Another giant pile of crap.

Hoecht has played 4 straight 17 game seasons plus a bunch of postseason games and has never missed a single game in the NFL.

He missed 6 games to start this season.

See kids, don't do steroids, they destroy your body.   So glad we signed Hoecht and Ogunjobi this off-season.  I'm not a Beane hater or apologist, but Palmer, Samuel, Ogunjobi, and Hoecht makes one wonder.

Thompson and Bosa have been good to excellent signings, but the rest.  Awful.

I'm trying to think about a time when a player was ruled out with an Achilles injury and the MRI came back showing NO tear, and I'm coming up blank.

McCaffrey that prime time game last year against us in the snow.

They just lost their best defensive player for the year and one of their only two big FA acquisitions for the year in back to back weeks, at the same position group, which happens to be the 2nd most important group on the field after QB.

That's light years beyond the "part of the game" expectation.

I don't agree. He's good but we can move on without him

Actually I thought he hurt himself early in the game, on the play where he swam JTaylor (the play right after he'd gotten too wide and taken himself out for a big gain) and dropped Hunt 2 yrds deep on a 1st down. He was favoring his left shoulder for a looong time after that. At a couple points, I thought he wasn't even using it.

I agree it’s likely that was tweaked last week, earlier in the game or practice. A complete tear on one play out of the blue isn’t likely.

Javon Solomon was who the bills turned too for this role in the 4th quarter after the injury.

I can’t say I remember 1 good thing that Solomon has done for this defense so my hopes are low but I think this will be what the bills try next.

He had that one good stunt late that freed up Bosa for a qb hit, but yeah the drop off from Hoecht was pretty big, you could feel it. We were walking back their interior OL all game.  It was fun to watch. Shame he got hurt, pretty big loss if you consider how much he flashed the first two weeks. In a perfect world Jackson would have a similar role but he can’t get on the field.

I sure did see the potential connection, unfortunately

even if unrelated, it invites uncomfortable speculation….

Just because it happened now doesn't mean he is still using. Most athletes won't use substances in season because risk/reward too much and not just getting caught. Anabolics take a tax on your body and best used for strength improvement. Football players I know that used them in late HS and early college. In season doping and other kinds of drugs are much more likely.

HGH and other performance enhancing drugs are generally out of season and tapered off before conditioning of any type truly kicks into effect for most sports

Yeah, he was balling. This was the first thing I thought of though:

Both anabolic steroids (performance-enhancing drugs) and corticosteroids (anti-inflammatory medications) can weaken tendons and ligaments, disrupt collagen structure, and increase the risk of injury or rupture.

This was my thought too.

Sure we can; we've got no choice.

But there is no better or more important player on defense than him.

What's killer is that the success of the season, in large part, hinged on him making an immediate impact upon his return. It seemed like a lot to ask for, and he stepped in right away and was wrecking shop. Was better than any of us could've expected. Something finally paid off for the defensive line, and then it was over in an instant.

Dorian Williams takes Hoechts place on rushing from the inside.

Dorian and Hoecht were both out there, together.

I think they try and trade for another DT.  If not Jackson gets his chance to play Hoechst’s  role.

Oh please no.
