actually, the controversial part for many is that he is not an artist that caters to the fanbase of the football product.

to me it's a bad call and therefore controversial because i'd prefer anyone who doesn't suck. it's a football game and not a publicity stunt for the artist.

The NFL doesn't pay anyone to play the Super Bowl halftime show (beyond union scale which is about $1000/day), so its entire value to the artists is as a publicity stunt.

 

Also, the NFL is running a "Por La Cultura" campaign over this whole season to cultivate their Latino fanbase, which they claim is already over 39 million people in the US.

I get it. And roc nation runs the whole thing. I don't have much faith in the integrity of that group, either.

Didn’t realize how much of a thing this would be when I started the thread in general.  I’ve only become familiar with him this past week.

 

The last halftime I show watched a decent amount of was J Lo and Shakira.   Just because well I think they both are hot.  Which ironically Bad Bunny was in.  Guess I wasn’t paying attention to him.  Those were the days.  lol
