The Bills need to win the division for him to have a chance, I think. To win the division, that would mean he played very well along the way, I would think. Maye is in the conversation because he has played well and his team has an 11-2 record. Without winning the division, Maye is out of the race. The Pats are still in the driver's seat for the division as it stands now though. I could see Stafford losing out if the Rams don't win their division. May well come down to QB on the team with the best record.

Thanks. The reason I think he's making bets is based mostly on the Elam pick and what followed. If I recall correctly, the scouting reports said his potential was as a great cover guy and that his tackling was a bit weak. When the Bills drafted him, it said to me that they believed they could make him into the kind of corner McDermott wants - a guy who runs the system flawlessly, with a lot of zone and a lot of tackling responsibility. That is, they were hoping they could develop his other skills and then have the benefit of his good one-on-one skills. Or, in other words, they took a guy who wasn't a good natural fit but who looked to Beane like he could be developed into a great fit. It's interesting to me that Beane essentially flipped the script in that draft. He made a bet on Elam when he should have taken the the guy who looked like the most sure-fire, long-term starter. He needed to be sure he was getting a starter. And then in the fifth round, when he should be willing to bet on a guy, he took Benford. NFL.com's draft profile said things about Benford like good football IQ, impressive talent for reading routes in space, willing tackler. Those skills are the skills that Beane HOPED McDermott could bring out in Elam. In fact, what happened was that almost from day one they realized they didn't need to teach Benford much of any of those things. Then I look at Kincaid and Coleman, and I see two guys who projected to be good and who might be great if they became something more than they were. In other words, they look like bets to me. Kincaid is still an open question, I suppose, but it seems pretty clear that this roster would be considerably stronger is Beane had taken solid starters instead of Elam and Coleman.

They’d give it to Stafford over Allen for ‘lifetime achievement’/voter fatigue reasons unless Josh has significantly better stats than Stafford even if he wins the division. the bills winning this pats game would probably spoil maye’s case against Stafford but it would still take a ton for Josh to jump Stafford. He might get some votes though

Dawkins doesn't false start against houston and you can't say you don't like their chances in that one. The NE game was there, even with 3 turnovers they had the ball near the RZ on 1st down down 3 points and under 3 in the game. Then there's some of NE's finishes: Miami has the ball on the NE 26 with 1:09 left down 6. They get a false start, and delay of game to push them back to the 36 and turn it over on downs. Atlanta had the ball on the NE 48 down 1 with 2:13 in the game and ran 3 pass plays and punted with 2 timeouts. Disaster sequence.

If the Bills continue to look clunky, and lose to NE/Philly, it's over, he won't be close.

If the Bills beat the Patriots, Maye will be out of the conversation and it will be between Stafford, Love, and Allen. Allen has no shot, though, unless he keeps playing with his hair on fire like he did last week (which is very possible), and the Bills overtake the Pats for the division. No way are they going to give the MVP to a player on a team that is 2nd place in their division. So, I think it will go to Stafford unless they do poorly the last few weeks.

Jackson isn't a top QB. On paper he gets there and he does play well but the illusion is wearing thin. Mahomes is doing all he can with no one on offense and a mid OL. He's still top 8... Maybe 10 Burrow is as elite as ever but his availability is not right QB's don't face each other disirregardless.
