I stated in my OP that he is what is at this point which is solid depth. Hairston is the future, but White is the present. Hopefully, he will be up to speed come play off time. -
It took a while, but Tua Turnthaballova finally showed up!!
PoundingDog replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see some improvement in Tua's game actually. In the past, he's never able to get out of the grasp of Tre or Bosa for the potential sacks. Not saying he's Mahomes, Allen level of slippery, but he now surprises people now and then in that department. The bottom line is he's tier 2 QB. For him, it manifests that when you get pressure on him, getting him off his spot in the pocket, he's prone to make inaccurate throws and INTs like the one Bernard got last night. Look at Bills Dolphins game history, the lopsided games when he played poorly are always we are able to put pressure on him. Yesterday we could not put consistent pressure - I should use the word any pressure for long stretch of time, to move him even off the spot. Converting that many 3rd downs against us is an achievement 67%, almost Chiefs like. Remember the Ravens never even faced that many 3rd downs when they moved the ball on us. But when they did, we "limited" them to convert 54%. -
I like Epenesa but wonder if he could wind up as trade bait for a CB eventually.

Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?
The Cincinnati Kid replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
I completely disagree with this point. Football games are long and there are ebbs and flows. I know it is not the same thing, but I was a Varsity Offensive Coordinator for a long time and developed game plans and called plays in games and in high leverage situations. An effective offense does not force the issue until they absolutely have to do so. You have a plan and you stick to the plan until the situation changes that plan. You do that because you believe it is a winning formula. I promise you that if that roughing penalty didn’t occur and the Bills were then in a position where they had to force the issue they would have. The Bills offense changes in a predictable way as does the Dolphins Defense. Good staffs know that and have their contingencies in the game plans and call sheets. We didn’t see it because we didn’t need to see it. Running 4 vertical routes at 4 deep safties is “a classic” cover 4 beater?! i quit. -

Agreed we could be better off healthy later on -
The Jets entire gameplan was to run away from Watt. No one is strategizing for Rousseau.

He really seems to have embraced the mentality (and he actually said this) of: a play is breaking down, and sure, he could try to make some highlight-reel worthy type 1/1000000 kind of save, but for what? Was the risk worth the reward? As others have said, it helps we might actually be able to bludgeon teams with the run game, so Josh doesn't start feeling like he has to do everything (until he has to). Some of it is maturation, and constantly improving. I'm glad the "new" Josh Allen we saw last year is simply Josh Allen.

Agree 100%. Tre White knows how to play Tyreek Hill. They have been going against each other since his Kansas City days and were drafted within 1 year of one another. Sometimes you don’t match up speed against speed. -

I mean, maybe? But you would think when it's a tie game in the 4th quarter that they would start to empty the tank at least a little bit -

No, you just don’t like the way they’re winning football games. -
And it should be hard to say that the personnel you saw on D last night will be the same that you see at the end of the year - it should improve dramatically with: Ed Oliver - excellent player addition M Milano - yes, he is still a starter the PED boys - Hoecht/Ogunjobi Hairston - first round draft pick Safety - still think Beane is working on someone -within a budget. Either by trade with a loser team (ala A Coop method) or just buy J Simmons at a discount. That's 4-6 additional players from what you saw last night. Do you think most teams are doing that?
-
And this is the divider among fans. The "White Men Can't Jump" theory. Some people would rather look pretty and lose than look bad and win.
-
You say lack of downfield passing and I say non existent as in they don't have it at all and have yet to see it. What happens when defenses take away the short game? Because by the time playoffs come around that's what the top elite teams will try and do. It has to be incorporated even a little bit and I think Moore would be the perfect guy for it running a 4.35 at his pro day.

Shutting down our offense in the 2nd half of the playoff game?
-
I have some of the same complaints about the Offense but the biggest sore thumb for me - as long as we are complaining - were the timeouts taken by Coach Sean during Miami's last drive of the first half. I felt he was aiding the Miami Offense and if the Bills did get the ball back there was going to be very little time left. I felt that was bad coach decision making.

It’s probably them recognizing it is a mix of him doing what we’ve asked in terms of anchoring against the run (which has been a point of emphasis) and the way opponents have game-planned, which hasn’t really allowed pass rushers to make a major impact. Through the first two weeks, the Ravens and Jets combined to average just 20.5 pass attempts per game. That’s not many opportunities in today’s NFL for a pass rusher to stand out. On top of that, he was off the field by the time Tyrod Taylor came in and threw 11 passes in the fourth quarter of a blowout (I don’t have the snap counts in front of me, but I do know his half-sack came against Fields). Is it really so horrible he managed a PD and a half-sack on about 11 pass plays with Fields in the game? Even so, he registered a pass deflection in each of those weeks plus that half-sack against the Jets. Against the Dolphins, the offense was built around throws behind the line of scrimmage, which largely neutralized the rush. The defense only lost contain on Tua a couple of times, and I’m not sure that was directly on Rousseau. I did notice one scramble where Bosa lost contain, which has been a theme for him each week. Overall, Rousseau has been fine. There are plenty of highly paid EDGE with similar or even worse production through two weeks (yes, I know he’s now through 3 weeks). For example, T.J. Watt has faced teams averaging about 28 pass attempts per game, yet has no sacks or pass deflections to show for it

I *think* Coleman can do it, but I thought last night would be the breakout and it wasn't In fairness Walker was right in his face and got a graze on the pass but yeah Bernard read that all day -
Why do they have to lift their dresses over their head until the ball is caught? I don’t get it.

Excecpt 4 Verts concept, is a classice Cover 4 beater. It stresses the safeties and opens the seams. It's also a Cover 2 beater. -

G2 say I respect you as a poster here, but if this was someone else Id be thinking this is cope. This game was close up until the INT. You really think we were throttling back the offense to keep our offense close to the chest still? Genuinely asking. The no rhythm part I get, which is why I think they would open the offense up a bit early. Josh is so good at the intermediate throws, and can cruise on those taking care of the ball so well that I dont see a downside to it. Is there some rust still? WRs not getting open? Dont get me wrong, Im absolutely LOVINGGG the heavy TE formations and how disguised it keeps everything. It really puts defenses in a predicament! Also, really glad to be putting some Hawes touches on film early in the season... keeps the defenses from trying to cheat in, such an advantaged plus formation. But when were not running those, id like to see more intermediate and deep shots too. I want to be as balanced as possible, and it seems like were (again) inviting teams to crowd the LOS. I fully want to believe, and im far from worrying, but Id be lying if I said it wasnt a bit concerning for games down the road. Short week, bad team, just trying to get out with a division win as healthy as possible.... I get all that 100% and happy as hell to be 3-0 with a mini-bye. Im nitpicking a bit, just want to make sure we don't run into our midseason slumber again with the 1 seed being the most obtainable its been -

When the Fins are right, they ARE a high powered offense. Hill and Waddle are two of the fastest WRs in the NFL, and Achane is a very fast RB who can catch the ball out of the backfield. There aren't many defenders who can stick with that trio. -
Deone Walker always had elite, high RD1 ability but slipped due to playing last year with a back injury. If we can keep him healthy, he might become a game wrecker like we haven’t had on the interior. He legitimately has that ability. His floor is already solid DT play with splash plays here and there.

The rookie got off that ball so quick and caused Tua to throw quick , phenomenal complementary defense, Walker could be 1 of the steals of the draft
