crowder return to help out in the slot but once again do not hate kicking the tires on a pair of vet WR's who know the system. -
Week 15: Dolphins at Bills on Saturday Night Football
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills beat down and comfortably won against the Pats was it a major blowout? No but it was a comfortable 3 possession lead until a field goal late in what amounted to garbage time. The Bills are going to likely not have any "beat down" games the rest of the way as they play tough teams in Cincy, New England and Miami and even the one game against a team with a losing record in Chicago is an away game that could have bad weather which always makes a blowout harder. But I think these tighter games make for a championship mentality for this team. This season the Bills have had to overcome a lot and are still overcoming a lot. The more and more they get comfortable in tight "ugly" games the more they are prepared for the tight games that will be in the playoffs. That being said I would prefer more games like the New England game where the game is a 2-3 possession lead late as my heart can only take so much. -

Going to need him in a snow game. Going to need to just run the ball a lot preferably with RB's instead of Josh. -
Updated Beasley signing to practice squad
billsfan89 replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
My expectations are not very high but I don’t hate kicking the tires so to speak. Much like the Brown signing you are just taking a shot even if it is a long shot -
The young guns on the Dline have been playing better and Shaq is continuing to have a solid season. AJ got a sack and a pass batted Boogie didn’t light up the stat sheet this past week but I thought he played decently. Von’s impact has been felt off the field.

Orlovsky: Bills aren't as talented offensively as we thought
billsfan89 replied to Billz4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beasley is a white slot receiver who couldn’t make it work with Tom Brady, he is clearly not likely to have much in the tank. If the Bills want to kick the tires and get him on the PS, fine I guess it doesn’t hurt but it’s at best a long shot. If the Bills are hoping to get some WR help you are better off waiting for Crowder to attempt to come off IR -
Mike white went straight into ambulance after the game.
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills defense beat him up bad and he hung tough. Hopefully he is ok long term.
