I think the Bills can beat any team in the NFL this year. But I also think they can lose to any team in the NFL this year. If they come out with the right gameplan and they are clicking, they can contend. Their inconsistency this year has been the issue and gives me pause on thinking they can do much in the playoffs (assuming they hold serve and make it in).

Game week thread - Bills at Steelers

Except, Patrick, what if Hoecht and Oliver had remained healthy? Meanwhile, Bosa has played the last couple of games one-handed. I won't even count Jackson since he hadn't shown much prior to his injury. I have a lot of problems with personnel decisions that Bean has made, but I give him credit for TRYING to fortify the DL in the off-season. -
Probabily true, but, I don't see that in the cards.
-
I truly hope you’re right! But I been waiting since week 5 for the Pats to lose a game.. and they keep finding ways and do just enough to win.

Can we get to a point where we enter the postseason only down Oliver and Hoecht of note? Everyone else can/should come back this season. Keeping anyone healthy seems impossible on this team, but getting guys back and ready for the playoffs, even at 80-90%, should be the goal. Everyone who is playing is banged up this time of year. It is what it is. I think it was last year or two years ago, Maxx Crosby was a terror down the stretch in meaningless games. Day after the season ends, gets surgery. Biggest issue, aside from just getting there, is developing any continuity down the stretch when we have the most fragile team I’ve ever witnessed. I just want to see this team in the playoffs, for once, without massive injury excuses. And if they can right the injury ship, only down Oliver and Hoecht, given all the other investments on defense, that is not an excuse in my book. Get your Pick #40 actual inside reps. Rest Bosa if you have to, get him healthy. Plant Bernard on the bench until he’s healed up. Sit Spencer Brown until the playoffs to get that shoulder as healed up as possible. See what Coleman can do in the slot over this mini-bye by giving him reps so we can rest Shakir some, who’s clearly hobbled. Theres no point in making the playoffs if you’re going to destroy your players to do so.

The Rams are the only team that I feel is a tier above anyone else. And obviously we wouldn't see them until February. But man it just feels wide a$$ open this year and we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot. Horrible first half defense. No adjustments offensively within a game. And just it kind of feels like no heart. I really think this team has a run in them with the AFC being more open. It's just a matter of if we make some clear changes

Shaq Lawson on the way (now reportedly signed to practice squad)

I bet Aaron Schobel still has some juice left -
i'd say this or the Jets on SNF.

fair take but this place needs a giant douching because it used to be one of the most knowledgeable and informative sites for collaborative headlines on the internet from both sides of the aisle and all corners of the world. that i miss that is something i won't back down from. drive by posters were disposed of by self moderation, trolls were ignored, and Darin ran this place like a military branch.

I’m looking at Denver and Minneapolis as places I’ve never seen a game but would love to. I’ll have to wait for the dates to come out, because even with a dome Minneapolis can be brutal in the winter. It was the site of the only Super Bowl I’ve attended, but their new(ish) stadium is something I’d like to experience. I don’t love the overseas games, but if it gives me an excuse to see a great city, that will be on the table as well. I’m sure Vegas and Miami will look attractive to folks in WNY looking for a break in the cold.

Just went on the Steelers message board and a Bills fan posted a thread about how the Bills suck and the Steelers will crush them. Except the Steeler fans think the same about Steelers. The whole thread is.... We suck, No, we suck, We suck worse.... Both coaches suck, and our OC sucks worse. Pretty comical. https://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/bills-week-bills-fan-here-we-suck.35680/

i think the only place we should feel confident about missing starters is the OL. Spencer Brown being out stinks but that's the only place I am not sweating over. Linebacker I do not sweat over anymore because one of them is always dinged up and out. Missing corners and WR's is a real problem for us and will continue to be a problem.

Wildcards can and do catch fire come January. Brady's Bucs were 7-5, losers of 3 of 4, and got blown out 38-3 at home by New Orleans before going on their run. Helped playing a 7-9 division winner with a backup QB in the first round, but that's the kind of thing that happens in the NFL. A Nix/Jones/Maye injury and suddenly the favorites aren't so favorite. Just going through their playoff run and its so strange... Washington - Heinicke in the playoffs - played the best game of his life with no run game and got them pretty close. TB was a 10 point favorite though and Washington kind of sucked New Orleans revenge game - 21 points off turnovers, and lived off some short fields. Packers - The scotty miller TD comes to mind as the difference in a 5 point game. Ball at midfield with :28 left in the half and somehow they get a 40 yard TD pass with 8 seconds left in the half. Another short field turnover/TD to open the 3rd quarter and it was 28-10. Brady threw 2 picks in the 4th quarter and GB made the strange decision to kick a FG down 8 from the 8 yard line. They never touched the ball again. Chiefs SB - Pretty terrible first half by KC but its still 14-6 with 1 minute in the half, and KC gets 50 yards of PI penalties on the drive to go into half down 21-6. Which essentially screwed what was left of their gameplan.

Come on, Boyst. While there are a precious few apparently knowledgeable football folks on the main board, it's really a compilation of spleen jokes, pegula plane sightings, tempo, and we're going to win it all or the sky is falling posts. Even the people that seem to offer insight are spitballing from a perspective completely unlike that which McD and Beane deal with. In other words, it's mostly a bunch of posters posting about things they really don't know much about. Oh, and the occasionally grumpy moderator trying to herd cats. Now, that said, it's a great board and a place for people to shoot the ****. One of my favorite elements is when someone drops a good one liner in an otherwise serious conversation. If people want to do that here...so? Let's put away the yearbook for the good old days, let people live and let live.

Interesting then that Hoecht was someone that Beane went out of his way to get and pay and that Fox was an Atlanta Falcon August 2025 cut. Obviously I want Fox to play well for us, let us see what he can do.

Pitt - Loss Cincy- Loss NE- Loss Browns - Win Eagles - Loss Jets - Win 9-8 Nice way to finish up at Highmark with no playoffs.

Greg Rousseau has turned out to be a complete slug.

I could see him transitioning later in his career like Aaron Schobel did and becoming even more of a power rusher. -
The offense isn't far at all. It was something they could've and should've addressed this offseason with WR but captain yahoo mouthed off instead and now is paying for it. The defense is much harder to say how far they are or aren't as the injuries make it hard to evaluate completely all the good and bad. The defensive line specifically at end still is leaky at best and their LB corp is behind what the best teams are using at LB. They need a lot more then a simple revision at those areas whereas the secondary I am fine with saying add a safety to go with Bishop + a guy at NCB and I feel really good where it looks. But the scheme itself needs an overhaul and a new DC so the amount of changes on the defensive side feels more pronounced in general.
