LAMP - Anyone else still overall pessimistic about this season/Super Bowl chances?

I generally think Beane approached the WR corp and adding guys that Josh will just make them better because he is awesome. I am waiting for him to say he added Beasley & Brown in 2019 to improve the room as vets and he needs his recent additions to do the same. The difference is Beasley was in his prime and at the time maybe the best slot WR (heck we beat NE for him) and Brown was a proven speed burner by then also a solid WR at the time. Palmer I like, but the rest look like cheap flameouts and lotto tickets they keep hoping for a $100 with when they spent $1. Coleman they have forced out of position (not that I think he is good either) rather then drafting actual outside boundary WRs.

Look at Diggs production once Brady took over.  I don’t recall a game where Brady was able to make anyone look like a number one.

I happen to agree with this. As good as the Buffalo run game looks the pass game looks equally bad. 

 

While this season started out looking like a godsend for the Buffalo Bills it is starting to look like they might enter the playoffs as a wildcard with the Patriots taking the division. 

 

Did Danial Jones switch brains with Josh Allen? Because Allen has looked like a befuddled normal human "maybe" QB instead of the alien unicorn we have all come to know and love. I suppose this next game will tell us what's really going on with the passing game. Is this to deceive us into thinking that our beloved QB has regressed back to 2019 or is the deception for the Chiefs DC in Spags? We shall see.

Diggs best years were behind him once Brady took over. And he still put up close to 1200 yards. Who on this roster is capable of looking like a number 1 ?

Brady and Diggs were only together for 7 games and two playoff games. Diggs did get at least 10 targets in 3 of those 9 games. The others were not too far off from the recent trend with Diggs. So I dont know if its a Brady/Diggs thing or just a Brady thing. The passing scheme with Brady just seems awful. My naive take without seeing the playbook and video footage is that so much is predicated off being an extension of the run, using blockers in the passing game with the quick screens. The downfield routes all seem to be hooks or just guys going to spaces. Not a lot of cross action, not picks and minimal downfield patterns. It reminds me of a college playbook built for a QB with limited ability. Just get the ball out quick to "playmakers". If we had Chase or Jefferson would it still just be quick WR screen and let them run? Or would Brady incorporate some downfield stuff? Who knows. But its becoming way too predicable.

- Stefon Diggs was becoming washed up once Brady took over. He removed himself from 3rd downs. That's a fact.

- Study Diggs' production after he left us. Yeah. Huge nose dive.

 

To the posters who believe that One WR1 will fix us: We need 2 damn good receivers to fix us.

- Cincinnati has Tee Higgins AND JaMaar Chase.

- San Diego has Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen, and Quentin Johnston.

Yesterday was fun. Regardless of what happens with KC this team will not win it all unless they make couple trades.  Zero chance. I’m very calm cause I ain’t buying that BS no more.

I truly believe that Beane is of the mindset that no matter the piss poor quality of players that they surround JA with, that JA can elevate their play.......i truly believe that Beane believes this and this is why he keeps bargain bin shopping for WR's, thinking that JA will make the WR's good.

 

And, until the FO shows a commitment to actually taking quality WR's seriously, i can't honestly take this team too seriously anymore.

All I can say is this playbook is the same one that Brian Daboll used and Ken Dorsey used and yet as much as I love the current Buffalo run game... I cannot stop yearning for that Brian Daboll passing offense that took the world by storm in 2020, 2021. That 2021 New England playoff game 47-17 win with Belichick throwing his headset was such I delight i forgave Daboll for ignoring the run game so much.

 

This is also the very same playbook that the New England Patriots used to win all those super bowls. Its just that Tom Brady was just so darn accurate with the ball and would do enough to move the chains to get to the end zone and hit Gronk for a TD...or something to that effect.

 

In any event, I'm really hoping that what we see against the Chiefs is the Josh Allen we all saw in the fourth quarter against the Ravens. For the love of god Joe open up the passing game. Go back and watch film of the schemes that Daboll used to run and if you deduce that the team really does need a #1 WR then talk to Beane asap.

By the time the playoffs start Beane might be signing people in the stadium to play Defense.

 

As of now we're team #5 in the AFC, that doesn't sound Super Bowl bound to me.

Quinton Johnston was considered a bust

 

Coleman had more yards as a rookie than Johnston did.. Keenan Allen is older and slower than any of our top three today.. even if he's a better route runner 

 

He's 33 and keon Coleman is faster than him.. and people make fun of how slow he is.. Herbert is maximizing the old wide receiver he's not the same guy from 5 years ago

I can't totally give up as long as Josh Allen is healthy. That said, McDermott really did screw up the last two drafts, and there is no indication (at least not to me) that he and Beane will ever put together a good one.

 

If this team doesn't advance in the playoffs, McDermott must go.
