Looking to see if anything would change next year and it seems the defense is the one with the most holes to fill and shocker that means a heavy FA and draft for D. The good news is we shed some dead weight and hopefully a few restructures that make sense.

Gone are guys like; Bosa, Daquan, Milano, AJ, Phillips, Hamlin, Poyer, Tre.

Hopefully we draft the right LB , a pass rusher and run stopper. The hard part is we still need a #1 WR and I don’t think we can afford to pay  20+ million to one with guys like Knox, Samuel, Palmer taking up so much cap space.

Short term buying 3 + oft injured, inconsistent WRs isn’t a great plan im sure he thought Samuel and Palmer would be better here but they aren’t. And we overpaid for Knox heavily.

I wouldn't keep any of those defensive guys. I think Samuel will be cut. Knox will either be cut or take a massive paycut to stay with his buddy Josh. The actual tougher decisions are on the oline. At the start of the season I'd have said you have to keep McGovern but he has had a tough year. I saw someone the other day allude to him playing hurt, not sure if that is true but if it is that factors into the decision.

Knox will not be here under his current cap hit. He will either likely have to take a pay cut or be gone. Samuel likely won't be here either.

Yes, next off season should be defense heavy. If you have seen them play you know why.

Luckily, on offense, we really just need to restock the WR room. Beane is going to have to find a trade because the FA WR class is terrible.

It’d be a huge help if we could get more than one starter out of each year’s draft class. I’m certain it’d curtail the need for the free agent dumpster diving we’ve been witnessing.

I did just notice that Denver, which has allowed only 2 sacks all season, has their C and LG playing on contracts for just around $1MM per year.

I feel that in this year's Draft the Bills will finally make a big move up for either a pass rusher or a WR.

They have no A player at either of those important spots and need a stud somewhere.

The Bills have to get younger and need a difference maker, not just more average to good players.

I agree with GB that the OL needs to be re-tooled a bit.  Dion is clearly in decline, but there are decent depth guys on the roster with which to work.

I'm not totally disagree with your take - it is one opton.  But wonder if doing the opposite may end up with a longer-term reward. Get a real #1 WR in the draft (of course that's just a matter where they pick and  bitt of luck) and get two more O lineman to beef up the O-lne. I think Dawkns is on a down hill trajectory and protecting Allen is the priority for this team. yes, they still won't be able to stop anyone but maybe they can simply outscore them. Plus, Beane and his team are simply not very good at scouting and picking D linemen. Of course maybe the Bills could trade the next three first round Picks for Myles Garret.

Our FA list is absolutely massive, but I think are top re-sign guys are:

Reggie Gilliam

Connor McGovern

Next level:

AJ Epenesa

Cam Lewis

David Edwards

None of them, outside Reggie, are difference makers. I think I'd bring McGovern back to be OG again.

Being Paid to Not Be Here:

Matt Milano - 11m

Joey Bosa - 7.2m

Connor McGovern - 4.8m

DQ Jones - 3.7m

AJ Epenesa - 2.8m

Larry Ogunjobi - 2.5m

Release Candidates:

Taron Johnson, 30 - ~2m (opt out clause)

Dawson Knox, 30 ~9.5m (opt out clause)

Curtis Samuel, 30 ~6.7m (opt out clause)

Tyler Bass, 29 ~2.7m (release)

Taylor Rapp, 29 ~3.4m (release)

Restructure:

Josh Allen

Groot

Psycho Spencer Brown

Due to age and/or injury concerns, I would not restructure the contracts of Oliver, Benford, Bernard or Dawkins.

We’ve drafted some solid players over the years this regime has been here. Many of whom are key players and starters.

Id rather they hit on an elite or dominant player each year. That isn’t feasible but getting a couple out of every few years should be attainable.

There’s Josh and Jimbo. That’s pretty much it in terms of the upper echelon at their position.

Regardless of that hope, every franchise wants that. Something that is very hard to do.

If you can’t do it then do you sacrifice the premium draft picks for players who are?

It is not reasonable to expect that more than one or two of our draft picks will either begin or end up being starters by the end of the season, which means this off season we will need to sign a lot of free agents in the bargain bin section given our cap constraints and significant needs, particularly on defense.

Good thing about the OL is I think they are, justifiably, confident in their ability to draft & develop there.

If they let Edwards and McGovern walk, we’ll have SVPG, Anderson, Grable and Lundt all with time on task in the system with Kromer.

Van Demark is another question mark.  He’s an RFA after this year.  If he plays well in place of Spencer Brown, which I think he will .. he’s a starter quality player from what he’s shown, do we bring him back?

Bills have VPG, Anderson and others to come in and take over, which I believe they will.

Beane did a great job with OLine depth, and next season is payoff time.

This is how he saves his ‘24 class.

If SVPG and Grable are dudes.. well ok, give me a stud starting Safety and two good OL from that Draft and we can relax a bit on the draft discourse.

What gives you confidence VPG is any good?

At the time they paid Knox they were utilizing his skills in the passing game and since they now have Kincaid they barely call his number so that is IMHO the biggest reason why ya'll think he's over paid but I think if his number was called as much like it was before Kincaid show'd up he'd be worth the money .

I think Bosa should be brought back because when Hoecht was in those 2 games he show'd what he could do if all of the attention wasn't on him, most all of the others that you mentioned I too think will be gone and the team will be pretty much a different team next year .

Samuel has been a bust for the hope he had coming in Palmer might be a bit better if Josh can develop some chemistry with him but Moore let him walk !

These contracts really don't make our front office look competent.

The rams and eagles and KC tend to pay a lot for very good or great players, we pay average to good guys.

We gotta land one elite and one top tier guy to get us over IMO.
