Have you ever had to call 911 for anything?
Draconator replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
I called 911 when I was with my ex. She was breaking out in a rash from her work as a gardener, so she went and took a shower. She said she was going out to the car for something. About 20 minutes later, she said she hasn't moved from her computer chair. I got up, and saw she was white as a ghost. I said I was calling 911 much to her objections. We agreed that I would tell 911 not to have the ambulance put on any lights or sirens when they pulled up. The paramedics came in, and they couldn't get a pulse on her. So they rushed her to the ambulance, and you bet the lights and sirens were on when they rushed her to the ER. Turns out she ate some Planters peanuts, and she had an undiagnosed peanut allergy and was in full anaphylactic shock. The doctors told me once she was stable that if we had waited another 10 minutes, she would have died. -
I had to call when I heard a crash outside my front door once. A car was going too fast in front of the house where a small island divided the curvy road. It should be about 15 mph to be safe on that stretch in this residential area, but a teenage boy was going much faster. His front right tire went up a berm and his right headlight hit a palm tree. This flipped the car over and it skidded across the road and came to rest, upside down, on the mailbox of the people across the street. I got outside as the babysitter comes out with the portable phone to call the homeowners. The kid crawls out of the car window, takes the phone away from the babysitter and calls his mother. The first words I hear are āMom, I did it again!ā š³ Really??? I noticed the front passenger window was open (on the upside down car) on a chilly night. That wasnāt right, so I pieced it together. He was driving along the tricky stretch when he lowered the passenger window to toss a couple empty Budweiser bottles into my front yard. THAT is when he hit the berm and flipped. I didnāt rat him out when the cops arrived (I was slow to put it together), but part of me worries that he needed to face the music lest he do it yet again, and maybe somebody gets hurt.

Tom Brady was the best in his prime. Because heās the GOAT. GOAT stands for āGreatest Of All Time.ā

Thereās an argument to do none of those things, but to me, paying Cook trumps at least 80% of those other moves. I donāt mind saying paying RBs is risky business, but it would hardly be a bigger risk or waste than some of those other contracts.
-
He worked hard and had the "it" factor. Just like Derek jeter
-
Yep. $14-17M for Knox to be backup TE $9M/yr on Palmer who has done nothing $8M for Samuel to be WR4 role player $7M for Hoecht to sit out suspended $7M for Ogunjobi to do the same... But we cant pay Cook, our most productive Offensive player outside of the league MVP, our only player besides Josh listed in the NFL Top 100 because... "he's a RB" Crazy.
-
Thats the quadry right... you have a RB who had 1 excellent season... he finished 1st (tied) for TDs 16th in Rushing Yards 18th in rush yards per game 8th in ypcarry 22nd in first downs 30 ish in recieving yards 26th in total yards from scrimmage 16th in 20+ runs He wants paid like a top 3 RB at 17 mm or whatever... I wonder if he signs with the Cardinals or the Jets, Patriots, Saints, Cowboys, Bears, Giants, Packers, Steelers, Browns, etc... if he is number 1 in TDs again... or was that production a function of the an offense that moved the ball at will... Just looking at stats... you see where there is a quandry behind wanting to groom and keep your own and investing 17mm plus into this player... I dont know if he should or shouldnt do it... but in he end he cant let this tear the team up... I suspect he is likely to cut bait here unless the contract is substantially less than 17mm...

Can't make the club from the tub

Honestly, I think the only two "real" injuries are Hairston and Shakir.......the rest would probably be playing if this was the regular season. The Bills are planning on playing well into January and hopefully February this year......it's a marathon, not a sprint. I want guys healthy then, not gutting it out in training camp even with a minor injury in August.

You just quoted yourself.

You are not having the same discussion. The debate is not who was the GOAT - I verbatim said its Brady, and I agree, its not a debate. The question here is, in their prime, who was the actual best QB to stand on an NFL field on any given Sunday. Take away the longer career and therefore longer resume, just 2 guys in their prime - who would be the best QB on that field. And no disrespect, that is where you don't have the insight to weigh in on that as you didn't watch Montana play. I watched every game he played practically - My dad had 3 loves in his life - His kids first. Niners 2nd. TV show "Dallas" 3rd. Wife - somewhere down the list lol. When the Niners or the TV Show "Dallas" were on, you could only ask him yes or no questions during commercial breaks. I watched just about every Niners game Joe ever played and I can tell you that it is NOT certain that Brady was actually better than Joe was in their respective primes. Brady is the GOAT without question - But who would be the best QB in a head to head battle in their primes is very much open for debate. See my reply to Gunner - you are having the wrong debate. Not debating Brady whether Brady is the GOAT, he is, and said so in every post. The question is who was actually the best QB in their primes. And I am not saying its even for sure Montana, I am simply saying is a valid question and debate.

There's nothing more important in a career than availability. If a player cannot offer that, he's unfortunately not useful. Hope for the best here.
-
He seems like always play well when given the opportunityā¦guy just canāt stay on the field despite limited playtime. As a backup the most important thing you can do is be healthy when needed.
-
His pink slip is already written with arrival of Shaq Thompson
-
I think they may let McGovern walk. He will be expensive, and the Bills love their young o-line depth, with good reason.
-
Good, he sucks. I don't even think he's a Bills fan. Just some jackoff trying to capitalize on their success.
-
The dude has made a living off being injured
-
Exactly. And can you pay Moore and Cook and a draft pick rather than Moore and Samuel and Palmer and not Cook? Cook has an elite ceiling in his specific role. We need to keep those sorts of players rather than collecting a bunch of mids

Two thoughts on the crazy amount of injuries 1. I wonder if the bills are being overly cautious with all the cameras around the team especially after the benford passing concussion protocol so quickly in the playoffs last season 2. Would be curious if injuries and rehab are off limits to hard knocks cameras unless specifically given the ok by the player thus creating some private non filmed mic'd up time -
I had the years of the 2nd and 4th round picks in the trade reversed. James Cook for Michael Parsons

Have you ever had to call 911 for anything?
The Jokeman replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
It was winter and these homeless guy was outside and you could see he needed to get somewhere arm I called 911 to help him out. The dispatcher was like it might take a few hours to get to him etc. Kind of sad really. I've been called by police officers responding to 911 calls for my parents (they're now both in assisted living) but prior it was a real fiasco. Last one I recall was mom locked herself in the bathroom and instead of pressing the life alert button at side of bathtub she opened window and screamed for the neighbors to call 911 to get her out. Needless to say that was step that lead to her getting to assisted living.
