I once heard a GM (Dell Demps) say that only like 5-10% of the things discussed ever leak out (or some low number like that). Lol, I don’t remember the specifics but the point was there are always “feelers.” When you get to trade deadlines or drafts, they become more real because there is a natural “expiration date.”

The Bills are definitely engaged in discussions and BTJ isn’t the only one. Will any of it come to fruition? Who knows, but they’re on the phone.

This is all we can ask for as fans. Its encouraging to know. The Bills can't make the other team pull the trigger.

I find it hard to believe Buffalo pulls the lever on the Johnson deal without a deal in place.  Buffalo doesn't have leaks.  I feel like the media and “rumor” mill is always days behind Beane and the calls he is making.  Most deals/trades Buffalo make are reported when the trade is sent into the league.

I tend to agree but there's no reason NOT to pull the lever on Johnson deal. It allows us to get it out of the way in case a deal is made, and if we don't use the cap space it carries over to next year anyway, so there is not reason not to do it. It doesn't mean a deal is already in place, or even close.

Agree. I'm just saying that we need to manage expectations. If I were Beane I would not pay as though we were landing a proven #1 at this point, and frankly I don't think he would for the simple reason that he's not stupid. I'm far from any kind of expert but I suspect that BJT and Shaheen are closer as talents than most might think. In fact so far this year Shaheed has shown greater versatility. They are both deadly threats to stretch the field. It all comes down to what you are being asked to pay in either case.
From our perspective it is difficult to imagine a shinier object than BTJ. Smith, who knows something about catching a friggin football says that BTJ has more natural ability than  Malik Nabers (if that's even possible) but he thinks Nabers is a better receiver. The reason he gives: Nabers is a dawg and BTJ is not. His maybe not being a dawg is sort of consistent with some of his play this year. It actually takes more than physical ability to be a great WR.
Take it for what it's worth.

Sorry for the repeat comparison, but someone should tell Steve Smith that Randy Moss wasn't a dog.  He hated being hit or going across the middle.  Most of the things that BTJ is being criticized for.  I'm not saying your wrong about Shaheed, but you have to factor that Olave is the one drawing the most coverage, which allows Shaheed more favorable opportunities.  My buddy in Jax tells me that BTJ is consistently double teamed. For what it's worth.

Nix said the same thing as has Beane I believe.

I like the receiver who plays angry and with emotion, ala Nabors, but with that usually comes a bit of diva (Diggs). BTJ and Coleman don’t play that way, but if they were the quiet producer like Jefferson (or Fitzgerald), no one could say they didn’t have that dawg in them.

Jefferson catches lots of balls between the numbers at intermediate depth even though he lines up predominately outside. He may be quiet but he is also known to be fearless.

He also has the most yards thru the first however many years of a career in NFL history.

More dead cap for a player who isn’t/wasn’t playing great.  It’s not free money and a reason they are not always just done.

I think they pull if it something is promising, not necessarily imminent. If a trade falls through, the Johnson deal doesn't hurt them.

Always hate trade deadline day. So many moving parts behind the scenes that we don't and will never know.

My best guess is that Beane has some offers out on some players already. However, the players we are in on there is competition for. I'm guessing that the teams that hold those players rights are waiting as late as possible to agree to a move to see if something better comes along.

Even though I'll be "F5ing" all day, I don't expect to hear about any Bills related moves until 3:40-3:55 at the earliest.

Chris Olave is my guess at the player they want. Just don’t know that Shaheed moves the needle enough. Hes a boom or bust player, which I’m not sure is something that Buffalo is wanting.

Olave has all the traits of a true leading WRs of an NFL passing game, and is still in his first contract

Am I the only thinking we should be looking for a TE?

...maybe a RB?

Possibly QB depth?

Would like a dependable #2 back.  Not sure he is on the team right now.

they are pretty much always done, we did it with multiple guys this offseason too. We have routinely done it with most contracts of guys we plan on keeping through their contract.

As a slot receiver, he has to just be over the moon in getting to receive from the master of the hospital ball himself, Trevor Lawrence.

Trade ALERT: Chiefs are sending Worthy to Bills in exchange for Coleman.......LOL

Just a JOKE.

Worthy reaching critical levels of overhyped in the media has me irrationally worried about beane trading for a wr haha although I doubt GMs pay any attention to skill position player hype like that 😂

really don’t know what I’m missing with worthy it just baffles me every week…one guy is slow with a mediocre OC and one guy is fast with the best offensive play caller of all time but worthy and coleman have pretty much the same in season production.  I really don’t think either guy will work out to be a long term starter tbh.

Worthy has lower career receiving yards per game than Coleman and Palmer have had in this bills offense…pretty wild stat
