Why take on the challenge of change when you're getting $10M per year to keep doing the same old thing. I'm always wary of leaders that think their "process" is king. Keep following the process until it actually works so you can satisfy your own ego. Sadly McDermott hasn't been a bad leader through this tenure, he's just stubborn and stuck on following his own mantra while the league continues to roll on. He can't or won't adapt. If he doesn't have the players to fit his system to a T, he keeps pushing and hoping it'll all click at some point e point. He should have learned that even if he gets the "right" players, injuries can impact the course of the season drastically. New crew, same tired old plans.

@Another Fan @Gugny As soon as I heard about this my first thought was OK, what's next. On the surface it was a head scratcher. Not so much because it's a bad swap - there was a tradeoff wrt to age/contract as well as offense/defense - just that it feels like a precursor to other moves. They created a hole in left and the obvious front runners are Bellinger and Tucker. They valued defense over offense but added to a crowded infield logjam. The fact that they chose defense over offense makes me think Vientos may be the odd man out. It also feels likely they'll try to package some of the youngsters for Skubal. As for Nimmo, I'm sad to see him go. Solid but unspectacular player and an easy guy to root for. I'll miss his sprints to first on walks.

If that is what it takes for change--sure. My guess is they sneak into the postseason, maybe get lucky and win a game, then flame out in the divisional round. And.....Everyone Returns!!!

I'm not sure if you wrote your thought wrong to the bolded. It seems contradictive unless I am having brain trouble (completely possible as I do have some disability here.) Unless NE trips up a bunch is part of the reason why every week is "must win." 13-4 might be the 1 seed, you are correct. However, there are times where the last game can take you from 1 seed or 2 seed to out of the playoffs altogether. Unless something changes, IMO every week is must win. Otherwise you end up in a position where the last week is a must win and or you need help from other teams to get in. That is why we are not in good position. As it stand now, if we lose this week we would be out of the playoffs until something changes. That will change week to week depending on other game outcomes. I dunno about you, but IMO controlling your own destiny is better than relying on other teams to lose.

We knew they had 9 home games. Then, when the schedule actually came out and we saw there was no international "home" game..........I mean, that looked like a best case scenario schedule for a reigning division champ. They've blown it for want of a WR1. And hell, if Kincaid stayed healthy they are probably the 1 seed.
