BillsFan619 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) “On seven targets, Bishop allowed two receptions for 18 yards, seven yards after the catch, no touchdowns, four pass breakups, a couple of near-interceptions, and an opponent passer rating of 39.6.” Patrick Moran of Talking Buffalo said Hamlin and Rapp had five pass breakups COMBINED for the entire last season with playoffs. Bishop had four pass breakups IN ONE GAME against the Chiefs. 😱 Plus, his hit on Travis Kelce. Edited 1 hour ago by BillsFan619 1 4 1 Quote

Augie Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If Cole keeps playing anything like this, it’s a bit of redemption for Beane for choosing him and McD for coaching him up in a way that didn’t ruin him by throwing him into the fire too soon. This might be one of the biggest turnarounds I can remember, because it was painful to watch him early. Good for you Cole, for being dedicated to improvement. THIS is what they saw in him. 5 1 Quote

strive_for_five_guy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He played a great game last weekend. Hopefully it’s a sign of where this could be headed. Quote
notpolian Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He clearly has the athleticism and was somewhat of a project coming out of the draft. I'm definitely encouraged by his play lately. The hit on Kelce was a satisfying watch. It can work this year along with Poyer's experience as long as we don't get caught out by Poyer's athletic decline as he gets older. 1 Quote

I think it was more than one good game. He has consistently been improving for a while. I’m sure there will be dips as well, but it’s a beautiful thing to see what he can be. I think he’s been heading upward for a while. . Edited 1 hour ago by Augie 1 2 Quote

I'd put it neck and neck with Spencer Brown. Quote

It's simply called the natural progression of a young player. And it won't be linear, there will still be games he seems to take a step back. Overall tho, his progress has been fantastic and IMO Poyer has played an integral part in helping him understand both his role and how to communicate properly in this D. Safety is an extremely hard position to master in this D because of all the disguising and communication needed in it. Poyer said it took 2 years of him starting to finally feel comfortable in it. Bishop has far less time than that but he has the guy who played it at an All-Pro level mentoring him. Edited 1 hour ago by Big Turk 2 Quote

In my humble opinion that’s what needs to happen for Hancock and Hairston. We could be seeing an evolution of our new secondary. We still have Benford and I don’t see Taron being done. 2 1 1 Quote

I was one of those bashing the Bishop but he’s definitely turning it around this season so far, and you can’t underestimate how much it helps for him to learn from a calm vet like Poyer rather than a head case like Rapp Quote
BigAl2526 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Bishop essentially lost his rookie season to injury. That means he lost all that development time. It was no reason IMO to judge him a bust. Safety in Buffalo's defensive system is a very complicated position to learn. There was no guarantee he was going to learn and become a productive safety for the Bills, but also no reason to be shocked that he is becoming what the Bills had hoped for. It just took some time. 1 Quote

I'm guilty of not being a believer in Bishop going into this season but this looks to be spot on. I didn't think he had the instincts to play the position at the NFL level but now it looks like he was just behind the learning curve because of the missed reps. Watching the games live at the stadium his athleticism absolutely stands out. He is already becoming one of my favorite players on the Defense Quote

Last week was his 18th start, so essentially what should’ve been the first game of his 2nd season. 1 1 Quote
Sestak4ever Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago It would be great to see him build his confidence and continue to improve his recognition skills of offenses. That would go a long way of him becoming our next Micah Hyde. Go Bills!!🏈 Quote
