Guessing he's now our 4th outside CB, right?

He'd been playing pretty much backup Safety all year with the ability to hop in as the slot and nickel CB. Now with Savage won't it just be a seamless transition to move him into Ingram's role? And isn't he better than Ingram? Sure seems like it to me. Ingram wasn't even active the last 3 games.

And Darius Slay doesn't play Special Teams, Cam Lewis is a special teams ace.

Plus, Darnell Savage was a pretty productive Packers DB who really just wasn't re-signed more for money issues than flat out not wanting him... sound familiar?

So in the process of Slay refusing to report Beane upgrades our 4th CB and Safety depth while finding a possible future starter after this trial run.

Agree.  Plus for a little guy Cam hits like a Mack truck!

Cam Lewis would have been the difference for the Chiefs playoff game had he started and played the whole thing last year. He glued to Kelce and the middle playing a hybrid double nickel

Cam has been playing as our dime actually most of the last two years. And has played reasonably well.

Would not want to rely on him at outside corner.

So well that we still give up most every 3rd and long when he’s on the field

Cam has been pretty good this year and last in the dime role. He had a horrible game against the Buccs (when he was playing more nickel for Taron who was out) but otherwise he has been pretty reliable and is certainly not responsible for every 3rd down or whatever it is you claimed.

He’s a liability in coverage. He’s not as awful Hamlin was at safety but he’s definitely the weak link in the secondary now and you’ll see it tomorrow when Burrow looks his way when we have 4 corners on the field.

…despite having a good game the week before against the Chiefs when filling in for Johnson.

If they feel they need another outside corner, they'll bring Dane Jackson up from the PS.  Not saying this is a great solution, but he's there when/if the need arises.

Someone here doesn't like Lewis.......its OK.  You do what you gotta do.  Personally I have low expectations for this game.....makes the day go by much better.  I don't focus on one individual when there are 10 others out there with him.....

Agreed. Cam is a reasonable tackler, and he does well keeping plays in front of him.
But he’s not quick or fast enough to be anything more than aback up DB.

Cam is the backup nickel back behind Taron Johnson and a depth piece at safety in addition to his special team contributions.  He will never be anything more.  Jordan Hancock has better size, more athleticism and higher upside.  Savage probably will end up ahead of Cam Lewis at safety on the depth chart once he gets acclimated to the Bills' defense.  I'm guessing he can also play some outside corner in a pinch, which is where he is most needed at the moment.  I think Buffalo stands to be pretty strong at safety next season.  Besides Bishop, there could end up being a competition between Hancock and Savage to start at the other side.  Take your pick between Hamlin and Rapp for the fourth safety.  One of them, probably Hamlin, is probably going to have a tough time making the roster.   I think the Bills are going to have to start thinking about the future at nickel CB.  Taron Johnson looks to be in the early stages of decline.  It's getting harder for him to stay healthy too.  Small wonder since he's not the biggest corner around and plays a very physical style.

Oh come on now just ask those here Beane just doesn't know what he's doing and is incompetent in what he has done for this team & some would say he's playing checkers while others are playing chess ..

I have a hunch that Burrow will do what most teams do when they need a 3rd down conversion. Locate 27 and throw to whoever he's attempting to cover.

I would take Cam on the field in a big spot over Tre White 10/10 times. That's the real weak spot of our secondary. Hopefully, Max makes him obsolete come playoff time.

Actually watch  Lewis play. He consistently is out of position or gets beat for a big gain. Watch most 3rd and longs and see who’s the one giving up the first down.

maybe in prior years. This year, He has looked about 10 times better than Taron when he has been out there in his place. He actually has some great PDs and stout tackles in the run game.
