By the numbers Groot has had a very good season, his game log stats aren't eye-popping but he's a very effective overall player. In the trenches, only elite pass rushers ever really have eye-popping stats.

Well, we'll see.

Yeah, there is indeed every chance we get to a Super Bowl. We missed it last year by one mis-aimed Allen pass that was then dropped. Every chance. But no, you're not being generous. Fairly pessimistic would be more realistic. This team has been wildly successful. KC has been better in the playoffs, unfortunately, but this team has been competititve for a title from the third year of the rebuild. Did he make some mistakes on guys, including some you pointed out? Yeah. But the Von Miller contract was risky but smart. If he hadn't gotten injured that team looked like a world champion that year. Certainly he made mistakes. The list of GMs that haven't made mistakes is not a long one. There's no names on that list.

Something else to at least bear in mind when considering BTJ is that in 2024 he was basically force fed targets because he was really all they had. He was their featured receiver. Now they have more talent at the position and they have therefore asked him to do more, to develop and diversify his routes like a true #1. He has so far failed to do that. Could it be that if he is not featured quite the way he would like he loses interest? Remember Diggs? BTJ has all the ability in the world. He has proven that he can run great routes. He has great footwork at the line and can easily beat press man coverage. Steve Smith says he has more natural ability than Malik Nabers if you can believe that. The difference according to Smith is that Nabers is a dog and BTJ is not. He may wind up a bit more of a role player and high end #2. -
Why would we when we have Shavers.

Best wishes to all the posters who are attending the game today, there seems to a lot of Buffalo fans out there! I think we will again have a slow start, it will be close at half time and then we manage to hold off the Panthers and win by a score. Obviously I am wishing for something like a Panthers 17 Bills 38 scorecard at the end but any win will suffice. Lets go Buffalo! -
Brown was thrown a lot of longer passes. Guys getting larger percentage of longer passes tend to get pass catching rates that are lower. I'm not arguing how good he was after he left the Bills. I didn't watch. I don't care. The stuff that was "indicative of a guy who could demonstrate success at all routes" is simply that while on the Bills he demonstrated success in a wide variety of routes at all levels. Sanders did indeed put up good numbers. Yeah, he looked good here, and he did leave the league after putting up that good season. Not sure why that is important. The point is that Beane brought him in and he performed well. 46th in yards, in a 14-way tie for 47th place in TDs, 43rd in Y/R. That's absolutely not a #3. Manny Sands was a #2 for us.

To be fair, if it was my $7 billion dollar toy, I would probably just run it the way that made the most sense to me. I don't fault Pegula. I am not sure Beane is complacent. He may just not be the highly competent wizard some fans expect him to be. Truth be told, given the state off the team, it is highly plausible Beane's decision making is being driven by the impact on 2026 and beyond, and not 2025. Also, we have a history of not really using the players we acquire in mid-season. Beane probably has little control over that, so his thinking could be "why trade for B. Thomas to sit on the bench".

Im not expecting this at all. Its going to be a close game- Carolina is playing well, undefeated at home. Dalton or Young, both have their faults- but their run game is very good and their defense is fast. Horn is a true lock down #1 corner, hes going to limit one side of the field. And with Kincaid likely out and Palmer, let's see what Brady can design. I think we win, but thinking 27-20. -

This season goes nowhere until we start stopping people. It’s going to start with the run but the pass defense hasn’t been good either. This is it. The excuses are gone. The horses aren’t coming anymore. They are here. Let’s go. Figure out how to stop the run. Figure out how to tackle. Figure out how to get to the QB and figure out how to get off the field on 3rd down. You do not win important games in the nfl without playing defense. You can’t just expect to score 48 every week and win. Unless you are under 10 years old, you should realize that defense is how you win sustainably in every sport. It’s shown and proven year after year and yet we waste so much time talking about WR. The chiefs have a top 3 defense in football…. That’s why we can’t beat them. When it matters, They stop us and we never can. Fix the defense today or start firing coaches. We have to stop wasting years with Josh. All the guys are back now. Scheme it correctly for a change. Go bills! -
So a 2nd round pick starting in his 2nd year is a complete failure, got it. Not even lying, I LOVE the irrational reactions people have on here

Go Bills !! Is Kincaid out ? -
Chris Brown mentioned that in the discussion about maybe the Bills are purposefully playing ball control offense to take pressure off the D and I totally agree. I still wonder if that's why we played so bad against Atlanta; the offensive players are getting tired of it. Cosell made a point that willfully always playing ball control close games gets mentally exhausting. At this point I feel like not playing more vertically is emboldening defenses. As Cosell mentioned, even if you don't have the receiver talent, you still have to show it. Plus Allen is so good at placing a ball that alone may allow some vertical success.

Forcing Turnovers is the missing ingredient in this Defense
BeastMaster replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, my goodness Every team that's struggling can say their missing ingredient is forcing turnovers I'd say a third of it is luck, another third is scheme and talent, and the last third is simply luck You're better off relying on trying not to turn over the ball instead of taking it away cause that's more within your control -

Yeah , but who covers for poyers lack of speed while he’s teaching bishop? It’s a ridiculous premise , bringing back players you cut two years ago for declining play and now suddenly they are answers for the starting lineup? It’s laughable , it’s a lack of vision by Beane and it’s his worst moves as the gm so far forced by his inability to draft well enough to have young talent developing. No other franchise is operating like this. . If your draft picks are all injured and not adding much outside of one pick , then you are failing and your priorities need adjusting. It’s the 9 th year of the process which has not reached a SB, let alone win one , and there are other teams progressing now like the pats, broncos , colts , while the chiefs are looking like their consistent afc championship form. Bills d is the worst by far against the run and SB teams usually run well and stop the run well. This has the warning signs of another failed year , and Allen’s career is going by rapidly. He is pressing and not processing well as he can’t trust the wr corps. Holding on to this coaching regime next year is just accepting the status quo by fearing change. Pegula has not proven he can manage to produce championship caliber franchises, and he appears to lack true sports knowledge . Carolina goes in today undefeated at home on a 3 game wining streak while the Bills come in losing two in a row , ranked 31 st in the nfl against the run. If they lose today , the wheels are falling off and KC will prove just how lacking the Bills are next weeek. Beane should be held accountable, yet imo it won’t happen.

Turnovers are things you hope for, and hope is not a strategy. -
I want him to be great. I hope he’s amazing today. But right now he runs a Brock Purdy game manager Offense that is extremely predictable. That won’t cut it when it matters unless our Defense gets a lot better.

A lot of interesting things to look out for today: - Who gets the majority of Rapp's playing time? - Will Hairston actually get the start, or will they ease him into it? - How will the PED twins look? - Walker has been on a tear, will it continue? -
Yeah, I follow the Browns and at this point have no confidence he knows how to develop ANY quarterback, let alone Mayfield. Definitely feels jaded against Shadeur for whatever reason and has limited Gabriel to half field reads and shorter throws. We'll see, open to changing my mind.
