On one hand you can't blame him

On the other hand he's a defensive HC and his defense cannot stop good teams.

Ya I am more on the latter for that one. It's like, you're a defensive "guru" who has so many assets tied up to your defence.

Let Josh cook and figure it the F out on defence

Do you really enjoy just being playoff regulars but never good enough to make a Super Bowl? Let alone win …that’s all we will ever be with McDermott (who has quite possible the best qb in nfl history)

Yep. Let’s fire him after a 4-1 start!

You and me both.  But living down here in Cincinnati the McD years in Buffalo are looking more and more like the Marvin Lewis years in Cincy.  Sure McD has had a lot more playoff success then Lewis but in the end with Buffalo exiting the playoffs before the SB every year the similarities outweigh the differences.

Chiefs won tomorrow and they're one game behind us.

Jags would be tied with us with a W

It’s a long season. The Bills were ( and are) going to lose games, and you’re not going to lead the AFC start to finish. The Bills were exactly what they’ve been, just with more critical penalties and some turnovers thrown in. That equals a 3 point division loss.

I want the Bills to stop being so conservative in the first half.  It leads to close 4th quarters and you aren’t gonna win all of them.

Agreed, does McD have this philosophy to protect his D? Just thinking out loud here

No, but the way things are going I see 10-7

You think we'll go 6-6 the rest of the season? I just don't think that will happen. All of our hardest games are at home. If we beat the Falcons, Panthers, Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, and Jets, then we only need to pick up one additional win to exceed your prediction.

Yea, if your offenses job is to protect the defense when you do nothing but draft defensive players that amount to "starters" in the NFL, you can still blame the HC and even more so, the GM, for not getting the right players.

Always passing the buck, how about his defense inability to stop a beachball

The defense conceded 23. That is not hideous.

(Though this is not me saying massive changes aren't required).

Probably easier to guess the next loss rather than last loss of the season.  Probably KC. Probably Philly. Probably another one or two in there.

Philly and KC are going to roll the Bills backwards. It will be very ugly.

If you still have hope, KC will disabuse you of that….and if you still have some hope after KC, wait til you see the rush yards Philly puts on McDs D.

The last time we had a generational QB his name was Jim Kelly and when we played inferior opponents he was sitting on the bench with his helmet off drinking Gatorade midway through the fourth quarter because we buried inferior opponents early in the game.

Call it killer instinct, putting our foot on there neck, or whatever. We are not doing it.

Bills SB teams lost to inferior opponents during the regular season plenty. What is this revisionist history?

I'm sorry but Atlanta does not impress me

We better win by 10+

That's a team that will play McDermott ball: throw INT or make other costly errors that compound.

His defense is built for teams like Atlanta

His defense is built on sand.

It's the scheme.

No matter who comes in the results look almost identical. Especially against a good or great QB.

Sit back, nothing big down field, let the other offense eventually make a mistake.

The thing is, it works a lot of the time. Unless you play a great QB or well coached team that doesn't make the mistake.

Blaming a uniform is probably outside the top 10 of "reasons we lost"

True but those uni’s were awful. I’d rather see those atrocious Donahue era uni’s than those practice looking things we saw tonight.

The D did lay some good hits, just not to diggs...The offense is the one that just seems passive to me.   Elite qb, very good Rb ok recievers...very good TE's...

yet they seem less and less agressive.

yes, because (outside Qb) WRs are how you stretch a defense.

ours are slow.  It makes it hard to be aggressive. Instead we end up playing small ball.

Hopefully a wake up call to let the offense unleash and stop playing so tight

Agree.  If opposing Defenses have figured out how to deal with Brady's heavy package then McD is going to have to learn how to embrace the shootout.  I've never been a fan of offenses throttling down to protect their D right from the start of the game. Sure in certain situations you have do it but it seems like the Bills are in this mode from the first snap.

They have a very good team. It’s going to be tough.

The Bills were exactly what they've been is an honest assessment - and that answer is not very good. If not for Bishop's miracle play last week then may have lost to the Saints. They let poor Jets and Dolphins teams hang around for longer than they should. They only beat the Ravens because of an excellent play from Oliver and Josh then dragging them home through sheer willpower.

The Bills have been really unimpressive this year against - Ravens aside - a cakewalk of a schedule. So of course there will be concerns.
