His body language and attitude has been worrisome this year.  His comments about "needing to trust" the offense and his 1000 yard stares from the bench just gives off a bad vibe this year. He's chained to a coaching staff that is completely ill-suited for his skill set and a front office that refuses to provide him any help. And he knows it.

My guess, though, is even if McDermott would swallow his pride (which I don't think he will) and ask him to come back, Daboll would decline and I wouldn't blame him.  Why would he want to take over this mess.

Even more of an issue is the clear disregard for the defense. Poor execution, tackling, scheme and personnel. Even if we never fix the offense, we can't win Diddley with this defense.
