so when he has someone on staff telling him their perceived odds of a successful challenge and that individual gets it wrong it's McD's fault. When he decides that he wants a quick view himself when nobody had time to look at film he is a fool? Do you expect him to just guess if a replay is likely to succeed? Flip a coin? What method would you suggest using if looking at it is so dumb? Challenges are not about right/wrong. Replay assist is supposed to take care of clearly overturned calls. Coach's challenges are always on the debatable 50/50 calls due to having the burden of proof on overturning it. Replay review on some of these calls sometimes takes several minutes of looking at every camera angle at various play speeds and freeze frames. NFL teams in the booth get access to the replay assist views, and typically have less than 40 seconds to make a judgement call on the likelihood of a challenge being successful. If they are lucky they may have time to take a glance at 3 or 4 angles and make a snap judgement on what they see. When the other team is running to the line you may have as little as 15 seconds to collect data and provide feedback to the coach. In this case, it sounds like the replay team didn't have time to see a conclusive angle in that short window and McD couldn't see the in stadium view either leading to a couple of seconds to take a guess. If you're going to gamble on a low probability or un-informed challenge, a meaningless play on the first drive of the game is not the place to do it. Without sufficient information to determine if the challenge was likely to succeed I'm glad that he is not wasting challenges or timeouts on plays unlikely to be game altering in the first couple of minutes. If he did challenge, I'm not positive it gets overturned. His hand was under the ball when he came down. While the ball definitely moved, I didn't see a clear angle that showed it touching the ground without him having control. I don't think it was a catch, but the ruling on the field very well may have stood.

Because it was a targeted (see Jewish) attack. The general public should be fine.

but also that flag should come out 100% even if visiting team issues they are going to rush to the line. You don’t get 40 seconds to analyze a reply. You just have to trust that it’s a big win or small loss

I’m pretty sure, even Brady- as a commentator, would absolutely have mentioned it.As would have Romo. I’ve seen both call out FUBARs simultaneously to the play ending. And then the refs reviewed what they said and changed their minds. Baker Mayfield being called out…late… for Intentional Grounding comes to mind. When this obvious Home Cooking Gillette call comes up, a COMPETENT Ref would have called Time, pulled out a Stopwatch and watched from the real time snap, to see whether the Pats got a Patsy! They sure as ***** did!

I agree this incident needs to be revisited. A lot of weird anomalies associated with it. -
They say watching hockey, you don't really pay attention to the puck, you pay attention to the actions of the players and that will tell you where the puck is. This should be a similar thing. When the other team is acting like they know the reception wasn't made, running up to the line and trying to get a play off, especially with it being: 1) a huge gain 2) on a 3rd down which would be a stop 3) early in the first quarter That should be a no-brainer to throw the challenge without needing it confirmed by your people in the skybox.

That makes me nervous too You absolutely cannot open up in the AFC championship game as a hypothetical down 21-0 Complete disaster Especially on the road -

What is absolutely hysterical to me is that of the 3 coaches you mentioned.... McDermott has beaten all 3. 2 of which this year alone. The last line says it all. Doesn't matter what happens, anything good is due to Josh. Anything bad is on Coach. That's your line in the sand and it's extremely biased. And no, I don't care about the few obligatory polite lines you put in about McDermott. Finishing those up the the "but" at the end shows how phony that is -

I agree here. I’d have to look at it specifically but I’m sure it has something to do schematically that they are doing differently -
Vrabel is whining about the refs I guess he forgot the TD that was wiped out due to a Torrence hold?

I didn't know he did a movie loosely based on his son's experience with addiction, rehab and homelessness.

Are you aware of the current NBA betting scandal? We're talking about guys who made over $100 million in their careers throwing games. -

When McDermott saw the pats rushing up to run the next play, that in and of itself means you should challenge it. Especially being in the 1st half where you can steal a possession because it was 3rd dwn I also hated how conservative he was at the end of the 1st half with the timeouts He sucks thinking on his feet... But everyone already knows this and I'm tired of talking about it Allen and the offense are going to have to be excellent in the playoffs. It is what it is -
I was on the phone with my parents midway through the second quarter and went on a rant excoriating everyone and everything associated with the Bills and this season that I could. I'm sure I was quite insufferable. The end of the half TD and the second half results were all but guaranteed at that point. For context, when I lived in the Buffalo area a friend that I used to go to Sabres games with pointed out to me that when I went off on a player to start a game they typically had a good game. I believe we were at a Tux and Pucks New Years game when Zhitnick, who had been playing horribly, had a give away and I just went off. He finished the game with 2 goals and an assist, I think, and notably he didn't put a puck in any of his teammates ear holes when they were standing in front of the net. My friend then proceeded to provide a list of other examples when that was the case. So, you can thank my parents for taking one for the team... I'm sure it wasn't a pleasant addition to their game watching experience.

Say what you will about McDermott, but during his tenure he has provided blueprints to beat juggernauts every year. He just showed the league, and more importantly the AFC how to confuse Maye by rolling through defensive secondary looks. Maye couldn't really do damage in the second half. -
Why do we have to have posts like this after perhaps the best comeback since 1993? Not many coaches could keep a team together like that to win a game, but he still sucks? Another Seinfeld moment-- "people, they're the worst."

It's not a given that's for sure. No doubt it deserved a challenge though.

It was DPI. Jones turned his head around after interfering with Shakir.

I agree here. The Bills made major adjustments and Vrabl and staff had no clue how to stop us. They had one large play that would have been a loss if not for the running back making a great adjustment. They had almost zero offense and few answers on D.
