Not sure why they say that's so hard to call. If they are looking down the line and see any kind of movement from the guards before the ball is snapped, it's a false start. Seems pretty simple. The guard's hand was actually up and in the neutral zone before the ball moved.

This is like the Jawaan Taylor situation.  That guy comes out of his stance early on almost every pass play.  Refs know they can't just keep throwing flags over and over and over.  It's embarrassing for the league.  Plus it hurts one of their premier teams/quarterbacks.  So they just stopped calling it completely.  Now you see a bunch of other tackles doing the same thing.

 

The league has let this Tush Push stuff slide for too long now.  So if they suddenly start calling false starts all the time, it's basically an admission they have been screwing up for 2-3 years now, and pretty much let the Eagles win a Super Bowl because of it.  They will just let this season play out, and then it will get banned in the offseason.

Now back to the game. 

One technicality is you can't deliberately aim for the knees. You can fall or collapse to take someone's knees out. A chop block below the knees is the most annoying ***** ass way to block a defender though, especially if the defender is taller.

Yeah, I'm fine with the play as long as refs are serious about calling Offside, lining up in the neutral zone, and false starts. Both offenses running the play and defenses defending the play are breaking the rules consistently. If the refs can't rein in the rule breaking, they'll have to ban the play altogether.

Its kinda easy, you warn him, once hes done it a second time you upgrade it to unsportsmanlike... next one after that you toss him.  Theyve got enough game footage to do it.  Its one thing when its an accident, but when it becomes a players plan and gets this far outta hand... its g2 gooooo

The best argument against it is that why is leverage considered dangerous on field goals for the snapper but allowed on the tush push? I think teams will vote against it, it isn't a fun play. The classic QB sneak had a high success rate but it was at least something you could stop.

Just make it reviewable, like now. Every time someone runs it, the eye in the sky just tells the refs. Hey, there was a false start. No play, 5-yard penalty. It ain't hard.

Or take a spot on the practice squad and activate when you play teams that use it frequently. Lets not let thinking get in the way of words.

Why? They have the OLine to do it. Very few teams do it, or are successful with it. Stop them, that's all. But false starts need to be called though.

 

Edit: that being said, it was fun to see them get beat by the Giants ha ha. Dart and Skatterbo are like Josh, Lamar and a select few others: entertaining must see TV.

This is exactly what the Commanders did last year. Ref said if they went Offside again that he would award the Eagles a TD

Want to know who that amazing ref was? None other than Shawn Hochuli, was incidentally grew up an Eagles fan. 
He’s an awful person.
