BigDingus Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Guys, I'm pretty sure we're too broke to trade or sign for any of the exiting players. We're dead last in available cap, so it'd take a lot to get someone notable. Makes it even more painful knowing the Pats have the MOST cap space available with like $50+ million. They're just going to get better & better, which is sad to imagine given where we all expected to be. 2 1 Quote
CSBill Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I'm saving this thread for when Tommy Akingbesote is named an All-Pro two years from now. 1 2 Quote

They've had a good month against some of the worst teams in the league, except for us - and that game was kind of silly w/ the turnovers & refs. 1 Quote
Jimmy Harris 69 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Good thing we got this guy. The idiot Steelers traded for Kyle Dugger. 🤪 Quote

Low Positive Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I get being upset about things. I’m pissed about the WR situation. But for everyone raging about this move, what else did you want them to do with the PS spot that opened up when they signed Phillips to the 53? Do you want them to only make meaningful moves and leave the practice squad empty? They did a standard Tuesday tryout (teams do these all the time) and chose the least bad option. This dude could be cut tomorrow if a better option presents itself. 1 Quote
BigAl2526 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Obviously, this is a fringe type of signing. He won't be any kind of difference maker this year. I'm not saying he'll be a star next year. I just think it's important to look at what he is. For those who have not googled him, he was the last pick of Dallas in the last draft. He is considered to be pretty athletic, but unpolished in spite of playing four years of college ball. In draft literature, he's listed as 306 lbs. Buffalo Rumblings reports he weighed as much as 322 lbs during his time with Dallas. Coming out of college, he was seen as more of a 3 tech but with more weight, if it's quality weight, maybe he can play some 1 tech too. If he was signed to the 53 man roster, obviously, the Bills want him available to take snaps right away if need be. It would make more sense if he's on the PS where he could continue to get stronger and develop his technique. Sometimes fringe signings can turn into good pr even great players. Most of the time they don't. It doesn't cost a lot to take a flyer on the guy. I think as far as immediate help at defensive tackle is concerned, Phidarian Mathis offers more than Akingbesote. He's big enough to man either spot and offers a bit of experience. Edited 10 hours ago by BigAl2526 Quote

We have been so close for several years and seem to be spinning our wheels. Quote

I think, in a way, we're making fun of ourselves for wanting an elite receiver instead of a PS DT despite knowing the realities of the situation. My own hopeful fantasy runs something like this... Years ago, billionaire Terry Pegula hired a group of world-class scientists who secretly cloned Eric Moulds, Andre Reed, and Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion. The original Moulds, Reed, and Dubenion, with the coordination of cutting-edge strength and conditioning specialists, have been training their clones to play NFL football. And any day now I'm going to see that the Bills have signed them as FAs. That dream was met today with the cold-water-in-my-face reality of Akingbesote. Quote
