Allen has always been a little bit of a headcase. He wasnt the last couple years, but its always just under the surface. He gets that thousand yard stare on the sidelines and you know he is in his head.

Yup. And he had that look during warmups. You can always tell.

Disagree man. Allen’s decision making as been head scratching and peculiar at several points through this season so far. Not even remotely close to the level he’s shown the last few years. What you see on the sidelines is him understand it’s below his capability and holding himself to a higher standard. Nothing to do with Sean & Co. (yet)

Offensive personnel and play calling is a problem but you can’t let him coast free from the situation. Josh has been very average to poor these last 3 games.

Its not that hard to understand.  He's getting frustrated and forcing balls because no one is open.  And increasingly,  opponents are realizing that their outside WRs are ass and they're just blitzing the hell out of Allen because they know they're not going to get beat deep or to the outside.

To be honest the situation was basically identical last year. I'm surprised teams didn't do it more. The Texans had us figured out. Maybe most teams don't have corners good enough to execute that (Falcons and Pats have good corners, which we saw the past 2 weeks).

Blanket our mediocre boundary WRs with 1-on-1 coverage. Don't worry about doubling anybody. Bring an extra rusher every drop back. Make sure you keep Allen in the pocket and make him throw to one of those guys that isn't open.

Listen man, I’m not saying there isn’t an issue. The guy is an MVP. You talk about adapting but Josh shouldn’t be able to?

Come on man.

lol Allen's been adapting to different systems from day 1. He's succeeded in all of them

I'd try a washed up Amari Cooper at this point.  Could he be any worse than what the Bills line up out there now?

Eh, no. He retired and it was obvious last year he wasn’t into it. They do need to make a trade for a WR if they want to have a chance though.

It's called tape and D coordinators noticed after the Bills first couple of games that outside of Allen & Cook there are no elite skill players on this team.  The Bills do not have an effective boundary WR as seen when their best WR Shakir, couldn't get two feet down in bounds on that great Allen throw early in the game.  Shakir is a solid slot receiver but not a deep or boundary threat.  Think about that - you have an accurate QB with a howitzer who has developed touch yet the deep sideline pass is absent because the Bills have no one in their WR room that can make those catches.

Take shots at Allen all you want, you have a track record of doing that, but the problem is the coach and the structure of the roster.  Last year was a mirage as Allen's otherworldly play hid the defects.  This year Allen hasn't been continuously elite and the Bills O is now struggling to get to 30 points.

Someone said Josh may have been concussed last week when his head bounced off the turf.

On the all 22 last week he was missing open receivers. This week against the Falcons he looked like a mere mortal.

Last week he had plenty of time to throw. This week he did not because of the blitz. Puzzling that we did not throw slants or quick stuff -- blitz beaters. Our O scheme doesn't seem to have hot routes to beat the blitz -- just dump-offs to the RB.

Injuries to our receiving corps may also have played a role.

Agreed.  This scenario was something I worried about going into last year after losing Davis and Diggs,  especially after they didn't draft a separation guy to replace them.  I thought Allen might have his worst statistical year since his second season if defenses really engaged with that weakness at WR.  Thankfully,  they didn't,  whether it was due to the Bills still riding the reputation of a high powered offense or maybe they were worried about getting burned by Cooper or even Hollins,  who made a number of key plays down the stretch.  Whatever the case may be,  they definitely aren't afraid of this crew,  nor should they be,   and I think we'll see this same formula for the remainder of the season where they take their chances 1-on-1 outside and blitz Allen relentlessly until the Bills prove they can counter it.

Both coordinators need to be replaced and someone needs to get a sports psychologist to figure out what's wrong with Allen.

I’ll save you the sports psychologist fee. Here is what is wrong with Allen:

Have you ever seen a sorrier group of receivers? A slow as molasses 2nd round pick who is late for meetings and drops balls. A perennial practice squad player who is playing a ton of snaps because we have no one else. Elijah freaking Moore!?

Want a fun drinking game for a crowd of recovering alcoholics? Throw on the All-22 and drink every time one of our receivers gains separation. They’ll all go home sober.

As much as I disliked Diggs antics, he actually gained separation. If he didn’t have such a malignant attitude he could have retired here.

As much as I hate to say it,  my immediate reaction would be to activate Gabe Davis after the bye,  assuming he's healthy.  He's not really the answer,  but he's probably better than Shavers or Coleman,  and at the very least,  I think teams will have a little more concern and respect for getting beaten deep downfield just based on past experience of the Allen to Davis combination.

There’s a lot of football left to play. That being said I’m not panicking just yet. The Falcons were coming off a bye at home the Bills were hurting for a bye.

I keep saying this but I don’t think the defense is the major problem. Yes I do think the defense has issues. But there’s PED twins plus just getting a lot of the week to week guys back (and hopefully Mad Max down the line) will make a difference. I also think a competent corner or a piece via trade could make an impact.

But there’s something off about the offense. Yes I know Kincaid was out and Palmer got knocked out early but this team needs a WR. The defense gave Josh and the offense a chance to win.

throwing downfield is NOT the trend in the league right now.

That isn't true anymore. The league has swung right back to the downfield passing game winning you games. Cover 2 shell had its moment but offenses have figured out how to punch back. Look at what the Bucs are doing. Or Seattle. Or KC as their offense looks better and better each week. Look at how the Pats have played on offense to establish their lead in the division.

You HAVE to be able to throw the ball downfield or you don't have an offense. Defenses are not gonna let us run and Shakir quick screen them to death all game long. We have to prove we can beat them over the top or the season is over.

Definitley, teams have worked on shutting us down and have a pretty good recipe. However, there’s plenty of teams in the league who has personnel issues, no otherworldly QB and still come out effective.

I’ve seen multiple times Brady, Manning, Montana, Rodgers, Brees and other stud QBs talk or be mentioned how Theyre always in meeting telling coaches of plays to call or not to call.

“Think about that”. If we’re still running the same sht week in week out, there’s more than just one person at fault.

I have a track record of taking shots at Josh?

Lol holding him accountable isn’t taking shots at him whatsoever so please, for a guy who always states people mean things one way or the other, back it up.

Ive advocated nothing but excuses for Josh more often than not and highlight the bigger issues of it being Josh AND X, Y or Z. Not one or the other.

Our issues aren’t isolated to a vacuum. Your propensity and panache of making things up that people have said to “win” or bolster your point on the other hand…

Giants, 9ers, possibly the Colts (Warren for Kincaid wash), the Chiefs (minus Rice) and (going into next week down Egbuka) the Bucs.

Weird how all those teams made things work despite personnel issues.

Now, it isn’t pretty or eye catching production but it is there.

But, for the sake of your point. Yes. It’s one of the worst in the league right now.

What does "holding Allen accountable" even mean? Allen is the main reason the Bills are a yearly playoff team and SB contender.  Like all human beings Allen has a range of performances from "bad' - like against Houston last year - to "Excellent" like more then half his games in any given year.  When Allen is average, like he's been the last two games, the Bills lose because their D is bad and their offense sputters. Allen can't ALWAYS be in Superman mode.

And blaming Allen for not having Cook on the field and handing the ball to Moore on a critical 3rd down with the game in the balance is crazy IMO. That is Brady and by extension McD.

It seems like Allen's personality is to make any situation he's in work rather then complain or throw a fit about it.  This is laudable and is one of the reasons he's a class act.  But the down side is that while trying to make lemonade out of lemons Allen appears hesitant to wield his power and insert himself into decisions made beyond the scope of playing QB.

We were looking at the season going in, thinking which games they could possibly lose.........now we're wondering which games they could possibly win.

Wow.......just wow.
