  1. A little pricy but I bet that’s heavy on incentives he is unlikely to reach.
  2. I love the idea of having Bates fight for a spot on the line or moving back to the bench. The Bills need options at guard in case Bates is another Groy situation.
  3. A steal for Pitt, glad to see Flores not getting blackballed
  4. My question is who would that Diggs type move be? I wonder if that "splashy move" would be on the offensive or defensive side of the ball? I fully agree, this is more of a bored off-season type post.
  5. That is shockingly accurate. I would also argue that at least a majority of people on this board do think Mcd is a dam good coach. It is a small but vocal minority that view him as a bad coach.
  6. It's not what's going to happen for sure. Just looking at how the Bills could go "***** it" and make a run for it in 2022. I think the off-season will look similar to this but minus the Larken and DK acquisitions. Mainly I think it will remind me of the 2021 off-season where most acquisitions were retaining the team's own talent and finding upgrades via the draft.
  7. I don't hate this but I think he still is under his 5th year option for 2022 no? I wouldn't hate Tyrod solid game manager with plus ability to make plays with his legs. Might want to rehab his value after not getting a decent shot to start the past few seasons due to injury. You could do worse for a backup.
  8. You would at least be looking at the 25th pick plus next years first and a couple of other picks plus maybe a throw in like Boogie or AJ. I just don't see the Bills doing that for a player coming off of an ACL.
  9. This thread is not to make any what do you think will happen but rather to put together a scenario of how the Bills can put together the best roster in 2022 future be dammed just win now. This isn't necessarily the place for realistic scenarios (although try and keep it within the Bills cap space somewhat) but rather what it would look like if the Bills went "All in" on 2022 and just set it all on the line for one season. Below are my roster moves all based on Spotrac. 1- Restructure everyone eligible outside of Haack, Star and Mongo. This would get the Bills to 26.7 million in cap space. 2- Cut Mongo (Assuming he won't take a pay cut), Haack, Cole Beasley and post June 1st cut Star. This would get the Bills to 41.5 million in cap space. 3- Resign Bates, Levi Wallace, Phillips, T.Jones, Ike (assuming he takes a non-guaranteed deal), and Zimmer. Backloading Phillips and Levi's deal that would take you down to about 25 million in cap space. 4- I would also mull over an Edumonds extension to lower his cap hit a few million as a margin for error in this scenario. This is where things get whacky 1- Trade pick 25 and the 2023 1st round pick for DK Metcalf. The Bills without Cole and Mac in this scenario could use more fire power. Metcalf would allow the Bills to move Diggs to the slot and have another dynamic weapon for Josh. It would cost the Bills in the future but for Seattle the return on DK is solid a late 1st this year and another future 1st in their back pocket allows them flexibility going into a 2023 draft that is more than likely to have better QB's. This scenario opens up if the Seahwaks trade Wilson and go full rebuild. Hard to pass up two firsts and not have to give an extension. Plan B: Keep Beasley or Mac and draft a WR in the first two rounds as depth. 2- Sign Laken Tomlinson. The Bills made a big investment to get DK a WR1a for Josh but the interior line remains a big of an issue still. The Bills have about 22.5 million in cap space and it would take them a nice chunk of what remains to bring in a big time guard to protect Josh and open up the running game. But backloading the deal and forgetting about the future is what this is about and you can probably backload his deal to take a smaller hit up front and maybe take his deal to have an 8.5 million dollar cap hit. This would take the Bills down to about 14 million in cap space. Plan B- Sign another high end guard in free agency 3- Sign Calais Campbell one year 6 million. The Bills burn their last bit of cap space (minus a rookie pool that is lower due to the DK trade) the last area of major concern before the draft is DE. Groot, AJ, and Boogie are the DE's on the roster and that's a lot to expect from unproven players. Campbell would add a nice vet presence to the locker room and add a good proven player to that positional group. 4- Draft Travis Jones in round 2 or another DE/NT. The Bills don't have too much draft impact but in round 2 they can add a bit more to the defensive line hoping to get Travis Jones as a replacement but a DE to add to the mix isn't too bad of a plan B. 5- Draft depth and a punter the rest of the draft. The Bills after adding a player to their D-line have sured up a lot of their roster but could use a punter and some depth/youth in the secondary, LB core, O-line and WR core. Rounds 3-7 should provide a chance to secure some of this depth and put the Bills in position to win the Super Bowl.
  10. i didn't know his wife was a nurse but I can't put this as some sort of character flaw on Stafford because he was so drunk he was of no value to help. It can look bad but when examining the actual circumstances you can't put any blame on Stafford.
  11. In the end if the players execute for the most part any play will be somewhat successful. Yes play calling is important because players won't always execute and you don't want to run directly into the strength of the other team. But fans always go directly to play calling as the blame for most collapses esp on offense. It is just the nature of fandom.
  12. The 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons were all winning seasons while 2015 was a .500 season. That's 6 out of 10 seasons with a .500 or better record and then factoring in the 4 losing seasons none were below 6 wins. You had three 6 win seasons and a 7 win season. While below .500 that's not going to tragically tank your winning percentage either. The McD era has certainly been a fantastic turn around.
  13. I think Williams is a pretty good Oline player esp at RG. I wouldn’t want to completely overhaul the line as Oline is a positional group where continuity matters most. I think Mongo will likely be gone unless he takes a pay cut to put him in line with being a high end back up.
  14. I do also think that the immigrant population of LA cares less for American Football and the fact that both teams in LA are fairly new to the area don’t help matters much. I live not too far from LA and it definitely is a town where football is popular but maybe not the obsession it may be in other cities.
  15. There are simply more entertainment options for Los Angeles than most other markets. Toss in the fact that a lot of people went out to watch the game (it started at 3:30 in LA) and I wouldn't be shocked if that skews the ratings.
  16. He should retire, he played a nice role this season but is clearly not having much left. Better to go out on your terms. Not much else he has left to prove.
  17. I would resign Philips and Zimmer as long as both are reasonable (which they should be). Phillips and Oliver are a nice pair of DT's to start and Zimmer a nice rotational player. I would post June 1st cut Star as I think the 4 million is better spent elsewhere. I would go after a vet free agent to replace Star in the rotation, it's a buyers market go buy. I would then go after a DT in the mid-rounds for depth.
  18. The Bills were the best team in my opinion but the best team doesn't always win the Super Bowl. Been said about many seasons. Luckily I think the Bills front office is approaching this process of winning a championship in a way that is sustainable. They know the one and done format of the playoffs can lead to fluky circumstances so they are best off trying to simply be very good many years in a row and hopefully finally get that deep run. But the Bills need to be more dominant in the regular season in order to clinch a bye again. We saw what the 2 seed did for this team in 2020 in the divisional round and how playing on the road in the divisional round in 2021 was a disadvantage. Having to clinch the best record is a tall task as it is kind of luck based but there is no reason the Bills shouldn't be the 2 seed in the playoffs in 2022.
  19. The Bengals are likely to invest heavily into their O-line in free agency and go O-line with pick 31. Had they lost to the Titans or KC before the Super Bowl that likely still would have happened. If the Bengals can get 2-3 impact starters on their O-line and get a piece or two in their secondary they should be a legit contender out of the AFC again. They got fortunate with turnovers in the divisional round and again got somewhat lucky in the AFCCG with turnovers. Their luck ran out in the Super Bowl and their weaknesses showed. Not sure where the Bengals go but I do expect them to go heavy on the O-line in both the draft and free agency.
  20. Campbell graded out well in various advanced metrics and in the games I watched the Ravens play he was pretty good. That’s my assessment and where it comes from. I think he could still have one more good season in him.
  21. I suspect the Bills will approach the 2022 off-season similar to 2021. I think the bigger moves will be to simply keeping the teams talent (Levi, Phillips, Mac, Bates, Hughes, and Zimmer all come to mind as likely resignings) and then make a mid level acquisition to bolster a spot on the team (similar to Sanders last off-season). The Bills will then supplement the roster further via the draft. Cap wise I don’t think they will have the money for both Miller and Campbell but bringing in Campbell seems promising maybe a one year 7ish million dollar deal?
  22. Serious question. Was there ever an era or year where you thought officiating by the NFL was good?
  23. Donald is a HOF player with every single accolade you can imagine for a defensive player now including a ring. At 30 he I had nothing left to prove. I wouldn’t be shocked if this is more of a Gronk situation where he takes a year off as opposed to fully retires. And yes I know Gronk retired to avoid a trade to the Lions but Gronk also had injury troubles he needed to rest up too. I think Donald comes back for one more season at the very least to defend the title but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him retire in a year or two.
  24. I think it will be more of an outlier. The Rams got extremely luckily OBJ fell into their laps or else the Robert Woods injury would have tanked their season. The Rams undertook great risk and got rewarded greatly. But they also got extremely lucky. They got lucky to have a fairly weak AFC opponent and avoided the Packers away in the NFCCG. You always need luck in some ways but in the end you also have to look at how a method can be duplicated and it is not likely teams will see this as easily duplicated.
  25. The game was good not great, that being said the extra game needs to be accompanied by an extra bye week. Also gut the Thursday games or only have Thursday games played when both teams had a bye week. Just some suggestions while we are trying to fix football/the NFL.
