You seem to still have a high opinion of McDermott. I like him, but I am not sold on his scheme. Is it fundamentally a scheme problem (outdated and figured out) or personnel? I'd like to see larger DTs and bigger LBs, but that won't happen in this scheme. Evidently the decision has been made to sacrifice stopping the run to supposedly stop the pass, but you can't have teams consistently gashing you for very long runs.

Yep... he sucks. That is slightly harsh on him but he sucks as a read and react linebacker. He hits the wrong gap well over 50% of the time in thr run game. If you could carve out a niche for him to just run and hit his physical skill set is there to see. Unfortunately you need the rest of the guys around him to be playing better for that to be an option and I don't see it right now. He struggles mentally with processing.

I think we have at least a 50% shot of getting the 1 seed now. That will probably determine if we can get a title this year. The league is pretty mid, but it would obviously be much harder to make a run as a WC.

Is Milano just rusty or maybe just doesn’t have confidence because of his injuries? He looks very slow. Very noticeable. He started coming on last year after a few games.

The guy can play, no doubt. When healthy, he's been an impact edge. This season, he has been impactful at times, and kind of average overall. Been exploited more often than a vet guy like him should have been, imho, but also showed serious flashes when Oliver and/or Hoecht were on the field. Decent QB hits and FFs and TFLs so far. I like the player on the field. Might do more freelancing than our scheme allows for, the more I think about it...

I would put them somewhere between fifth and tenth overall for likelihood of winning the Super Bowl. The only thing that makes me have some optimism is that most of the other teams in the AFC also have flaws and have looked flat at times. Barring no more injuries, they may be able to get by at WR with the additions of Davis and Hardman, but I feel like not adding defensive help at the trade deadline could come back to bite us. The defense was not good enough today and was lucky thate Allen had one of the better games in his career.

Ya it was an interesting matchup today as it was strength on strength (our ends vs their tackles) and weakness on weakness. (Their backup guards against our backup DTs) Bucs definitely won both those battles as they really controlled the line of scrimmage

I couldn't disagree with this more. 300 years from now they'll have all the audio, video, and literature documentation of 20th century music and beyond. *Much*, much more than we have of musicians from 300 years past. Perhaps only the vast majority of casual music listeners or people who don't really listen to music will know of only those acts. But I'd venture to say the contributions of many more musicians than just those will be known by far more people than you think. And especially historians.

That was a bit of an issue today, but that's the first time since Sean took over playcalling. They have been a LOT better on 3rd down against the Panthers, Chiefs and Dolphins. It's been down like 20 percentage points. Maybe on Fox, but he has a 31 year old who has been a starter one season in his entire career. He isn't in the same ballpark talent wise. I agree losing Hoecht shouldn't hurt this much but we are where we are talent wise. I know you will disagree but I don't think the nickel is the problem and they have mixed man and zone pretty well this year. I just think they look old and washed up in too many spots.

One guy who doesn’t deserve a game ball is Samuel. Yes he made the catch that was didn’t need to be so hard but what was he doing on the deep out? Just turn the jets on and blow past the LBer. He kept jogging and looking back at Josh the whole time and Josh “overthrows” him because of it. I’d be putting Moore in over Samuel. I don’t understand why he’s activated

I think the guy Fox they signed this week has a little 55 in him. But at the end of the day I just want the defense fixed. Replacing a strange 1 off skill set can’t make or break you. Get the guys off the field that have been killing us. Get out of the constant nickel and come off the zone. The rest of the league knows exactly what we are going to do. Change that

And I think here "break" was being used to mean like "complete" break, whereas fracture was suggesting something more like a crack that doesn't go all the way through. I think. (Like a "hairline" fracture, or "stress" fracture, maybe?) Then again, "compound" fractures are definitely a thing and those go ALL THE WAY THROUGH, and out, yikes.
