  1. It’s hard to consistently win shoot outs in the NFL however I would argue that if the Bills can bring back Phillips, Hughes and Levi and add some depth in the 2nd/3rd/4th round the defense should still be at worst decent.
  2. If the Bills want to switch to a 2 TE offense primarily then I think Gronk makes more sense. But if they want Gronk as more of a role player then that really is too much money to spend on a role player in my opinion.
  3. I wouldn't hate it but that 7-9 million number is a lot to pay for a TE2. I would rather target a cheaper option like Kyle Rudolph or a draft prospect in the mid rounds than spend money that could be better off spent on the O-line so Josh isn't running for his life.
  4. I would rather kick the tires on Rudolph if he were to come on a "team friendly deal" than pay retail for Gronk who may or may not accept a backup role. Gronk is likely not coming for less than 5-7 million which for a TE2 is a vast overpay. Whereas Rudolph for less than 2 million in my opinion is more willing to take that backup role and can still produce.
  5. The talent difference between the late 1st round and the early 2nd round isn’t that different according to many scouts. If the Bills can trade back between picks 30-40 they should still be able to get a good talent. Hopefully a rush on QB’s happens around their pick and they can get a nice return on a move back.
  6. For the post season a 10 minute or 15 minute OT period makes more sense. For the regular season it is just fine.
  7. I like him as a cheap TE2 if he comes cheap. A solid vet who can contribute in a more limited role.
  8. I do agree that it might be best to "stack the offense" generally speaking. However, if this team is going to invest majorly into the defense a pass rusher to disrupt other QB's I think a pass rush really is the best way to play defense in the modern NFL and the Bills do lack a dynamic pass rusher. I wouldn't mind a Hunter trade personally but if the Bills want to stack up the offense that might make more sense.
  9. If he takes a pay cut that lowers his cap hit 2ish million I could see them keeping Mongo but at his current price he is a cap casualty. On another note, Will Hernandez (who has struggled since a solid rookie season) would be an intriguing depth option. I wouldn’t mind the Bills tossing a low ball one year deal for him to add some depth and competition to the Oline. He has a great physical profile and played well his rookie year. But it just hasn’t clicked since. Hopefully a change of scenery works for him.
  10. From 2017 to 2019 he played every game, he opted out of 2020 due to covid and then got hurt in 2021 only playing about 6 games. Not that tragic of an injury history in terms of missed games. If the Vikings want to trade him for pick 57 and a 5th in 2023 I would be all for it. The Bills would have their elite edge setting DE at a good price and would still have pick 25 to make an impact elsewhere on the roster or trade down.
  11. To me the defense lacks a truly dynamic pass rusher and a run stuffer. I look at the secondary and with Tre in there I think they are very good esp if they retain Levi who has been a solid and consistent cog. They have one of the best most dynamic safety tandems in the league, Tre a true number one corner, one of the most underrated slot corners in the league in T.Johnson, Levi a solid CB2, and Dane Jackson really nice depth. I would like to see them sure up the depth but I feel that can be addressed in round 3-5 as opposed to a high end pick. The LB core is also good. Milano is a true stud and while I know Edumonds gets a lot of hate around here fairly or unfairly I do think he is a solid MLB who fits the mold of the defense. Klein is also solid depth there and can fill in for either. The D-line on the other hand is good but not dynamic. The Bills generated 42 sacks tied for 11th in the league with the Bengals. That's pretty effective but not exactly elite either as the Bills did shoot up the rankings thanks to 9 sacks against the hapless Jets had they only had 2-3 sacks (a respectable number) against the Jets they would have been around 18-19 in the league not tragic but fairly average. Ed Oliver is very good but not a "dynamic" player just yet and the rest of the defensive line is mostly a mishmash of average to above average players. I think the "dynamic" player is going to have to come from within. I don't see (and wouldn't prefer) the Bills to go after a big time pass rusher in free agency as I want the O-line addressed and Levi/H.Phillips resigned and signing that type of pass rusher will impact the ability to do both. Overall the D-line can get a run stuffer which will help along with resigning Phillips. But they need a dynamic edge rusher and for that they have to count on the development of Groot, AJ and Boogie.
  12. I don't see this team getting all these guys but I do like the idea of Corbett, Barrios and Mack on a minimum kick the tires deal. It's a nice list but I don't see Ogbah as realistic and I also don't see Fitz as realistic either as I think he gets top dollar backup money and this team will try again to go with a reclamation project at backup QB similar to Mitch. Hell if Mitch doesn't see a situation he likes I can see him taking another year in Buffalo to keep rehabbing his value.
  13. I don't hate it but that punter is not lasting until the 7th round. BUT I love the Travis Jones pick and a corner high isn't a bad pick. However I would address the O-line higher up and unless there is significant WR investment in free agency or Beasley and Mac are retained I think it is better to go after the secondary in the mid-rounds.
  14. A little pricy but I bet that’s heavy on incentives he is unlikely to reach.
  15. I love the idea of having Bates fight for a spot on the line or moving back to the bench. The Bills need options at guard in case Bates is another Groy situation.
  16. A steal for Pitt, glad to see Flores not getting blackballed
  17. My question is who would that Diggs type move be? I wonder if that "splashy move" would be on the offensive or defensive side of the ball? I fully agree, this is more of a bored off-season type post.
  18. That is shockingly accurate. I would also argue that at least a majority of people on this board do think Mcd is a dam good coach. It is a small but vocal minority that view him as a bad coach.
  19. It's not what's going to happen for sure. Just looking at how the Bills could go "***** it" and make a run for it in 2022. I think the off-season will look similar to this but minus the Larken and DK acquisitions. Mainly I think it will remind me of the 2021 off-season where most acquisitions were retaining the team's own talent and finding upgrades via the draft.
  20. I don't hate this but I think he still is under his 5th year option for 2022 no? I wouldn't hate Tyrod solid game manager with plus ability to make plays with his legs. Might want to rehab his value after not getting a decent shot to start the past few seasons due to injury. You could do worse for a backup.
  21. You would at least be looking at the 25th pick plus next years first and a couple of other picks plus maybe a throw in like Boogie or AJ. I just don't see the Bills doing that for a player coming off of an ACL.
  22. This thread is not to make any what do you think will happen but rather to put together a scenario of how the Bills can put together the best roster in 2022 future be dammed just win now. This isn't necessarily the place for realistic scenarios (although try and keep it within the Bills cap space somewhat) but rather what it would look like if the Bills went "All in" on 2022 and just set it all on the line for one season. Below are my roster moves all based on Spotrac. 1- Restructure everyone eligible outside of Haack, Star and Mongo. This would get the Bills to 26.7 million in cap space. 2- Cut Mongo (Assuming he won't take a pay cut), Haack, Cole Beasley and post June 1st cut Star. This would get the Bills to 41.5 million in cap space. 3- Resign Bates, Levi Wallace, Phillips, T.Jones, Ike (assuming he takes a non-guaranteed deal), and Zimmer. Backloading Phillips and Levi's deal that would take you down to about 25 million in cap space. 4- I would also mull over an Edumonds extension to lower his cap hit a few million as a margin for error in this scenario. This is where things get whacky 1- Trade pick 25 and the 2023 1st round pick for DK Metcalf. The Bills without Cole and Mac in this scenario could use more fire power. Metcalf would allow the Bills to move Diggs to the slot and have another dynamic weapon for Josh. It would cost the Bills in the future but for Seattle the return on DK is solid a late 1st this year and another future 1st in their back pocket allows them flexibility going into a 2023 draft that is more than likely to have better QB's. This scenario opens up if the Seahwaks trade Wilson and go full rebuild. Hard to pass up two firsts and not have to give an extension. Plan B: Keep Beasley or Mac and draft a WR in the first two rounds as depth. 2- Sign Laken Tomlinson. The Bills made a big investment to get DK a WR1a for Josh but the interior line remains a big of an issue still. The Bills have about 22.5 million in cap space and it would take them a nice chunk of what remains to bring in a big time guard to protect Josh and open up the running game. But backloading the deal and forgetting about the future is what this is about and you can probably backload his deal to take a smaller hit up front and maybe take his deal to have an 8.5 million dollar cap hit. This would take the Bills down to about 14 million in cap space. Plan B- Sign another high end guard in free agency 3- Sign Calais Campbell one year 6 million. The Bills burn their last bit of cap space (minus a rookie pool that is lower due to the DK trade) the last area of major concern before the draft is DE. Groot, AJ, and Boogie are the DE's on the roster and that's a lot to expect from unproven players. Campbell would add a nice vet presence to the locker room and add a good proven player to that positional group. 4- Draft Travis Jones in round 2 or another DE/NT. The Bills don't have too much draft impact but in round 2 they can add a bit more to the defensive line hoping to get Travis Jones as a replacement but a DE to add to the mix isn't too bad of a plan B. 5- Draft depth and a punter the rest of the draft. The Bills after adding a player to their D-line have sured up a lot of their roster but could use a punter and some depth/youth in the secondary, LB core, O-line and WR core. Rounds 3-7 should provide a chance to secure some of this depth and put the Bills in position to win the Super Bowl.
  23. i didn't know his wife was a nurse but I can't put this as some sort of character flaw on Stafford because he was so drunk he was of no value to help. It can look bad but when examining the actual circumstances you can't put any blame on Stafford.
  24. In the end if the players execute for the most part any play will be somewhat successful. Yes play calling is important because players won't always execute and you don't want to run directly into the strength of the other team. But fans always go directly to play calling as the blame for most collapses esp on offense. It is just the nature of fandom.
  25. The 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons were all winning seasons while 2015 was a .500 season. That's 6 out of 10 seasons with a .500 or better record and then factoring in the 4 losing seasons none were below 6 wins. You had three 6 win seasons and a 7 win season. While below .500 that's not going to tragically tank your winning percentage either. The McD era has certainly been a fantastic turn around.
