Cooks ain't gonna cut it!  Why not just sign Gabe to 53?

He has one more call up. Potentially someone else is going to end up on IR and Beane can sign Gabe then or just waive someone else that is worthless on the roster. It's either that or they aren't getting out of him what they expect to.

So he'd be free to sign here, I assume.

Correct.  He signed as a free agent, not a waiver claim.  No one wanted his contract, he has a new one.

Doubt he's still sub 4.4 but at least the defense has to respect his speed. Might at least give the underneath guys some space?

But he hasn't had Josh Allen throwing him the ball 😉

Elijah Moore the last two years with Cleveland Brown quarterbacks had 548 and 649 yds. This year with Josh Allen he has 112 yds.

Joshua Palmer had over 580 yds each of the last two seasons. 769 the year before that. This year 272 so far.

Either Josh is not a good qb (I doubt it) or with Brady as OC, it would not matter who the wide receivers are.

I will be surprised if Brandon Cooks does well here unless Brady has some kind of magical epiphany.

Again I don't mention George Pickens but

I checked the Bills were 7-4 and Cowboys were 5-5-1.  Guess you think Dallas better than us cuz they got CeeDee and Pickens?  Cuz I mean Cowboys put up 200 more yards passing this season than us on 71 more pass attempts so like 20 more yards on about 6 more passes per game. By golly you convinced me nothing.

That’s just not a realistic way to look at it. The Eagles & Rams are probably the 2 best teams in football and have elite receivers. The Bengals have elite receivers and stink. Every team has different strengths and weaknesses. Trying to put it in a vacuum to make a point is misleading. The Bills are 7-4 & the Cowboys are 5-5-1 and 100% of people that have any clue about football would trade the Bills WRs for the Cowboys.

For the situation that the Bills are in, they can play with anybody. If they are going to be a championship team, they’re going to play some close games in the playoffs. When the pressure turns up, in a 1 score game, do they have someone that can make that play Pickens made Sunday? Do they have a guy that wins, with 2 or even 3 guys on him because he’s better than they are?? That’s the difference between the Bills of the last 6 years and a title. In the key moments, they didn’t have the guy. When they had the guy, he literally dropped the ball.

Supposedly, they’re leaving josh to deal with a free rusher by design. So if dudes don’t become open immediately, we’re kinda screwed. The people we signed can’t get open immediately. It’s not them it’s us.

In 2023 and 2024 he made the list of top 20 fastest ball carriers of a given week 4 times. He might still have some juice with a real QB throwing to him.

That's encouraging. he's probably our fast wr already then.

The collusion, if any, would have been between the Bills and Cooks, with the Bills trying to talk a member of the Saints roster out of playing for them and jumping to another team.  If the Saints didn't want him, they could have just cut him.

Thats what they did. They cut him, or they released him, or they waived him. It all means the same thing after the trade deadline because even vets have to go through waivers at that point.

Well. It's on Brady now. Good grief.

Yep, Beane got him a 1,000 yard receiver from 4 years ago off waivers in late November.........what's Brady's excuse going to be NOW!

The Eagles and Rams have cheap good defensive players that allow them to pay for their high end WRs so yeah it's helped them be where they are today. So sure I'd take the Rams and Eagles other parts besides WR all things considered but at same time the Bills are also a result of their success. As the Rams and Eagles had had a few less than stellar year between Super Bowls to let them to be in position to draft those better young defenders which Bills have not due to again continued success in the regular season. I didn't even bring up these teams initial argument. I brought up the Steelers cuz the who premise is not going for elite talent aka Metcalf who to me sure excellent measurables that not always lived up to and he not fint well into our cap design.

If I recall the verbiage correctly, Greg Cosell called our downfield passing scheme "elementary."  Other analysts have made similar comments.

So what we need is a wideout so talented that he can get open even running simplistic, predictable routes.  I am glad Beane did something, but I don't think Cooks is that guy.

Count me in. We can hate on everything Bean does or we can just be happy to try a new guy. It won’t take much to help. Help is good.

I'm very cynical at this point. But you're right. Beane is kind of screwed either way. We're mad about the roster, but it's mid season now. No one available today would make us happy.
