My friends were chatting about the “dark ages” and the CJ Spiller draft came up. Most of you will recall, the team already had Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson on the roster, with about a billion other holes. Despite this, new Bills GM Buddy Nix selected CJ Spiller 9th overall. A few months later, he flipped Marshawn for a fourth round and conditional fifth round pick. So… I went down a rabbit hole, curious how egregious team building like this could even happen. No doubt in my mind if James Cook would have sat out or got traded it would have been a big loss for us. I hate that he’s not an every down back but it is what it is.

Biggest issue is less about Cook more about how he is used. Barkley is on the field 80% of snaps Williams 90% CMC 80-90% (when healthy) Kamara 70% Taylor 60-70% Jacobs 60-70% Henry is 60% Cook is under 50% and only had one game above 60% all season. In 2 of the 3 playoff games he was at 45%.

As far as the team is concerned, I don't think it is a huge deal. Caden Davis looks like a kicker with good upside. When teams need to replace a kicker during the season, most always seem to find a decent replacement. There are always good kickers out there looking for work.

We have plenty of slot players. We needed an outside threat. And ironically, I think Keon Coleman is best as a big slot. So... I guess we'll see how everything goes this year. Coleman needs to be an outside answer.

I read he was a pure inside guy repeatedly, not just here. Seemed redundant for what we had and what we needed. Still not sure they got it right , even with FA I wanted two DTs and two WRs lol

Here is the problem with rostering VD over someone like Ken Green; the Bills have three inside OL starters in Edwards, Torrence and McGovern, but with SVPG injured the only back is Anderson and he is not a center. VD, Lundt and Grable are not inside players. This is why I have Green making this team right now.
