I’m with Joe Marino! Ive wanted them to go after DeBoer since the minute he was fired. He’d be the best coach the Sabres have had in a long time. It would definitely be a dream hire for me at this moment in time. I wouldn’t call Shanahan or Jarmo “dream hires”, but of the available current options they both seem like the best we could do. Jarmo is already in the organization so Pegula may have some comfort there. Shanahan has reportedly even let the Sabres know he’d be interested in a team president job. I read that DeBoer would be open to Buffalo as well and that he’s dying to get back behind a bench. It would definitely bring instant credibility to the organization. Unfortunately, I don’t see it as very likely. I could maybe see Jarmo getting the GM job but I don’t see Pegula hiring a team president and I don’t see him paying the money it would take to hire DeBoer.

I didn't like the pick either but he did flash at times last year so it gave me some semblance of hope. One and a half seasons is to early to declare this guy a bust. If he still looks like dog doo doo after year three then its probably not likely to happen. Sounds like he's got some growing up to do. Hopefully there's something there and this crap season motivates him on to bigger and better things. I'm not ready to give up on the guy just yet.

I hadn't seen the character concerns scouting report, but I remember at his first press conference all the reporters thought he was hilarious, but I just saw an immature kid. And he’s not winning in the court of public opinion. Over 60% of Americans believe R’s are to blame. It’s that 37% core MAGAs that don’t. We’re back down to the base which is very encouraging.

One thing that stands out about the injury report, is who isn't on it. None of the TEs are on it. Reggie isn't on it. Cook says he's good to go. None of the OLmen are on it. This is going to be a game where the OL, TEs, Reggie and James set the tone. The Bills are running 12, 13, and 22 personnel a lot. Going to be a lot of running, but there will be some passes too. Defenses are getting caught with their pants down when the Bills pass, for instance, out of 13 personnel. You have 3 TEs on the field it seems obvious that it's going to be a run. The Bills are passing out of that and making big plays down the field! Now defenses can't decide presnap whether it's run or pass. By the time they figure it out, it's often too late. And with our OL, even if they do figure it out, they still can't stop it. The Bills are probably the best team in the league at OL blocking. Only thing about this game that worries me is how well the defense performs. That's where the vast majority of the injuries are. However, I'm really encouraged by the speed we now have on the back end. Those guys are making plays back there.

THE OHIO STATE

Great discussion I am late for! The thing for me is creativity in the playoffs on both sides of the ball and in the big games. Josh, to me, purposefully seems to avoid his scramble runs at this point. There have been multiple plays I see on TV where he's got space to run but he holds longer to throw the pass. I do wonder and hope that we will become more diverse and creative in the playoffs. Like Josh scrambling more for yardage, or hitting more of those deeper midrange throws. Plays are there downfield but we seem locked into this short yardage balanced attack with a few mid-range throws. I'm willing to be patient and see if things change when the games really count. I do wonder how much Brady is hemmed in by McDermott's risk averse edicts? Babich certainly was and arguably Leslie Frazier. McDermott had to step in both times and the defense immediately became more creative.
